VIETNAM: Get Lost in Da Nang and Hoi An

- In this episode we traveled to Central Vietnam -- to the ancient town of Hoi An and the beach town of Da Nang. In 2024, Hoi An is voted as one of the most beautiful cities in the world while Da Nang is often compared with the USA's Miami Beach.
From Hanoi, we took the 17-hour bus ride to Hoi An, just because we want to experience the sleeper bus to the central Vietnam area. But if you are short of time and budget isn't much of a problem, it is best to take a plane from Hanoi to Da Nang. Da Nang airport is small but decent and clean.
From Da Nang, you can take the bus or grab to Hoi An, which is just 45 minutes away.
HUNGRY FOR MORE
No visit to Hoi An is complete without indulging in its culinary delights. In all honesty, eating was the first thing we wanted to do upon our arrival in this town. Hoi An doesn’t disappoint.
MAGICAL MOMENTS
As the day turns to dusk, a boat ride along the Thu Bon River in Hoi An offers a tranquil escape. The setting sun casts a golden hue over the water, reflecting Hoi An's ancient town’s silhouette. It’s a moment of peace, a reminder that amidst the hustle and bustle, there’s always time to pause and reflect. This is Hoi An’s gift to its visitors: the chance to slow down and appreciate the beauty around us.
At night, Hoi An transforms into a fairy tale. Lanterns in every color adorn the streets, casting a magical glow. This nightly spectacle is more than just visually stunning; it’s a celebration of light and life. Participating in the lantern festival, releasing your own lantern onto the river, is a profoundly moving experience, symbolizing your wishes and dreams floating gently towards the horizon. Agggh, Hoi An, you are so beautiful!
It was a short stop in Hoi An for this vlog, but we knew we’d be back for more.

To truly understand Da Nang however, one must dive into the local lifestyle. This made me decide to spend a few weeks here - a stay that allowed me to make some friends, and be like a local. To say I grew to appreciate the city's charm is an understatement.

When in Da Nang, they said renting a motorbike and exploring the city and its surroundings gives you a sense of freedom and adventure.

Da Nang plays a crucial role in Vietnam’s tourism and culture. Its strategic location, connecting the north and south, makes it a gateway to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Hoi An Ancient Town and My Son Sanctuary.
