  • This is my authentic reaction to Ren, Money Game Part 3. I'm a teacher and the resolution that I think Ren is trying to set here really hit home for me. I decided to make this basically an unedited reaction.

This is what Ren does. He’s a TEACHER, disguised as an entertainer. He’s profoundly impacted my way of thinking on so many levels that I can honestly say I’m not the same as before I came upon his artistry. We all have the potential to learn and grow and be better than what we were before. Influencing isn’t always a bad thing.

There was no rambling. I feel more than comfortable saying that a large part of Ren's influence/inspiration is that he provokes legitimate dialog. Not small talk, but dare I say actual rhetoric! There's so much sugar-coated fluff out there that I don't think many of us realize just how culturally starved we are for actual meaning and substance. And he is the real thing, IMNSHO. Don't think I didn't notice the change of content on the easel in the background! ;-) Looks pretty good, BTW. I think your students are in very capable hands. Cheers!

I am a father of a boy (14 years old) I think teachers SHOULD educate and influence our youth! But raising the children is for parents to do, the school today tries to do both. Teachers are so important to our future society but politicians do not understand that in any country. greetings from Sweden

Dude, I remember that staring and silence after the first time I watched this too. Wow. I really resonated with your reaction - first thing I did after watching this was to sit down next to my boys (3 and 5 at the time) and say “I love you, and I’m proud of you.” And since that day I’ve eschewed capital gain in deference to personal connection and fulfilment and I’m a much happier person for it (as in turn are my family).
I don’t know you outside your reactions, but I believe you’re doing a great job man. Keep fighting the good fight ✊

This reaction is really something. It's a snapshot of the power of music in action. Here's a teacher touched, and maybe changed a little, by a song. Some small part of that will likely spill over into his work, thus touching the lives of many children. A rising tide indeed!
    Great reaction man!

Money game 1 explained the game . Money game 2 told us how you can win on the games terms . Money game 3 shows us what you win if you use money as your only criteria for success. Jimmy had no relationships with anyone . Even his mother had been sidelined from his existence. I dont think Ren is against money as much as he is for community ,friendship ,love . Look at the way Ren has brought his community with him . I dont think those people who he loves would ever let him make the same mistakes as Jimmy. I think he just wants us to check our priorities and look after each other because money and fame wouldn't be worth it otherwise.
    Thanks great reaction.

    Oh rain rain rain rain…
The first time I saw this during the premiere I just sat in shocked silence afterwards and the only coherent thought I could think was that if Netflix doesn’t give this master storyteller his own show, they’re fools.
Since then one of the things that gets me the most is the father telling a FIVE YEAR OLD to learn to be a man. No child at that age should think about anything but being a child. Far too many reactors let that part slide, but it really says so much about the toxic parenting. If you let those first words from the father properly sink in, it’s not so surprising that things only get worse from there. Unfortunately Jimmy ends up living for his father’s approval. He hangs on his every word and follows his guidance so much that he gets completely lost when the father is no longer there. So instead of finding freedom, he spirals. And Jimmy is just an exaggerated version of all of us. It could be anyone under the money bag, blinded by greed, with the wrong guidance and pressure.
Ren makes it so painfully clear that we really must instill the right values in children before it’s too late. And we all need to do better TOGETHER if we don’t want greed to destroy us all. So much wisdom, and he shares it all through clever rhymes, genius storytelling, and beautiful music. A truly special artist and one that the world needs 🐰🕳️
Also just a little info to end this on a lighter note: there is one cut when the camera goes behind the wheelchair, but it’s because Ren only had the one custom suit and could hardly make everyone involved wait for it to dry between takes 😅 And really, that section is still pretty long to have to practice and nail to perfection. The entire video is just a masterpiece in direction, coordination, and execution to fulfill a vision. No wonder Sam and Ren won an award for it.

Mg3 physically acts the other parts out. 1st example is the mirror and removal of the money bag is the physical demonstration of "point the mirror at ourselves we're all part of this old money game" lyric. There's also turns a saint into a sinner, a child into a killer; actual rain for the rain rain rain rain 🌧️ lyric, the spinning globe is as the world turns, the whole world burns, and there's a literal finger on the trigger in the video. There are others in there also. Love the reaction ❤

    • @robingayle68
      @robingayle68 8 місяців тому

BTW there is one hidden cut as the camera pans around the wheelchair (good catch). It was necessary to move the lav mic from the lapel to the tie so Ren could remove the jacket in case a second run through was needed (not enough time for the jacket to dry) . I recommend the BTS by Wolf Johnson if you want to see the process involved in making these 1 take videos. Mg3 was a true one take. This is the first and only run through of the mg3 video ❤

Omg great reaction, it wasn’t rambling at all, it was thoughtful and insightful. I sincerely appreciate how you question yourself, as we all should, not neurotically but in a healthy way. The people who need to be introspective right now are deliberately choosing not to be. You don’t need to impose your values on to your students. You can to teach them how to be curious and how to process information, and how to be introspective in a healthy way, or empathetic, etc. there are so many good things to learn from the subjects you teach, that’s freaking amazing ❤you are appreciated!

The money game 3 video is a stark reminder to us all that the pursuit of wealth can get out of hand! We need to find a balance! As a community, as parents, as educators, as role models, we need to reinforce core values! Money means different things to everyone but eventually you realize all the money in the world means nothing without health, family, friends, and all the simple pleasures in life! I want to say first that i’ve had some great teachers and i admire good teachers who are passionate about education. It sounds like you are one of these teachers. I have only known one professor’s politics and that was in college. I also want to say that i think it’s up to you to decide if you’re greedy-only you know. Last, i think it’s great that Ren’s lyrics make you (and me, too) self-reflect and be more aware of what influences us and maintain some separation from those influences. I think his overall goal in the money game series was to do just that. A key phrase for me is ‘put your hand inside the cookie jar, take MORE than you need.’

You were fighting against the trend of the internet headline readers.
      .
      I fear it's a lost cause.
Ironic that the generations with easy, Instant access to the greatest repository of knowledge ever are manipulated into the confirmation bias of headline "opinions" which when shared between many outlets serve the purpose of confirming that "everyone says so therefore it's true", without even opening the articles to discover they are literally "the same".

My thoughts from Ren’s message: Money has an unintended distorting effect on our natural inclination to make holistic choices about transactions we make. Money should be about what human value and positivity you can create from your time on this rock not the end in itself. It creates capacity for value but is not the value. Loved the reaction

This is possibly the best reaction to Money Game Pt 3 that I have seen - and I have seen probably 100+ LOL. Thank you. Thank you for an incredible reaction- I concur with literally everything you said. I understood the song in the very same way you did and it's a great feeling, I could never express it as eloquently as yourself though :). As a parent myself I can totally relate to the angle of a teacher, someone that younger generations look at for advice and guidance. • @GarnetJ

Great reaction! Don’t worry about pausing or taking the time to reflect. We especially love hearing you tie in your thoughts to your teaching.
I loved the piano and string composition in this! It added such a cinematic element. This could be adapted into a stage production. Ren is a master storyteller.
I like that Ren’s focus throughout the money game series isn’t really about the money, but how we value it and how it is used. But he always cautions us not to point fingers, but to engage in self-reflection as well. We are all a part of the money game. And if we keep going down the same path, things won’t be pretty. As a history teacher, I know you see that we have a hard time learning from the past. But hopefully thought provoking artists like Ren and others can inspire the next generation to shift the focus towards homeostasis.
I also see this as another example of generational trauma. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Screech was born James, and presumably so was Jimmy. Screech was born into nothing. Jimmy was born into privilege. But both suffered from trauma and didn’t receive a loving and nurturing upbringing. The lack of a safe and loving home and learning the wrong lessons early on sent them both into tragic downward spirals.
And MG3 ends with the line from the Tales, “it’s such a shame.” If Jimmy had found a way to break away from his father’s psychological control, imagine what he could have accomplished and the ways he could have built up the community around him. I think that’s a core message in a lot of Ren’s music.

    • @GarnetJ
      @GarnetJ 8 місяців тому +2

A song suggestion from Ren’s earlier catalogue that I think you would appreciate as a teacher is “Dominoes.” It’s a great song and a great message. It’s likely one that you would want to share with your students.

Influencing children. A good example is us, Hungarians. In school we have to learn a ballad "The bards of Wales". Was written by a Hungarian poet, about the times of England taking over Wales in maybe the XIII th century. It was said, Edward executed 500 bards of Wales, for refusing to welcome him. The ballade is translated, while the original just as powerful as Ren.
Influence: We admire freedom and the bards of Wales, as Ren is. I am sure of, all Hungarians are big fan of him, if they hear him once

Ren is Truly a Once in a Multi-Generational Artist on the Level of Shakespeare. He is a Performance Art Master who blends music and character acting from all the styles over the last 500 years and makes it Modern and Relatable to all Generations even if normally you may not be a fan of whatever genre he is currently performing. From Location and Video Directing Worthy of Tarantino or Spielberg, to Lyrics Shakespeare would have been Proud to have Written, To an Emotional Performance on par with Marlon Brando or Morgan Freeman and the Musical Prowess of Jimmy Page or Eric Clapton and the Vocal Chops of Robert Plant or M&M! In Money Game Pt3 when offering His Solution to the Societal Issues he is showcasing, Ren stated "Mold will Grow upon the Surface and Consumes til it dies, and Our Fate could be the same without this Story to the Wise" The more I hear from Ren the more I realize his Solution is to be a Teacher Opening the Eyes of Millions with his Art and his Heart! And I think Ren's message is Crystal Clear. Ambition and Passion Without Compassion Will Cause the World To Burn! But Ambition and Passion WITH Compassion Can Save It! His Compassion is Manifestly Obvious and If enough of Us actually LISTEN to his words, then Maybe, Just Maybe the Hunan Race may Survive!

I got so excited when your video appeared in my feed this morning! Your reactions are worth the wait. No rambling at all. Just honest, heartfelt expression of thoughts and emotions.
I agree with everything you mentioned. I recently spoke at my local high school's career day. I'm a 62 yr old woman who floundered through life career-wise and am now starting self-employment as a creative entrepreneur. I emphasized following your passsions and seeking employment that aligns with your interests and values over just making money, and if you can't find a job that suits you, create your own. I'd love to see more vocational and trade schools. I don't know how many schools teach the basics of providing for yourself nowadays. My senior year we were given the option to take business math (learning budgeting and how to balance a checkbook). We also had home economics and typing electives but that was in an all-girl private Catholic high school. I was a poor Protestant kid on scholarship.
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and feelings with us! 🙋‍♀️💖

That motif that you mentioned hit me the same the first time I watched this. It immediately made me think of Goodfellas because its sounds similar to the riff from Layla that was used in that movie. I wouldn't be surprised if that was a conscious decision on Ren's part, given the lyrics during that part of Money Game 3.

Love your perspective as a teacher. 👨‍🏫 What's important is the conversation and the awareness this brings. Taking the blinders off, looking in the mirror. One of the reasons Ren flows with the music so well is because he composed it all. (1st 4 piano bars was a Grieg piece) So he sets the tone, the mood and the beat. There was that one hidden cut behind the wheel chair because of logistics. One other when bag comes off his head. It was a tinderbox in there. I imagine he was dripping wet, so he had to dry off.

    • @QueenBabylonnia

There was one cut, the one behind the chair. REN had one suit and the microphone also needed to be protected from rain…. So best place for cut, unfortunately one instrument accidentally became wet. Kudos to the lady who held her instrument close but did not move.

@@QueenBabylonnia There's actually 2 cuts, per Sam himself at a recent award show. It was 100 degrees in the warehouse when they filmed. The cut is when he takes the bag off his head. He was probably soaked. They probably had to dry him off and then continue. If you look close you can see the difference in his hair before and after the cut.

Really good, sincere reaction friend. Feels like it is so destructive individually, to society and globally that we have lost track of what it is to value ourselves, others and our home. Amazingly insightful reaction. I really appreciate your willingness to dive deep into the insightful and open side of yourself. I self reflected in the same way. Which is part of Rens goal imo. I'm elated to follow and appreciate a new artist that tries endlessly to help us all reflect, not only on ourselves, but the world around us.

I think from your comments here, that you've learned about yourself through this Money Game series, and that Ren did what he intended and made you think. I applaud you for following your heart and becoming a teacher. Then knowing how you want to teach is to equip your students to think for themselves and go the direction that gives them satisfaction and happiness not to train them to become sheep. I feel that that's 'success' in itself. Ren really is an all around genius. I appreciate your comments and point of view and have subscribed to hear more of your thoughts. (I wish I had more teachers like you when I was coming up) Thank you.

Please watch Ren's 8 Chapters on Renmakesstuff. Dont need to react, but pkease witness his journey with us. It is videos documenting his 8 year nightmare with his illness. Very powerful, detailed and brutally honest, hard but beautiful and full of inspiration. Man's a warrior. The newest song Troubles is meant to summarize the Chapters.
    Good job Teach!❤

Excellent reaction. Spot on. I think your students are lucky to have you. I’m glad my parents taught me to provide for myself and my family. They never put pressure on me and always told me how much they loved me and how proud they were. I fell, cleaned my knees and hands and started over. Thank you for your reaction

Peach Preview, (yes I forget your name,)
One thing I can assure you of is that some of us LOVE the rambling. The wisdom. Your history. Your passion for teaching and doing the things the right way!
Please don’t change the rambling. Or you at all as far as how you could be seen or criticized. A major percentage of us feel the exact same. For me, and I’ve seen so many hundreds and thousands of others who, becasue if “Hi Ren,” we now know that “I must not forget. we just not forget. We are only human beings.”
For me, that meant I am equal to anyone else. I am perfect.
Sir, I am a rambler, (sorry to go on about rambling, but that’s me c and I am perfect enough. Have a spot in this world and market place,) and I loved listen to your so called rambling. I get criticized by people, well, my wife, and they, she, tries to make me feel like it’s not ok. I’m not ok. Normal. Equal. But now, becasue if Ren and beautiful souls like you, I don’t give a sheet and I know there is a place for me in this world! Thank you so much for this beautiful reaction.
This song, performance, lyrics, are kind blowing. I e listened to dozens and dozens of reactions to it, and I love you as much as any of them. I am a new subscriber and can not wait to dive deeper into your Ren journey, REN rabbit hole! I know it will be beautiful and I am pumped!
    Talk To you soon!

No, you’re not rambling…you were hit with ongoing unfortunate truth channeled through extreme talent. This goes on and on, generation to generation and I do believe it begins in one’s home and teachers definitely play a part. I understand you need to walk that ‘fine line’, but by pure example they will pick up on your insights and knowledge of Truth. You have a fine character, intelligent observations and I’m enjoying binging your Ren reactions while packing🤗 So glad you got turned on to him.

I watched your reaction to Money Game backwards. Anyway, I came back here because you said you liked the continuation of the chorus from part one into part two. In an interview, (wish I could remember which - maybe Knox Hill) Ren said that he liked that he was able to bring that chorus into part three with the visuals: the mirror, the rain and the trigger are all there. Kudos also to Samuel Perry Falvey for being a great filmmaker

But as a parent, after a point, how else does one survive in this country? I showed my kids all that I was never shown. All the things I didn't know I could be. But I also showed them what it would take. Do all the work. Every bit. Now how will you make money to live and what do you want to hold to just your joy. Your art and happiness.
Wanting to live and be happy is reasonable. I don't know anyone who has ever taken a teaching job who is greedy. The two things don't match.

These are the best reactions I've seen to the MG series. You 'get it' ... and your openness and honesty in exploring the material as it relates to yourself is truly thought provoking. I think Ren would be so happy with your take on his work.
+1 sub and beating the heck outta that bell, Peach.
Let's look to make changes in the world. Because, if music doesn't make a change... then what's even the point? Ren makes music that matters... the least we can do is carry it forward into action. Or, at least, growth.
Much love to you, a true fellow Renegade, from ALL the UK Renegades o/ o/ o/

Just found your Ren playlist and watched all. I’ve found your reactions to be pretty insightful. Congrats on your wedding, probably at least the first year of marriage. I started as an EMT also. Then became a paramedic and now an ED RN for 27 years. Teaching is a job I could never do. I have difficulty tolerating other people’s kids too often. So props for that. Keep doing what you ❤.

Wow what a great reaction dude! Love your reflections on this and how each of us can take something from it to either improve ourselves or how we interact with others. None of it is rocket science, we all know these things, but rens storytelling helps to clear those lines that are so often blurred, and he does it with impact and relates it to everyone

Man there is not too much art that makes you genuinely feel things you didn’t even expect to feel like rens music, and isn’t that the goal of any music , any art , I don’t care whatever hights he reaches , this man should be studied and taught as much as Shakespeare, Vincent Van Gogh , Michael Angelo, any of the greats , cause this can’t be taught , only studies and noted as the highest level of art , and what actual art is supposed to be , I saw that in you on this reaction, was nice to see , you are a teacher , teach the kids , let them understand what’s possible when you are as great as you can be regardless of what main stream thinks or says , he’s not even signed to a label , and if he was , we wouldn’t get this , speak draw write your own truth , and people will feel it , just my opinion, great reaction, thanks

As for college, times change (a global pandemic), technology changes making certain professions obsolete, interests change, skills and talents are often discovered years later after school, the stigma of not working in a top dollar career is a lot for a teenager coming out of high school. Not every student knows exactly what they want and with little life experience, their idealism taught to them is often shattered once they are in college. I started college decades later and it is the best time of my life!

New subscriber; been loving the Ren reactions! 🙏 I see a lot of people that understand the message of the Money Game trilogy, but miss who and what he's telling us about. It's important to clarify that success & achievement are not inherently bad by themselves. Similarly, money itself isn't bad. Its when those pursuits come at the cost of others. For example: someone can be at the top of their field, earning far more money than they need to live -- that's not a bad thing if they worked their butt off to get there. In most cases, people don't dictate how much money they make; that is decided (in most cases) by how valuable what they do is *TO OTHER PEOPLE*.
In your case specifically, the fact you have the ability to monetize multiple channels means that you're providing content that is good enough that people choose to consume it. Even the channels with content you don't particularly enjoy, you're fulfilling a need for others. People choosing to consume your content is not a exploitative relationship. That's not a bad thing, you're putting things out into the world that enhance it.
Ren makes us cognizant of the Money Game, and the insight he gives us is important and valuable to be aware of. It shouldn't discourage anyone from doing the work they do, so long as they're not stepping on others just to benefit themselves.
    ✌, ❤, & Ren
