The first time I ever heard of Garrison Keillor was in the late winter of 1983 when I was 15 years old. I had this old hand-held AM radio from Radio Shack and I plugged in this white single earpiece into the headphone jack at night in my bed and just sailed the airwaves randomly seeking something worth listening to that wasn't country music. One saturday night, I came across this guy speaking in a large auditorium, who obviously had a cold, and I pictured him looking like actor Howard Hessman in character as 'Dr. Johnny Fever' based on him talking with a cold. The show was called 'A Prarie Home Companion'. I became a fan. After that, I discovered that if you cut the a/c cord off your mother's favorite lamp and hardwire it to the battery terminals on the back of that same AM radio, all of a sudden, everything under the sun that's being broadcast at the moment,...I could hear everything with 30 times more channel content such as t.v. stations, the airport air traffic control tower at the airport, police radio transmissions, etc.....it was awesome,......until about a week later when I fried the circuit board to the radio which sounded with a loud 'ZAP!'.
This 1st speech must be a replay from the past because he just said 1988 was approaching also I've seen more recent photos and in 2022 and 21 he looks older

I wonder if I'm the only one that teared up singing that song. Something about the sincerity of the man always cones through
Nope, you’re not
2021 was only the upload date , not the speech recording time .....

When was this created? I see it was posted in 2021 but it seems older than that. Never mind. He just said "Now that 1988 is approaching us..."
