I love when Boromir talks to Aragon about Gondor in the first movie. This song was first introduced in that conversation in a recurring theme like manner. "Have you seen in Aragon? The White Tower of Ecthelion?" Beautiful!!!
I came here for 1:16 -- goosebump city! My favorite track from the ROTK score. Long live Boromir (this is his theme, as far as I'm concerned), Faramir, Aragorn, and all the noble Sons of Gondor!
@@hyggeravn6325 It has several iterations- It first appeared in FOTR as Boromir speaks of Gondor to Aragorn, and then it comes back in ROTK, mostly whenever they're in Gondor- Kinda like the theme of Rohan.
"Very bright was that sword when it was made whole again; the light of the sun shone redly in it, and the light of the moon shone cold, its edge was hard and keen. And Aragorn gave it a new name and called it Andúril, Flame of the West.”

actually it's the theme for Minas Tirith. notice they play the same melody in FOTR when Boromir talks about the White City. love the thematic richness Shore created these movies
I love this track, like all of Howard Shore's Middle Earth stuff. It feels like some forgotten great power waiting to finally rise again. Ah Howard Shore you are one in a million
Definitely one of my favorite moments of the movie and score. This composition plays such a powerful role in the scene of Elrond presenting Aragorn with Andúril, which is at 0:28 and -my favorite- 1:16 It turns what could have been a very normal scene into something bold, proud, moving, and very beautiful. Both Howard Shore and this composition are incredible.
The man that can wield the power of this sword can summon an army far deadlier than any that walks this earth Put aside the ranger become who you were born to be I give hope to men I keep none for myself
Yes, Curunir is the Sindarin name of Saruman, whose original name was Curumo... but we don't know if he was thrown to the Void or merely imprisoned in Mandos (which would work provided he wasn't let out). What were you thinking of me adding to this discussion, Adam? (For everyone else, Melkor was nicknamed "Morgoth", which means "Dark Foe".)
Narsil, sword of Elendil, broken by Sauron, used by Isildur to cut dark lord's power. Broken for many sun and moon rises, waiting to be reborn. And when the darkest moment of mankind was above them, the brokenone, shall be reforged. Blade of mankind, flame of the west. For Narsil, was reborn, as Anduril.
Anduril actually gets reforged in the first book (Before the fellowship leaves), and Aragon has been carrying the pieces around with him, they were not in Rivendell.
That's the most intense crescendo of a music theme I've heard! It so majestic and triumphant like the enemy would flee across the Middle-earth just when hearing it! The epicness is almost unbearable.
"Sauron will not have forgotten the Sword of Elendil" Aargon draws the Sword "The blade that was broken, shall return to Minas Tirith!!!" Then the world of men shall be reunited, the Crown less ranger, shall reclaim the Throne of Gondor!!!
You know how at weddings lots of embarrassing stories are told about the bride and groom? Elrond (especially movie!Elrond who didn't want them to get married at first) is so going to tell this story at the rehearsal dinner to an audience of family, friends, and a lot of famous lords and ambassadors...
i like the beginning because it sounds like something mysterious and the hidden hope of Men of Numenor and of the Elves(sry for my worste english....Greece)
The Void is where Sauron and his dark master are now joined by Curunir. Melkor once had the mastery, and yet remains in the words of Hurin Thalion, "Master of Slaves" and so will remain until the End of Days. I hope Jess will finish this debate with the correct Sindarin form.
The Master Sword... forged from the three flames of the old goddesses..Din, Nayru, Farore. With all three, the goddess' chosen hero's sword will gain the power to banish all evil.
@MrBellotrix Nah, probably Sauron. Right before he died, Boromir commended Aragorn and called him "my king." Anduril's made from the sword that cut the ring from Sauron's hand. Definitely Sauron. :P
And Saruman and either Wormtongue or Morgoth (Sauron's old boss; in power in the First Age, had his precious shiny thing stolen from him by a Man, a girl, and a dog) from the Void.
What's the name of the theme at 1:30? I really want to know so it can stop making my heart ache at the thought of Frodo and Sam's good-byes at the Grey Havens...

The melody that begins at 1:15 is so powerful, it's conveys so much. The main message I get from it is "There is hope now."
gossebumps everytime it comes on
It’s amazingly cathartic in a totally no tragic way, it’s very powerful.
I love how this part plays softly as well in TFOTR when boromir talks to Aragorn.
the broken blade stood as a symbol of the broken kingdom of gondor, with elendil's death and isildur being seduced by the ring the race of men failed to banish evil from the world but now that the blade was remade and the last heir of isildur has come forth to wield it there is hope that this time they'll achieve what men failed to do so long ago

I was looking for this theme in Return of the King, as I heard it used in Fellowship and thought it was awesome. Glad they reused it
