man, this should be a recurring segment.
subtle shade, amazing food, an incredible chef with no bs that's a little aloof and an overtly eager seth.
get this dude back.
habbogigi I concur
I agree too
I love how instead of making fun of his accent like other talk show hosts, Seth works with Chef Takayama so easily and fluidly. Amazing host!
Honestly, Masa Takayama seems like he lived the life of 10 people. The amount of stuff he did throughout his life is astounding to me. Not to mention, he lived in a time where you literally have to be somewhere to experience it. You don't have deliveries for everything. There was no internet back then that can show you everything and anything. Still he managed to do so many things. People back then truly lived their lives.
This chef seems so much fun. Highest praise to the cocktail prep, a true professional
He's such a cheeky Zen guy.
8 mins for 3 dishes.
That's some fresh stuff
and to think the seinfeld chick could barely fry some chicken...
TBF; the dishes are completely different, Masa is a professional chef and he had the foresight to pick dishes he knew he could prepare fresh and simply on a short TV segment. No matter how amazing a chef is they ain't going to prepare good fried chicken from scratch in 8 minutes.
Yeah, he made a raw tuna that just needed cutting, no cooking, and then made noodles that only really needed to kiss the oil in the pan to cook. You can't get much faster than "doesn't need cooking" on a cooking segment
becuae Masa came prepared. It's a damn side better than Action bronson murdering hundreds of dollors in fresh truffle for a raw "funky smelling" burger.
@@Hudson316 I know you replied a year ago but dude this is Japanese food what did you expect him to fry up a burger and hope it would take up 15 to 20 minutes to make 2 course gourmet meals??? He brought Japanese tuna that he himself shipped which cost roughly 300 depending how many kilos he sent let alone he always buys the whole tuna fresh every couple of mornings which can cost up to 2000 or more and I'm sure he bought fresh tuna so the host of the show could enjoy it. When he arrived he used dishes that were delicious while using the minimal time he was offered. What do you want him to do? They gave him like 15 minutes to make some plates and he used about 8 minutes of it while you're still sitting at a restaurant and get your meal 20 minutes later.
I never really care for coming segments, but loved this piece. The chemistry between Seth and Masa is great, it's funny seeing Seth dying to try the tuna.
lots of awkward pauses more like and seth took ages to even ask him question about his restaurant. when he did, they were dumb af. got nothin on colbert / corden
Wow, a chef actually cooked on the show, not just switched the raw ingredients with the cooked meal under the table.
to be fair the tuna guacamole wasnt cooked at all
@@anky9784 idiot people's eat raw tuna.
@@rubssraji3088 you are inbred
Love this dudes laugh lol
Chef Masa was extremely happy Seth asked him about the burgers. Free marketing plug without looking too desperate for it.
I love that food is the way to Seth's heart, he has no shame in showing it everytime someone cooks on his show. I love it, he reminds me so much of a little boy! He must've been adorable, I'm from Manchester/Bedford and I wish I got to know him growing up.
I love masa I remember seeing him with Antony Bourdain in Japan.
Masa seems super cool. I want him to read me bed-time stories.
Ttoby89 YES !!! I feel you
creepy
@@Unflushablepiss very lol
Ttoby89 masa is a legend, watch his other videos he’s awesome
Masa is precious.
masa is so much fun
I like that Seth isn't doing much. The cooking just usually goes up in flames when the host tries to make the same dish as it is done so often.
you had me at VODKA!
Reana Cato 😂
He says 100% like we say totally.
oh man, the chef is amazing
I love Masa, he's on another level
he needs his own show
We need more of this!
Ate at one of this guys restaurants (Kappo Masa) and was undoubtedly one of the best meals I’ve ever had. They do a sweet shrimp and uni dish that I’m still dreaming about. Good to know that he seems like a funny charming dude as well as an exceptional chef!
These two are a fantastic comedy duo.
I could watch him cook all day
Master Masa is the best!
This dude is good... bring him back! :D
This chefs really cool I believe he has appeared with Bourdhain a few times..
Masa makes food everyone can understand and make. Simple and so gooood.
Seth is great!
Love masa , a very down to earth cool dude
MASA IS A CULINARY MASTER WOW even this oversimplified demonstration was so perfectly nuanced for the occasion... amazing what true artisans can envision and pull off in a limited capacity.. and Masa's chitchat is the best
Masa is a legend.
Chef Masa is the first one I have seen who has completed his dishes on live television that the host instantly ate. There was no prepped version.
Love this guy.
a little dangerous haha he's great
5 yrs later his 1 minute food still look good.
Awesome show. Do it again.
imagine being the chef's kid. i would stuff myself on the daily! hey, dad, we're out of butzu, ohm nom nom...
aienatu imagine all the dad jokes
Chef masa I love you!
that looked delicious. I would definitely go to his restaurant if I could.
Didn't think it would so much pleasant and fun when i clicked on the video; Brilliant 🙌
So gordon ramsey baths in olive oil, this guy baths in lime juice eh
Masa is a top class chef..! You gotta see his burgers..!
Loved this segment! Reminded me of a SNL skit.........Seth is always so happy to be able to eat on the show. So Funny!
Really great segment! Seth's awkward fumbling with cooking is a tad better than mine, tbh
Love how he say "little bit"
Man, they need to start giving Seth a snack for these food segments. He can't wait to eat.
Now that's mouthwatering af
it's so good I watched it twice
Seth and Masa would make 2 great traveling buddies
2:00 seth definitely felt that kick from the cocktail lel
I ate a dill pickle in one of my California Maki last night; it was the best one on the platter.
Yummmmm
i approve this chef 100%
Chef is so funny
I'm now hungry!
i need to become rich for these reasons.
The tuna looked so good just because i a fan of raw fish ;)
I saw Chef on Anthony Bourdain and fell in love with him. If you liked this clip, find that episode. It's incredible.
It's so weird to see a show without fake laughs..
But that's how it should be.
The only show host I actually like now
He just mashed some random stuff together to get his air time in 😂😂😂
Who here loves Seth ? say I :)
Shahriar Mahmud I!!
I
Eye 😂😂😂
Ney
Masa costs like $600 for one meal in NYC. This guy trained for 2 decades and is amazing.
Sushi is like the perfect food. Honestly, Masa could've done anything to that tuna short of cooking it and it still would've been amazing.
When is Rogan going to come on and show Seth how to roll a joint.
“Grate” oh Seth
I want to taste the fish paster
Anthony brought me here. This man seems like a genius.
Yep
He could be an a list actor if he wanted
I want to know more. How in the world do you process a fish to get pasta from it? And what kind of fish?
I second this request. What's it called in Japanese-- anyone know? This would be really cool to make at home.
I second this. Googling fish pasta only gives recipes of pasta with fish.
Frank Drebbin I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing kamaboko fish cake that's been extruded through a device, like how they make noodles out of a block of kanten (agar).
My guess is that he had to beat the fish to a pate consistency and keep on beating it to give the pate the strength and texture that will show after shocking the pate in water in water. I know that in China a kind fish ball/fish dumpling is made this way, which does have a chew to it.
This is common in Asia. Raw fish paste in a piping bag and squeeze into boiling water.

I am entertained.
Master Masa ❤
Cool dude
Seth's Japanese is cute ;-)
あたしも笑った<3
「たけやま」と言ったけどxD
そうそう:D
「か」と「け」は言い間違えしやすいかもね。
0:51 "Grate"
Please excuse my punmanship
why did I think that was Andy from the office getting "tuna"
Masa always be wearing that grey shirt with the sleeves halfway up
Wow
Faratiana Rajaofera watched masa take a bite out of a truffle like an apple
Seth: secret sauce?
Masa: naw, not reary, just soy sauce
Me:lol
Damn, now I am hungry and it is past 11pm :-(
I wish I could afford to eat at his restaurant 😔
The way these two communicate borders me, theyre speaking color
Damn this host was unexpectedly pretty good.
Tuna guacamole what? That just looks like part of a poke bowl...that has excellent ingredients and flavour.
I want to try that tunamole, wait that sounds like a focked up hybrid animal.
I would like to hear the chef sing "What A Wonderful World..."
it look like he waited all day for that food
This chef is way better than Gordon "wrinkles" Ramsay
You don’t rush a cook.
わぁぁぁ、美味しいそう!和食は一番美味しい食べ物です<3
Seth I am so jealous of you now....
does it taste like fish??
QueerBiNatureNYC
It has a fishiness taste. Not fish taste but like the odor of a fish market
I would have cut to commercials so I can eat everything
100%
This guys audience suck, Chef Masa is a gentleman.
This was way better than Jerry seinfields wife and those other chefs. They were all boring.
his voice like liam neeson
Oh, somehow I can tell from this clip that Seth will try any kind of food. That's brave for a white fellow 😂
