I enjoyed your video, especially listening to your historical view of the area and seeing you guys on the basket boat excursion. Congrats William getting over 100K subscribers.
Hi William, I was in HoiAn a few months ago and agree it was overcrowded. It is, however, a cool place to walk around and explore, especially at night when all the lanterns are lit. I spent 2 days there and overall I enjoyed it very much. I think you will enjoy the French village in BaNa Hills and the golden bridge. The ride up to the top of the mountain is awesome .
Many years ago I stayed Hoi An for a few days, but it was in the month of March, and there were nowhere near the people you experienced in here in May. It's absolutely crazy busy there now! Wow.
Another great video. as someone said, I went there years ago and there was no crowds at all. I recognize many of the buildings along the river. We ate in one restaurant all the time and got to know the family. my friends supported one of the sons wanted to get an education. Great times good food and it was so easy to get around. I would not want to be visiting back. Looking forward to your next video.
i visited Hoi An in 2017, a quaint town at that time. i am actually stunned at the crowds you encountered. i absolutely loved it there. great tailors (had suits and silk robes made), cobblers (had my favorite greek sandals dupicated) and restaurants with the most exquisite dumplings i've ever tasted.
Nice place right? I really liked Hoi An. I stayed a lot in the south in early 2000's and had a girlfriend from Saigon that lived in district 1. When I was there almost no tourists at all. In 2017. This is looking like mayhem. :-) :-) This is what it is always like in south east Asia in particular, things change very fast. I rode baskets in Nha Trang. Hoi An is what I visit because I like colonial architecture and history, in any country and also architecture in general. Interesting fact: To us the war is called the Vietnam War, for the vietnamese it is the American war 🙂
Hey William, I would be screaming my lungs out too!!! on remote bucket tour just in case whether i know what it means as long as my guide is happy lol please, let us know what's best for first timers thiland or vietnam. Thank you and take care bro!!!!
William! I enjoy your videos and travels! Just a word of advise....when you do your voice over music descriptions, the music is too loud, or your voice is too quite!! We can't hear what you are saying!!!
Me and my wife stayed for a month in Hoi An and loved it. Old Town is super touristy but still cool. Better to go in the morning before the tours come or in the evening when the tours have gone. Riding a scooter around the rice paddies and drinking coconut coffees (or "salt coffee"!) at the hidden shops is the best thing. The beach area is also really nice. You need to try Cau Lao noodles! It takes awhile to really get into the flow of the town but when you do it's magic. ....It might have helped that I had a female companion as it's a pretty romantic place ;)
I really enjoyed this one as I have been to Hoi An! Except it was very crowded when you were there! Wow! So many people. But the locals are so friendly and sweet. We had great coffee and food there as well!!
"dô hời... dô hầy" it's similar to this, has no meaning, Vietnamese people just shout/scream like that when rowing boats or doing hard physical work for more strength, also kind of a singing in Vietnamese traditional music or folk music: "Hò and Lý are a popular musical genre in the Vietnamese people’s life from ancient times, originating from the living habits in the valley, depicting the mood and emotions of the laborers. Hò is usually attached to a working movement." You can look up a folk song with title "Hò chèo thuyền Bắc Bộ"
William, Old Town is basically a tourist trap and you fell right into it. The food is over priced, not that good and jam packed with clueless tourist. The rest of Hoi An is quiet and quite nice with plenty of excellent places to get very tasty food at very cheap prices. A short walk from our house is a small coffee shop that has good snacks and the best Vietnamese salt coffee in Hoi An for 23k dong. I have lived in Hoi An for 5 years and there is much more to Hoi An than Old Town with wonderful places to see and visit.
@@robertkelly6282 NYC is a huge city compared to Hong Kong with its 7.4 million vs NYC with 8.0 million. How about New Delhi at 33.8 million or Shanghai with 29.8 million. NYC has nothing to compare to them in population. As for Hoi An, the local population is small but you can easily walk around the old town without the tourists. Now jam in thousands of tourists in a small area and it is like sardines in a tin.
Another great video William .😁 I agree with you that Communism is not the answer, but neither is any other Government system we have ever tried. It's pretty obvious by now that only a Theocratic Government will solve all of Mankind's problems and needs. But anyway I love your honest reviews. @@williamtaudien they are charging people too much it’s crazy they always do that you gotta just go extremely low much lower than they offer and if they say no walk away they will run after you and be like ok ok then they give you much closer to the real price. A few corrections: communism is only taking over in some very poor countries. USA had a chance to give Vietnam a better life but instead they simply supported the dictatorship in the South. Exactly the same in Cuba. The US and other countries can blame Castro but what did America give those countries when they had a chance to? They were squeezing them forcing the entire nation (but elites ) to live in extreme poverty. Then communism sounds like a great idea. Communism never develops in prosperous countries or in countries where people are not starving . If the US did a better job than this war would never have happened. Same for Cuba.
