- Reggae Artiste J.C. Lodge emerged at the start of the 1980s and became one of the leading female vocalists of her era. She would also end that decade on a high with her smash hit Telephone Love. But after a amazing run she would drop out of sight. This video traces the career and journey of this songbird

Someone loves you honey is that kind of song that brings me back to my childhood.
JC Lodge ❤❤ I was crazy about her when Telephone Love came out 🤩 Was crushed when I found out she was married 😂
June Lodge had a most beautiful voice and the song 'Someone Loves You' was a hit even in Holland. It's good to see her again! Jah bless!!!
Wowow, congratulations JC, We loved your music in Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹
A pioneer for sure....👌
I met her once in a patty shop in Jamaica queens and was rendered speechless. I couldn’t believe the impact she still had on me. She was so nice about, she realized right away that I was frozen in awe of her and proceeded to be completely human. I was 12 years old when I became a fan and still is to this day I’m 50 now.
JC's duet with Sugar Minott is the ultimate classic lovers rock song 🎵 since you came into my life 🎵
Really?😳 I've always thought Since You Came Into My Life was a duet with Dennis Brown..Or Perhaps she had separate versions with Sugar and Dennis???..🤔
@lawrencenjawe9875 there are indeed two versions, one with Dennis and Jean Adebambo, but JCs and Sugar's is my fav
Still got my Dutch vinyl,,,,,with Prince Mohhamed toasting/////Jah Bless
Another brilliant video and thanks for sharing 💕
Her voice on Telephone Love couldn’t be more sexy.
Excellent.
Thanks for that...
Someone One Love You J.C......
I've been quite familiar with the June Lodge story ( Glad she changed her stage name to JC LODGE. It sounds much more HIP). Frankly speaking, JC was the leading reggae songstress from the mid 80s into the 90s with the remarkable consistency of her releases. She blew my mind with Telephone ❤..But Someone loves you Baby was my introduction to her music around 85.. Probably my most memorable JC Lodge song. I guess I was 5 years late 😂😂😂
Well deserved video. Thank you once more.
Blessings mon thanks for watching ✌️
Soon as it was taco time I knew RAS had a new one out and this video inspired my new creation , yogurt salsa lol. Like June, I'm mixed race, European and Indian American so it seemed fitting to put the red American peppers with European yogurt. I think I'll name it June sauce 😊and will perfect it. Thanks again and Jah bless
Big up mi brethren ✌️ Let me guess...do you have have Sioux heritage?
@ReggaeAppreciationSociety unfortunately no. I'm Modoc, Yaqui and Luiseno. I've understood there are 3 types of Indians, anasazi like the Yaqui and Modoc claim to have always been here and we have the same DNA even as the Inca all the way to the south so maybe I am related to the Sioux too.
Archeologist are finding more evidence lately that we've been here much longer than previously thought. Then there are the Indians that came over the ice bridge in Alaska and migrated south. The last wave lingered up north I guess and only came down south in the 1500s, same time the Spanish arrived; that's the athabascan tribes like the navajo and the apache.
We 3 have different DNA but inter tribal marriage is a good idea lol and I'm of the 1st and 2nd wave. Anyway mi bredrin, I was so inspired to learn of miss June and my new recipe is already a hit. Blessings to you again 🙏
😁😁
Had no idea who she was till you mentioned the songs “ somebody loves you Honey” and “ Telephone love “. I grew up on both songs. My parents use to play “ Somebody loves you Honey “ on those long car rides from NY to Toronto and as I got older “ Telephone Love “ was all over the Radio in NY state. Every West Indian party had her music on at some point. Great video as usual and informative
Best channel on the tube!!
Give thanks!🇬🇳👑
First singer crush....
BIG TUNE ❤️💛💚🖤 I heard as an adult when it was already a classic. Thanks for the video on the sister.
Can you please do something on Errol Thompson of the former JBC fame ET

@@stuckintha90s good 4 u go for it
@@stuckintha90slol 😅
Clive Hunt heavily involved in her hit song
Imagine the nerve to credit yourself as a writer on a cover song and not expect to be sued.
😂😂😂😂😂
Arrogance or is it ignorance
Gibbs was taking a massive gamble and must have been either foolishly overconfident or just downright INSANE.....But at least there was a beneficiary to all this. It raised Charlie Pride's international profile among audiences who wouldn't have known this song was penned by a Great Country Music artist..One of THE GREATS in fact..😁😁
J.C. Lodge Telephone love was massive and funny enough for she was the first lady sound into the other phases of Dancehall rising up in the late 80's, early 90's and after that Diana King was killing it internationally, but in the long run especially hearing her story I'll stick with J.C. Lodge and for other reasons I won't expose in here about losing my respect for Diana King
Reggae first GLOBAL Reggae Superstar…..?…..NO…..Desmond Dekker…..?……YES!
Beautiful songs but by far not the first cross over artist
Consistently bringing the unravelled brown sugar culture...
That criminal said he wrote the song 😅😅😅😅😅😅
Her first hit… destroyed Joe Gibbs…. Not her fault…..
"FIRST" ?...REALLY?....No shade to J.C. but WHY are you DISRESPECTING Millie Smalls (MY BOY LOLIPOP)???
Millie was the first star but JC Lodge was crossover (reggae & soul)
Oh..Hmm..!! .My Boy Lollipop...Era defining music..!!!.That track should be officially endorsed by music and cultural institutions for its importance and significance in the development and evolution of popular music and culture ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ska Ska Ska ❤
@@lawrencenjawe9875 yep my boy lollipop was pure ska
