I feel like I’m listening to my dad talk about the good old days. Great content, Craig!
I feel like I'm listening to that one guy that everyone knows, the one that always has a story almost everything... But everyone loves listening to him....
LOL 😂 ❤ @CraigLieberman.... Spoken comedically with great respect for the things you have done for the Tuner Car Culture and the work you did in building one of the most legendary film series ever made....
Word!
When I was learning to drive my mom had a red 2011 VW Polo 1.2. I was out driving it about my town and took a backroad since it was a nice day to check out some scenery. I knew where this backroad took me but had never driven it before. I’m approaching a T junction as I’m headed toward a short steep hill. I’m not going particularly fast (not that you can in a 75 bhp Polo) and as I went over the top of the hill, all four wheels lifted off the ground. The car nose dived back down…I near shit myself, didn’t realise that was a sharp jump in the road! Pulled over praying the bumper wasn’t smashed to smithereens or at least cracked. Thankfully it wasn’t but I looked under the car and the underside had been badly scraped. My mom to this day doesn’t know that happened.
I expected much worse on the Porsche story, that's more of a best case scenario lol. Great stories though!
In south africa we had the "ford capri perana V8" build by Besil Green. They basically took the capri and stuck a 5.0 V8 Windsor in there. Could order this package from ford dealership and had a full warranty just like the stock 3000xl
Learned how to drive much younger than the legal age with my dad in his Stang. Also went over 100 MPH on the back of my dads bikes in early elementary school….he use to always say “don’t..EVER tell your mom about this..”. And guess what ? I never did tell her. why ruin the fun? Ha! Her heart health is in much better condition without her knowing. I’ll take it.
The one about passing the Highway Patrol car was hilarious.
I just enjoy these kind of stories. Just having fun and just do some stupid things. When i first got my license my father had a Bmw 525i E34 and i remember asking him to borrow his car and after some begging he finally gave me the keys and warned me 'Be carefull and don't do anything reckless' and i was like 'Yeah don't worry about it'. Next thing i know i pulled up to a stoplight next to some guys with a Honda Civic and we just looked at each other and just pulled away as the light turned green. What i didn't know was there where cops checking for speeding on the side of the road so some weeks later my dad got a letter saying he did 100 km/h in a 50 zone. And he just looked at me and went 'Guess who's not driving my car anymore' My stomach just dropped when i saw his face. But i payed the ticket and it was all good. After some lecture from him. Good times.
My grandmother had that exact same LeBaron in the video!
So many awesome memories in that car.
That was in the day when your kids didn't need to wear seat belts and you could leave your kids in the car and go into the grocery store.
A long way away from today 🤣
who the hell calls a station wagon a suv
The Mercury Capri was also an American car model off and on fir many years. My parents had one in 78 because i remember getting into an accident in it when i was 5. Then later i know they had a model that looked like s 5.0 mustang with a bubble rear. Then in the 90's they has a miata looking thing my uncle who hit his midlife crisis bought.
My pops had a capri 3000 with the body kit and ducktail spoiler he brought back from Germany when my grandpa got stationed over there. That car was a rocket he said! Did a lot of mods to it but he said it would run with most everything on the road over here in the states at the time
Dads are the best. Same age as you and the ole boy had his shit together 2 steps ahead of you because he’d been there. Great stories bud! Love it
I'm a manager for Autozone and I can confirm that modding cars is coming back in style. Local group of highschoolers here have a G35, an M3, a Stealth and a Tiburon.
I love the stories man, keep ‘em coming. Reminds me in high school my friends mom had a nice e46 that we used to take out at night (15 no drivers license) I went drifting with it thanksgiving night my junior year and overheated it, I did a few laps around the school parking lot sideways (snow drifting but I was alright at it esp for 15/16) after a few laps it shut down on me, we were freaked but finally the car started again so we drove straight home and forgot to put gas in it, went Black Friday shopping the next morning (probably three hours later, I’m surprised the engine wasn’t still warm) and when we got to the McDonalds drive through she finally says “I thought I filled this up last night…” she never did say anything but I’m pretty sure she knew lol
I don’t know anyone that calls station wagons suvs.. they’re still wagons lol
Me neither.
He’s talking about suburban and durangos. They’re technically station wagons.
them station wagons are so nice
OK, I got one. I went to high school in a small town in New Mexico, we had maybe eight cops. Right after I graduated I bought a 69 Impala SS convertible with a 427 engine. The engine was pretty well built and for a giant tank of a car, it was pretty quick for the day. One night coming home from cruising at about 2AM two really hot chicks in a lime green Camaro came up next to me at a light and wanted to race. When the light changed, off we went. After one light we were still neck and neck and gaining speed. Neither of us were letting up (Damned if I would let some chicks beat me... even of they were hot). We were screaming down main street wide open when the light ahead turned red but we were not letting up. right about then a cop car came through the intersection, right in front of us... and froze! I looked at the speedo... just shy of 100... uh oh... The cop finally took off seconds before we plowed into him. Well, neither of us were going to stick around so I floored it. I made it out of town and turned off on the road to my apartment. Just as I topped the hill, I looked in the mirror and saw three cops with their lights on going by after the Camaro that was going straight. Phew. Ok, yeah crazy but at 2AM there wasn't a sole on the streets except me, the Camaro and apparently... a cop. On another occasion I blew by a cop and never knew he was there. He called ahead and a state trooper coming the other way saw me turn off onto a dirt road. We were at a friends house (about 4 of us in the car) when a cop shows up asking whose car it is. He wrote me 14 tickets. Seriously. I hired a lawyer and beat it in court because he was outside his jurisdiction... lucky the state cop didn't write them. It got so bad after that I had to park the car for a while because the cops would follow me everywhere I went... Living in a small town is probably the only reason I survived my teenage years. And BTW, there were a LOT of us crazy gearheads around that town... Damn, I miss the 70s...
I’m glad none of the green/black 240 stories made it in here😂
I love your stories Craig. Never any BS. Just real stuff. Thank you and keep them coming
You Have Way More Stories than that. I wanna hear about our trip to Westwood from Santa Clarita. I am sure your subscribers would love that story 😂
Gotta admit- as soon as you said you called your attorney and were assured the statute of limitations had run out, I belly-laughed pretty heartily!!
Love these stories.
I miss legit station wagons. Not everything had to be an suv back in the day. Wagons rock!
How popular were euro cars back then? Were they cheap comparing to US cars?
Dont live in California 😅
Great stuff yo. 👍👍🤜🤛
Great stories. But one thing gets unanswered is how could you afford to modify those cars at that young age? Cheap parts back in the day?
@8:15 did you watch the entire video?
@@jamdc2000 Yes i did
Love these stories! Please do more!
Awesome stories man! Thanks for sharing!
Dan❗️ I have a 1981 Datsun 280zx 2+2 all original with only 4K miles! Still has the new car smell, would you be interested in buying it ?
Good content as always!!
Just discovered your videos. Really enjoying the story telling.👍
Craig, touched a lot of points from my own growing up. Keep it up.
This is just great craig, great stories i really enjoyed this one. Dont know if you remember me, im from Bahrain and i bought your book when i was down in CA couple of years back, wanted to meet you at cars & coffee huntington beach to get your autograph but was stuck in San Fran that weekend. Would love to meet you someday, share some stories and have a good laugh!!
One of your best videos. Loved it!
Do more videos like this one. Get your buddies together and buy them a case of PBR and tell them you'll make them famous.
This was a fun one! Thanks man!
Being a resident of Santa Clarita/canyon country in the past, this was dope to watch I know almost every spot that was spoken of and I could just picture it all in my head 😂
Your last story seems pretty tame compared to a challenger whipping it around cracking someones hip.
Firstly: it was so nice to see you in Zolder last Sunday! Secondly, wow, I never thought land of the free has so many restrictions! As a European, I have never heard that you could get a ticket for some occasional revving or leaving marks on road. Continuous revving is usually against the 'rules' in regular weekend car meets in local parks etc, but even then police would just come and tell that locals have complained of noise so you must leave or behave. Anyway, great video as always!
Oh this had me laughing really good esp the first story. Takes me back to ways my parents caught me based on pure dumb luck for them…
Btw, the Stories are lit! Thanks for sharing them with us
A true hoonigan!
the amount of details of these stories 😯
Craig thanks for sharing
Yep, glad mobile phone camera's wern't around in the 80's, we did so much stupid shit i wouldn't have a licence today, lol.
I love that the concept of the small pee pee is universal. 🤣
Great stories!
I wanna hear Race Wars stories
I had bad luck last weekend with my Volvo 850 T5... I was going about 110mph in the middle of the night and then I felt loss of power. I heard that the engine was not running on all 5 cylinders and then I saw a huge smoke in my rear view mirror. I thought it was a headgasket. Because I had oil in my coolant reservoir... Well on tuesday I checked the cylinders with a camera, and there was a small hole in the cylinder wall... So it's time for a new engine! Life is life and moving on. Luckily the Volvo Turbo 5 cylinder engines arent too expensive. So I found a new one for 1100 euros and it even has H-Profile connecting rods!
I had a-hole lights on the spare tire bicycle rack of my Isuzu Rodeo. I, however, had installed them for backing up in the dark. But, believe me, when I got a tailgater on me, I would flash them with two 100 watt lights facing backwards.
11:58 Busted.... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
"neon was not invented back then"😂
Tjis is brilliant Craig, some.ofntje stories were hilarious
Dude, lie to me is an amazing driving song. Never let me down again is a good one to outrun the cops to. I know this. And i was with my best friend lol. Your videos rock man.
Nice Depeche mode song. It slaps. As the kids say. I'd love a series on Craig L.'s greatest hits.
😂😂 good story Craig lol
Great stories.
YES YES! Im calling them Station Wagons from now on.😂
9:50 I am not sure how an semi autonomous car would react to that, it might freak out and think it is in the wrong lane. Rare possibility but could really go wrong on a camera assisted model of self driving.
The need for the “A” light is real though!
Craig. Can you do a review on the Fast X movie?
I had a 1976 ford gran torino 351w modified 400.
It was my shagin wagon. Haha
Good ol' days ❤
Are you sure the hubcap came off while you were driving? Or did he see you racing home and take it off of the car himself when he got home?
I had also bad Luck my parents got a 2019 BMW 2 series Familyvan Sporteditiion and a Friend of mine recorded me i didnt know it at the time as the day goes on my parents ask hows the car i replied its nice then one day they found the video they grounded me for 2 months ^^
wow.. thought he would know the difference between SUVs and station-wagons...
Theyre the same thing
@@hungryowl1559 Nope.
@@hungryowl1559 No, they’re not!
Hearing those "your insurance will go up and it(some deed) will mess up your credit score" makes me think that the social credit is soooo on its way to America
Craig, how dare you slander Oldsmobile 😡 The G body 87-88 Cutlass Supreme is my all time favorite! Well in the looks department, not performance lol
🎉
Story one ...jackass with The wheel cover
The only place Raceway 👦👍🏎🏁🚩
STOP MODIFYING THEM if you don't want bad luck. You bring it (as well as anyone else) on yourself.
