i love the skoda yeti, One gets really suprise how good that car is. its not the nicest car to look at but damn its a practical car and with the big diesel engine (170hp) its fun to drive to
Any plans to modify the gearbox; maybe reduce the ratios for 1st & 2nd and/or the final drive? Also, would it be worth changing the haldex to be manually selectable rather than waiting for loss of traction to engage it?
He guys...this yeti is so sick...so want one now. Can u do a dacia duster next...extreme overlander.... Subscribed cos of this one build. Amazing yeti guys...sweet as... Peace.
Nice job!!!! Did you have to extend the drive shafts when you did the lift? Or fit longer ones from another vehicle? Would bigger springs and shocks from another vehicle achieve the same lift? If so, any idea what would be a suitable donor? Would love to do this with mine!!!!!
No standard shafts should work perfectly with it! Possibly but might not be as straight forward as the lift kit. Drop us an email to sales@darksidedevelopments.co.uk with reg/vin and we can help you out with lift kit's etc on there
Amazing work on the Yeti! 🖤 Please let me know where you got the spare wheel mount from so I can attach one to my Yeti - looking to convert mine so need all the interior space I can get. Currently thinking of placing my spare wheel in my roof rack for now 🥲 keep up the great content!x
It was a custom wheel carrier that attached to our receiver hitch. If you drop us an email to sales@darksidedevelpments.co.uk with reg/vin we might be able to help out with it
The DPF needs to come off to do it but you need to hollow it out if you take the EGR off anyhow. If it's 4x4 you need a ramp really. Otherwise, get the car high or you won't get the pipe out.
Thanks for subscribing! Depends on budget really, Yeti's can be picked up cheap and as you have seen, work well off road. A Niva would probably be a good laugh
@@DarksideDevelopments yeti 4x4 is far from being cheap (well maybe there are in germany, but here in southern parts of europe sure arent), i can get jimny that has better off road capabilities for far less (not road friendly, nor wallet through high consumption), and pandas are available too, but given the price, yeti is far better option.
Brilliant! Full send at the end! Done some epic off roading in mine standard. Just all season tyres. Good job with the fit out Did all the air bags go off??
@DarksideDevelopments, I know you've created a specs page for this Yeti - one thing missing is the offset of the steel wheels you put on. Are they ET50? ET45? Or something else? Love the car. It's inspired me to do something similar with our Yeti soon.
Bought one for my daughter second hand a few years ago. Great economical car and very versatile. Unfortunately Skoda shafted us in Australia by removing the 4 x4 capability without changing the badge. Only found out it was AWD when I saw no hill descent button on the dash. A call to Skoda Australia confirmed that it is not a 4 x 4 in Australia, rather the AWD version with a 4 x 4 badge. As I wanted some offroad capability, I wouldn't have bought it had I known this. Lots of our tracks are very sandy (beaches) and if you don't have a selectable 4x4, you are bottomed out before the AWD senses loss of traction and kicks in. Ground clearance is not great, even modified. I would want full length bash plates before attempting anything like this. Incidentally that last jump had me terrified when the rear wheel carrier swung out. Lucky no one was filming from side of track, and the car veered left.
These all left the factory with Haldex AWD system so the car you have is the same as the one in the video's. No-one was filming there because we are not silly!
@@DarksideDevelopments Her car has no "off road" button in the dash despite being badged as 4 x 4. Not sure what that means in the context of the system then. Any ideas? I didn't word my concerns about the spare swinging out very well, point taken.
@@DarksideDevelopments exactly. You can have AWD on demand with the Haldex system without the off road "package" which included "the button". Never used my button on the beach the few time I went up them here in QLD, and AWD worked great. That said the Yeti is not a true 4x4, and if you need a true lock-able 4x4 buy something dedicated.
@@DarksideDevelopments thx for info. i did all parts by my self. working on cnc. i can do this rod as well. love your work. I do with my skoda same thing. how big tires and felg you have on yours. and do the spacers fix issue with rubbing. i have 17" and 65 tire profil and its rubbing all arround.

This is so cool, i love it. Congrats on the build and the video. Got me inspired for sure! I've been looking for this kind of build for some time. I'm saving money for my first car and my options are the Yeti, Grand Vitara 2 and Outlander 2. I wouldn’t call it overlander… weekend offroader maybe. Good for fun for someone but for real overlanding unusable. Snorkle will get damaged after first meeting with wild animal or heavier branch, and spare wheel carrier will fall after couple hundreds kms of rough roads… good skills and effort but i would rather use them for building something usable
Luckily we've not met any wild animals yet and it's done plenty of miles on rough roads and the only time the wheel carrier broke was wen't it was fully sent up the hill...It is entirely usable
I hope skoda watching this and taking notes!!
I would like so, but as I know how it goes in our factory, they arent... 😐
I just saw that you raffled off this Yeti YESTERDAY. I could cry. Dream car for me.
