He just is a highly creative ADD person. Working on 4 albums at a time. Of course he gets lost in is own world.
As an AuDHD person, my neurospicy radar has always been going off with him. Not saying that he is tho, my radar is wrong sometimes but it wouldn't surprise me. Especially with the way he works, interacts and his humor.
We all are complex beings indeed!
Personality X might have ideas about how personality Y should be.
That's sometimes rather fruitless!
It took long time for me to realize, and lots of frustration - my personality is that I want a perfect world that thinks and prioritizes like I do.
But I do understand now that there is no single one correct way to be, other than expecting people to be different, embracing and supporting their strengths, navigating around any hardwired weaknesses, and just make the best of it
Nice to see that i am not alone. 😅
Meaning: even with my working pattern (or rather: non-existent workflow hahaha) it is still possible to achieve greatness. Jari is a shining example. ❤
ADD for sure, but also 100% Perfectionist which could be a sign of OCD
I know exactly how it feels because i have exactly those, so i can empathise with what happened, i'm finally glad Time II happening
Yeah, sounds very ADD to me. As a person with ADHD myself, I can relate. Working on 4 things at once sounds crazy to most people but for us it's pretty natural. Of course, getting things actually done is also difficult, and this can be seen as well.
Jari comes across as a really nice and gentle person.

I’ve always dubbed Jari as The Metal Mastermind. Guitar maestro, various layers of vocals, visionary, perfectionist, producer. A significant thing I highly admire with all of the frustration and negativity, not once I did I see him lash out at anyone. When it was…Time….he professionally explained the delay, vision, intentions and progress. An example of composure and bearing…….and he likely was content with the distance from the spotlight. This… PACKAGE…… is utterly amazing. 🤘🏾🤘🏾
Yeah. Jari really is a mastermind. Kudos to him, I admire all the hard work he put in, that's why I preordered the Time Package.

Super excited about the demo songs too. What little we have heard they are amazing! Some had early Ensiferum vibe.
I have been listening live video version of Way of the Fire every now and then and even at that shitty quality it gives me goosebumps!
IMO I would be more than happy to get more music earlier even at the product quality of the debut album, then be positively surprised if Jari remastered new songs later.
I hope we don't have to wait those four new albums decade each!
08:47 That is an excruciating way to work on orchestration, that will takes ages to stuff done, especially for 10+ minutes songs. But no wonder their sound is so detailed and rich
It does seem like a mess but it seems to work for him.
As an amateur composer and enjoyer of orchestral music, his way of composing with VSTs is indeed very time consuming, but extremely effective. It gives the songs more depth with alot of variation and to the main riffs. It is what makes wintersun unique in my mind, as opposed to other composers in modern symphonic/ orchestral music, where the orchestrals are mainly playing more standard stuff, like doubeling the guitar or main melody. Just for an example, listen to the orchestral isolated track of Sons and you will hear something new every time you listen to it. Bottom line is that jari is a mastermind when it comes to making tons of variations on a melody, and fill it in with unique blends of synths and realistic samples

Got another sub guys. I rarely get overly excited by music releases anymore, but I really cant wait for this new Wintersun package. Been a fan of Jari since the Ensiferum debut. So this is big.
Jari is incredible, everything he does is out of this world. I'm grateful that I'm experiencing the whole thing with wintersun. I love this band and I'm really looking forward to time ll 💙💙 I would like to have a tour but everything in its own time. hopefully I'll see wintersun live 🤘🏼❤️

Look, the interviewer didn't ask the obvious question if Jari is going to make a remix of Time I with the new sound. I think it's clear at this point that they just don't wanna spoil it, because this is going to be the April addition.
I hope he does remix time 1. It sounds kinda flat to me so a remaster would be nice.

This was a great interview, great to hear Jari talk about a few things a bit more openly. 1200 tracks for SoW&S is insane! I thought they were all around 200-300, but man I can understand why they are such a pain to mix in that case. I do wish he had been more open in the past about the fact that he had not really worked on Time II since 2014, that makes a lot more sense for the general timescale, which I think would have taken away a lot of ammo haters have used
There would be time to finish the 80% album when waiting time2 ti release at the end of august. Then it would naturally continue the hype what time2 causes, release if for example for christmas and start touring 25 spring when band members still have time from nighwish etc.

I'm super pumped for this album release but I have no idea why Jari didn't just buy a PC. For the price of a Mac it would be more than enough to run any audio project.
Probably he likes working with Mac and the software. I don’t know how it is these days, but if you already have everything on a Mac, transferring that to Win environment might not be a good idea.
@@VilleKuitunen6 it's not the end of the world. If your project is being bottlenecked by computing power then you would probably change systems.

When the Mac Pro is the bottleneck...
You have no idea how many 1200 tracks are. As a fellow solo musician who does a bunch of orchestrations, even to me this number is outlandish lol. My 'still pretty new' M2 Mac Mini Pro starts to struggle with 50 virtual instrument tracks, let alone 1200 lol.
Yeah I have a €1000 MSI laptop from 2015. Already starts to struggle when I sit around 50 tracks.

@@THAMNOS 1200 is an understatement, there's a video here on YT called 'Sons of Winter and Stars Demonstration project', 2 parts. Released back in the day in 2012 on Time I bonus DVD. In that video he said Sons of Winter and Stars had 1682 tracks...
The fix with "CPU POWER PROBLEM" Just buy a VSL license and 2-3 computers link them and you are done for all your orchestrations and RAM and CPU !! 🎉

Artikkelissa mainittiin, että albumi on ollut työn alla vuodesta 2014, mutta onhan se ollut jo pidemmän aikaa tekeillä, tietääkseni jo vuodesta 2006 asti. 🤔
Jari sano, että lopetti Time II työstämisen 2014.
As far as I remember, Jari started the concept in 2006. And well after time passed, he realized that he can't do it in one album. So he split the album in 2 parts and in 2014 he couldn't continue to work at Time 2, I guess lack of motivation or something. (Which I totally understand, I have the same problem sometimes with my songs.)
And so in 2017 The Forest Season came.

The problem with this guy is that he allows the perfect to be the enemy of the good. Who TF actually needs 1200(!!!!) tracks in a single song??!! Who TF will actually even HEAR the difference? It's positively ridiculous! 2 guitars, bass, drums and a vocalist with attitude is all that metal bands need, anything else is superfluous. And whenever Wintersun start to tour, they'll be using the same venues and backline as any 'normal' metal band, meaning that all of this '1200 tracks' bollocks will be for nought.
If you use a complete symphonic orchestra and have a track for every single technique for all the different instruments, then you can definitely get close to 1000 tracks.
Although my mixing system is that I have the same exact tracks and mix for every single song on an album so some of them might become redundant.
No wonder other bandmembers are escaping to Nightwish. Because they are not a first priority in their own band anyways.
Escaping? They knew the Wintersun project would be a long-term endeavor. It’s called taking opportunities where they present themselves. I’m sure Nightwish and Megadeth pay QUITE well. It’s not like Jari has been out here raging and acting betrayed. He’s been quietly working on his music the whole time while the other guys do whatever they want/need to do. And guess what? Jukka, Kai, and Teemu stayed loyal to him as you can clearly see in the Time II preorder video. They love Wintersun’s music and they believe in their friend Jari. Nothing more to it.
Why do people like you always have to make drama where there is none. The other members and even Jari himself have had other jobs whether that been music or other industries. In fact it’s normal for musicians to have multiple gigs nowadays.
Jari has been all supportive for all of them so not bad blood anywhere ☝️
WIntersun was always meant to be a solo project by Jari and all the band members know that. They are purely session and live players
@@marcusaurelius5742 Excellent comment. They never left Wintersun. Who would.. Wintersun is unique band with unique master behind it after all. Nothing compares to that.
