Just passed 380 miles in the Vomero 16. Still feels pretty good. Haven’t seen any issues with outsole wear, but do have a small hole starting on the inside of the heal cup. I’ve been very surprised in how much I like this shoe for my daily miles.
I love this shoe, already done about 150 miles in them. I have been using a zoomx insole cutout from my busted tempos in the front over the pod though, as I always felt it in my feet later in the run. Durability wise I think it will easily last 500 miles easy with the same pop
Thanks for another great in depth review Mike. Like one of the earlier comments I really wanted to like this shoe but alas I just couldn’t get on with it and sold it after about 30 miles. It felt to me like a shoe of two halves with no smooth transition between the heel and forefoot and I could feel the air pod beneath the ball of my foot after a few miles so sadly they had to go. Always interesting to see your videos even if the shoe didn’t quite work though. Thanks Ian 🇬🇧
Great review as always ! I have found this Vomero 16 much more durable than the Invincible. I returned my invincibles after 45kms as the outsole was peeling off and had high levels of heel wear. I swapped them for the Vomero 16 and could not be happier, now 180kms in, hardly any wear on the heel (unusual for me as a heavy heel striker) the bounce is still there and i'm super happy with it. I use it as an everyday as well as long runs and it suits me perfect, looking to pick up another pair in the mid year bargains. C'mon Nike lets have some better colour ways please !
I’ve run in these and multiple prior versions (V10-V13). While I like this version, the Zoom Air pocket really bothers me, especially on my right foot. For this type of shoe it’s beyond me why (other than legacy marketing) Nike wouldn’t eliminate the front Zoom Air pocket and just use Zoom X in the forefoot as well, even if a carrier was needed. It would get rid of that feeling of running in two different shoes at once (heel vs. forefoot) you mentioned in one of your prior reviews. Keep up the great reviews! You’re a tremendous resource.
About to take them out for the first time shortly. Have been wearing the vomero 14 since I got them for like $12 at the Nike outlet. Excited to see how the 16 has improved
I really like V16, I also have Peg 38 and it does everything Peg 38 does, but better. I feel both are clunky and heavy (Peg 38 has a giant toe box) but Vomero is softer. I like V16 so much that I use it more casually than for running, it's very comfortable for daily use. On a side note, if you live in a hot country like myself (Brazil), Vomero 16 is not the shoe for your morning/mid-afternoon runs. I run at night so I'm already used to it, but it's not a breathable shoe. Thanks for the review, your video on Brooks Hyperion Tempo was the reason I bought it on a discount and it's now my favorite shoe! 😃🇧🇷👍🏻
I tried this current Vomero at a Nike store and compared it with the Invincible Run on the other foot and invincible run was much bouncier and more cushioned. For easy long run or daily training, I always go with the high stack like invincible run and infinity run.
I hit 400 in mine pretty comfortably. Could probably go a lot more but I retired them just to be safe from injury. Def a slower shoe, perfect for 8:30ish pace
I do a lot of trail running on my long run on a Sunday. To get to those trails I have to do a few miles on paved roads first. The Vomero for me is the perfect hybrid. Great on trails, comfy upper and with tread thats not so thick and unresponsive that it compromises road running. I've probably put 200-300 miles on mine since I bought them late last year, the tread is hardly worn at all. As a heel striker I usually destroy the tread pretty quickly on my shoes, the tread on the Vomero seems pretty indestructible.
@@kofuzi - it might be my running style but for me the full length rubber coverage on shoes like the Vomero and the Invincibles increase their durability massively over the Pegasus. Where I heel strike I tend to wear down those thin black outer edge rubber strips on the heel of the Pegasus's very quickly.
Good review as always! I put about 30 miles in this shoe and wanted to like them but ended up returning. After putting 400 miles in the vomero 14, infinity react v1 and even Peg 35 as daily trainers up to half marathon distance, these just fell short of expectation. Compared to the aforementioned nikes, the 16s just seemed clunky, too firm in forefoot and an over engineered upper. Also not very breathable even in cooler Florida winter-ish months. Cheers!
They felt oddly unstable in the forefoot in the store. I wanted to like them too. Went with the invincible for even cheaper so that was a no brainer. I hope they work out though cause I’m 180lbs and realize that not every shoe works.
I have seen some Nike Invincible reviews in the 500-600 mile range with life left in them, which is impressive. The Nike Vomero looks to be about a 300 mile shoe, and the price difference is only $30 dollars.
imo, vomero 16. but since you've included the peg shield, I'm assuming you live in a wet climate (or it's wet where you are this season). if it's cold and wet, then I'd actually look at peg trail gtx. if it's hot and wet, vomero 16
I never saw the Vomero as a max-cushioned shoe, but more as more plush daily trainer. For those people, who want a bit more stability and a softer ride than the Pegasus.
Put about 80 miles on mine with mostly easy runs and few long runs. I really wanted to love these shoes because of the techs, but the forefoot has too much ground feel despite having air zooms while heel is well cushioned. The overall ride feels clumsy and confusing.

I have been thinking of switching to the Vomero because the Peg is just not the same anymore. Thanks for the update!

I had the same problem with the zoom air pads. Really felt them under my right foot.
Like a half-insole? It doesn't slip?
@@michaeltanel3815 yep the tempo insole is a bit sticky, doesn't slip at all
The vomero 14 was absolutely amazing wish I got a pair with that said tho these are really nice excited to see what they l do next year

Might want to check multiple retailers, as Nike makes some exclusive colors for them

I really hope that puffy tongues are a trend that are on their way out. whenever I see one, I cringe at how much sweat it is going to collect

Ko, you act surprised to say Nike is upside down. I’m done with Nike! #thankbutnothanks
Is vomero 16 is a stability shoes?
No
The forefoot cushioning is neglected by most of the companies for those of us who land towards the front.

How do you feel compare to Nimbus 24, similar feeling and using?
@kofuzi already done a „vs.“ video that compare this two shoes.
Thanks, I will check it out
So much wear after just 100 miles…
