    Wow ! I just discovered your channel and I am blown away. This is song is above my level because I haven't played in over 10 years due to a right middle finger injury but I want to give this song a shot. It will probably take a couple of months to learn and play it but I will send you a link when I'm comfortable in playing it. Thank you so much for giving me the spark to challenge myself and get back to playing.

    Funksmash! Cant say enough how helpful these videos are for someone who doesn't read music but wants to learn some funk techniques and chords/voicings for productions. For anyone in the same boat as me I would also recommend the tutorial videos from Vulfpeck and Professor Goss. @groovewindow You did mention some input on what we'd like to see and for me it would be some of your favourite voicings and a brief walkthrough of how you might compose/arrange a tune. Many thanks again.

  • @givertayk
    @givertayk 5 років тому +3

    Love love this! Already started learning it.
    In terms of future content, my only request is higher frequency! The content and grooves are such high quality (new cameras and set up are looking 🔥🔥). I also would love videos about your writing process. I first fell in love with funk years ago when I first discovered your videos. I've taken a few cracks at writing my own grooves with some good success, but I'd love more insight!
    Lastly, I'd recommend putting a preview of the groove as the very first thing in the video. It would act as a great visual hook and likely boost your clicks and views.

A decade back I watched Funk piano groove #4 and when I saw this video I immediately recognized you. back then I could only play the piano a little bit and I don't think I'm much better now, but just like back then your way of teaching this mixed with the enthusiasm really gets to me. I grabbed my old midi keyboard and I'm already halfway through this video (Only took about one and a half hour lol) . Your way of teaching clicks with me. If I ever manage to play this fluently you WILL get a video from me. Stay awesome man. Also the tunes you pick for this are just sooo good. Do you write them yourself? They are amazing.

    Favorite one yet! And thank you so much for the sheet music and the backing tracks - us classically trained musicians just aren't as cool as the rest of you and really appreciate the help. RECOMMENDATION FOR YOUR NEXT PIECE: Christmas! - I would love to see what you could do when you bring your flavor of funk to a Christmas tune. That, and us mere mortals will need a couple of months to get it down, so don't wait until the snow starts falling.

    I love the groove by the way and will get started learning it.
    So things I would like to learn/understand from you:
    How do you compose these funk grooves? Don you pull in elements of what you have heard in the past?
    Do you use the blues scale to come up with riffs?
    Do you ever think in modes for any of these?
    You asked what more would people like to hear? Well O was wondering of you could come up with something more jazz funk compared to your excellent straight funk grooves. Something towards Herbie Hancock or Johnnie Hammond or Donald Byrd?
    Much appreciated for the time you put into all this.
