Disco Train from Donkey Kong Country 2 restored to HD. This was made possible by locating the original audio samples used to create the soundtrack from the keyboard workstations they came from (such as the Korg Wavestation and Roland R8) and combining them with the music instruction data ripped from the game, plus a little mixing and mastering magic to create what the track would have sounded like if the veil of 16-bit compression was lifted.
You can find the rest of the tracks as well as the FLStudio project files, the audio samples used to create it, the music instruction data converted to MIDI, and the original compressed samples from the game in this dropbox hub: www.dropbox.co...
This is part of a project to restore the entire DKC Series soundtrack. Follow me on Twitter for more updates / princesamlet
Sound sources: Harmor, Roland R-8, Sytrus
There's a random radio station in southern Ohio that plays video game music instead of the normal stuff. Best two hour drive ever.
What's the station?
You are lying. This radio station doesn't exist and you are lying.
Man these soundtracks are epic. Some of the best music of the 16bit era...still eclipsing most of what accompanies games today.
I agree 100%
The problem with video game music is the same as regular music, fast produced to keep up with the demand, no effort or passion put behind it. Nothing is made to be remembered. Games also rarely have any replay value due to being similar to everything else. DKC2 had a unique element/mechanic added to every level, keeping your adventure fresh and further rewarding you for beating those levels.
I still play the DKC trilogy yearly, where as I have more recent games I never even finished or visited again. The music being a huge part of my enjoyement when playing these apes again!
DKC2 still has the best soundtrack of ANY game to date.
Good games will always be good games, no matter technology advantages
@@ElvenGodFromHell in short, the monetary system is hella bad when it is the major factor in one's decision making, and just a small example of why the love of money sucks. Corporate ONLY loves money. It only can. They'll never be able to handle money like an individual can because they are typically collectives that have already agreed that rapid expansion and cost cutting are the only ways to survive. And maybe they're right in one sense, but it usually comes with value stripped out of the final product and even out of our world.
The *man on the dollar bill* said to Thomas Jefferson on Aug. 1, 1786, “Paper money has had the effect in your state that it will ever have, to ruin commerce, oppress the honest, and open the door to every species of fraud and injustice.”

The scream lol
Uncompressed scream is so horrific haha
The scream in the original attempt at this song sounded WAY different. This is actually a great improvement!
It’s fireworks shooting in the air. It’s not a scream.
@@TheOSTLobby are screams bro
Hit that at the right timing once when I lost Dixie Kong off the edge!

David Wise knew what he was doing here... funky as hekk
Dude the fact these songs still bump is lit, wish we had more games with great sound tracks and the screams god bless they dont sounds like the demons screeching at 3 am
*REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE*
Solid work on getting the screams to sound good again, that definitely sounded like a tricky sound to HD-ify without it sounding weird.
Thank you so much for putting so much time and effort into these tracks, they sound great!
Disco Train has to be one of my favourite pieces of gaming music by Dave Wise.
Brings back memories 😂
I've never noticed how they duck when passing under a gate. This game is grate.
Great*
This is well restored, I like a lot the screamings at some points
everyone does including meself
lmao The scream sample is the best.
Oh yeah! This is one of my favourite tunes. Thank you so much! Looks like I'll be ridin' on the Disco Train once again...in extended form!
Excellent job managing to modify the original scream sample to both retain its higher quality/bit-rate and also follow the modulation David Wise subjected the compressed version used in the original game's release to.
Well holy crap I never knew you could just ram into these Kremlings on the rail! I always tried to jump on them!
Also at 0:14 the song is literally going up and down like a rollercoaster. Genius.
Espectacular. Muchas gracias por tu trabajo amigo. Abrazos
For me this series, exactly DKC, DKC2 & DKC3, in 1994 and in 2022 too, is the future!!!
Love all these restorations man. Keep em coming!
Sam the GOAT, thanks again!
Love the clips of actual people btw, keep up the good work!
The amount of nostalgia this channel gives me is ridiculous. What’s the name of that viral video with the two dudes jamming out? Lol

When was the last time this rollercoaster had a safety inspection
It's kremilin island, so... probably never had a inspection
by my guesses since it's the kremlings headquarters, probably at february 30th 1950 i guess.
Oh,this music is Japanese name"Scull Coaster" and "Coaster Race".
There stage is interesting and difficult…💦
It’s a fun stage
Omg, the cut to the two guys 😆
I love the transposing adjustment to the pitch of the vocal from the original one you did. Great work!
LOVE IT!!!! ONE OF THE BESTS!!!!!!!
In the mini-novel from the end of chapter 4 to the beginning of chapter 6, Diddy, Dixie, and Cranky enter the park against Cranky's advice after escaping the Neeks of Krem Quay. They are accosted by Kruncha who says they should listen to Cranky, and they try to fight him. Their attacks and even an exploding barrel do little more than annoy him, and he has ten other various kremlings chase the two kongs with him. They run through the midways into a hall of mirrors where Diddy tricks him into hitting and smashing every mirror in the house. They get away, Kruncha and his crew catch up to them. Cranky leads them to the broken "Skull Coaster" tracks. Kruncha ( who is actually more Kudgel's size in the story) and the Kremlings all get in skull cars but Dixie notices the tracks are broken ahead. She saves Diddy and Cranky with her helicopter spin. All the Kremlings fly off the tracks and straight to the ground, defeated at the beginning of chapter 6 the rest of which is spent in Gloomy Gulch for a relatively short time ( half a chapter) where they're harassed by Kloak and Kackle who try (and fail) to slow them down with a wind storm, reaching the keep.
I went to a county fair once, and there was this ride called crazy mouse, that gave me the vibes of disco train
1:58 Dixie Kong has cotton candy bubble gum.
Is this a threat
@@spacelol6444 No. I did not mean to threaten anybody. For some odd reason, I do not remember making that post. It's very stupid of me, and nobody gets this lame post of mine. I would consider deleting it later.
@@bennel3588 i was just making a stupid meme lol
@@spacelol6444 There are some people that pick on me, but I deserve it, because I have made mean posts. I wonder if you get my joke. Cotton candy flavor is pink, and there is cotton candy bubble gum. Strawberry joke would also have been good there.
David Wise didn't compose music fro Killer Instinct but he definitely has the Rare vibe style music! 👏🏻 Awesome restoration!
can't believe rare met him almost randomly.
This is one of the most bangin songs on the snes
The game developers had fun making this level and it clearly shows
Este soundtrack me encanta y no lo había podido encontrar con los efectos de fondo que le dan su toque
13:34 me and the boys at 3am
All we need is the consistent [BANG BWOM BWOM] of hitting the barrels to open the gates.
Happy New Year’s Eve!!!
That tune makes me want to dance to disco music.
Besides those two groovy niggas.
i'm hearing sounds that i never heared playing this game wow...
That's not a good thing. It means he picked the wrong soundfont, or maybe didn't pitch it correctly. These are recreated from scratch so there are bound to be some mistakes.
Mr. Dog Could also be that with no SFX from the game, he’s able to hear subtle parts that were drowned out during gameplay. Timbre could also have been improved.
thank god for this,
I always have a wide grin when the duo who did Big Booty Bitches show up in this video, lol.
The scream
lmao nice editing. wasnt expecting it, gave me a laugh
I like this updated version!
Love this track
Excellent restoration mate! Sam, by any chance, do you have any interest in restoring other David Wise's tracks? Battletoads and Double Dragon for SNES for example?
Yes! I’d love to hear a remix. Of stage 5.
every time the bass drops again. oh my lord
Time to dance!
good job on this one
I never got to this level but I love the soundtrack so much
love this

Grande trabalho! Perfeito!! 👏👏👏👏
@Jammin' Sam Miller Is this a new upload?
Quando eu era moleque eu sempre sonhei em visitar esse parque cheio de tendas, até hoje nos meus 38 anos de idade ainda desejo isso🙏🏻
If you ever remake this, you need to put that one gif of the russian kid dancing in a nightclub over the beat drop between 1:09-1:23
I've always like electronic music since I was a kid... it was until way later that I really understood the reason why. Nintendo epic OST! There's one from Top Gear that I would love to hear remixed!
Amazing work!!

Fam is jammin hard in the backrooms
Anyone care to sing along to and/or reenact the hype of this epic disco themed number?
3:51 me and my brother making waffles right now
Amazing song but the scream just sounds to realistic. I thought it was always more of an animal howl or ghost soind than an actual human sounds
I thought it sounded like an eagle call, or at least what is portrayed as an eagle call in the movies, which is actually the sound of a red tailed hawk. If I were to do a cover of this with modern sounds, I would use an Aztec death whistle sample ua-cam.com/video/_Sw0VCtZs-g/v-deo.htmlsi=oecroHUJUiUD-w63
I wanna listen to this song while riding a roller coaster
I miss these good ol games. Playing a level to get through it and find all the extra things. The carnival ride scream was the best addition to the soundtrack. What's with the two guys randomly bouncing side to side?!? Lol hilarious addition to this video😅 i know I've seen em before!!! What's that video?? 😂
It's this gem ua-cam.com/video/eIri9YLHpOg/v-deo.html

Wonder how many people know what he’s doing putting that clip in there. The resemblance is uncanny. Excellent find lol
i sure don't but i'd like to know
:28 at the beat
Me: Yo!- have you been spying on me ??!
@.@ that scream 😱 lmfaooooo
Incredible!
This was my sister's and my favorite song in the game lol
Am I the only one that sees the screams as merely Roller Coaster ambiance? Like, other people riding along on the rides and screaming at the low drops?
YUJU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS SONGS
I wonder how hard would be to retrofit then in modern roms.
MSU1 patch does that
Omg!!!
The tribulation beckons…
You are a genius
Me encanta la parte del chileno diciendo WEOOOOOON reducida un 70%
Fantastic 👌🏻

Best remix
Good stuff!
Eu amo essas músicas do donken kong
This is very nice 👍
2:47 I can hear the fnf music
when the flares of the fireworks fall it kinda outlines the mountains from dkc3.. i'm guessing krocodile isle is close to the northern kremisphere??
all i know is thats a lot of damn Ferris wheels for one park. or not enough.
Lost it at the clip 0:26
Everyone ganster till the big black spaceship comes and melts your dogs

0:26 el shitpost nunca puede hacer falta
Who dislike this video probably died a lot in Disco Train Stage.
one mistake and it's over.
ROLLER COASTER POOPOO!
What is your method to finding sound clips that are uncompressed versions of the originals. The screams are spot on!
David Wise used specific Synthesizers to compose the tracks. Mainly, for DKC he used MIDI tracks from the Korg Wavestation. So, technically you can make his songs by getting one of those. This obviously, can be a hard and long work if you want to get the same and exact sound he made :)
0:52 is it screaming riders or fireworks launching ?
Screaming
it's the fireworks screaming, I mean who wouldn't be after being lit on fire? lol
@@protocetid You are funny. Wouldn't it be fireworks screeching?
@@bennel3588 it's funnier when you use what they said in your joke
@@protocetid You probably remember seeing my posts in different videos. Sometimes, I have trouble remembering things. I remember making jokes with other people on UA-cam.
