He may have written the sketch too . He wrote under the name George Willey so his work would be judged on it's own merit not just put in as it was Ronnie Barker that wrote it
Both Ronnies were absolutely funny and their sketches either together or as individuals were second to none. They have perfect comedic timing, that is what made them so funny.
Thank goodness for youtube. If it had not been for youtube I would never have heard of the 2 Ronnies. It is a crime that I never saw them here in America. They are simply brilliant.
Another brilliant sketch .... One I can relate to very much personally. I also often have 'memory trails' that eventually (emphasis on eventually) lead back to the original point ....Sometimes there's a delay or an interruption in the chain which causes problems....But, it is supposed to be the sign of quick and intelligent mind so...😉
Comedy just isn't this good anymore. It's like you hear people say British humour is dry, but it's not. It's more like it assumes you're clever enough to keep up and be ahead of the joke, and then it goes in a totally different direction in an even more clever way and it can even take a couple seconds to click, then when it does it's just so good. The sundae bit was fantastic.
Jane Doe I took a postal course on memory training many years ago ....I gave up after a few months ...they kept writing to me to ask if I had forgotten to send back the training materials.
I can't remember when I've seen something so, so...soooo, I can't remember the word. Bananas! That's it...bananas. I can't remember when I've when I've seen something so bananas. Laughed my...my...my, umm, my, ascot off.
Why can’t comedy be like this nowadays? We get a ton of useless stand-ups that can barely make people laugh even by using swear words and toilet habits.
Comedy has to be continually new and reinventing itself. If comedy remained the same forever then it would just become totally unfunny and predictable. Mate, VivaLaSiclla, you haven't really thought this through, have you. In other words you're as thick as the proverbvial...
Yes it does. You're just not watching or listening to the "right" stuff. This kind of whining irritates me so much. I used to go to the Red Rose Comedy Club on Seven Sisters Road back in 1990 That's where I first saw Jo Brand. Of course, back then she was known as the Sea Monster. Others? Oh Yes, and And I tell you this for nothing: Lee Evans died an absolute death there back in 1991. He actually got booed off stage which was quite rare because the Red Rose audience was usually quite forgiving. Not on this night though. It used to be compered by this very mediocre wannabe standup called Ivor Dembina. He used to use the same line week in week out. He's probably using it still. After all this time. It went something like this: "You know, I'm known as Mr Comedy and then he'd make some reference to his wife: "Mrs Comedy"" And the there was Alan Davies who had this routine where he would describe typical Spy or James Bond movies where someone tryning to find their way out of a small room would seize upon a ventilation duct and proceed to remove the "grid". Yes, the *_"GRID!"_* Not the *"GRILLE"*, no. We all knew he meant the "grille" but he always referred to it as the "grid." Ask him about this. I'm sure it will make him chuckle.
Is the box set available in NTSC, or only PAL? If there is a NTSC format box set available, I'd absolutely love to buy a copy. Do you know of any sources??
Amazon has a few box sets and ebay has a ton of DVDs. Finding NTSC might be tough. Have a look. In any case, your PC will be able to play both regions.
Ronnie Barker's ability to juggle the language is genius.
no one could come close to Ronnie barker for word play sketches he simply brilliant & hilarious
Take a look at Stephen Fry's "The Letter."
For someone doing a sketch about a bad memory, he must have an AMAZING memory to have got through all that!!!
