- Well, several of you sent this to me asking me to make a response video, so I did it! We cover a lot of ground, from effective worship music practices, to music cognition, to prejudice, to voodoo, to whatever a "faith-based abortion" is... and lots of uncomfortable laughs were had!

Be it is as it may, modern worship msuic is really crappy. I prefer 1960's southern gospel - regardless whether sung by black or white people. And not just as a personal preference, this music is just stronger

Christian Berdahl is a conman, and his syncopation take is wrong. Hell, he even did the wrong demonstration. Christian is either musically illiterate or a conman looking to sell his music. I don’t mind the latter if he’s honest
I found this video because I was looking up information about Christian for my own video, and this was super helpful.
He has a 10part video series about this, where he talks about Music history, brain going to ”alpha mode”, Blues n Jazz is from The devil and so on

Adam you stated that you have the credentials to rebuke Berdahl presentation, but you have failed in your attempt because you seems not to have any coherent understanding of his presentation or even of the topic that you addressed. For example, on the Alpha versus Beta you claimed that "really the beta that he's sort of going for is actually triggered more by syncopated music..."
Not sure how that’s a failed argument, unless you didn’t finish the comment? Berdahl is arguing that beta brainwave activity is a good thing, and that syncopated music is bad because it doesn’t inspire beta brainwave activity, but syncopated music inspires greater beta brainwave function than “unsyncopated” music. So he’s either misunderstanding beta brainwave activity, misunderstanding syncopation, misunderstanding both, or he’s being intentionally misleading.
The whole time I was thinking "he's going to use music by a black person as devil's music isn't he?"

I think you just took a tiny portion of all his research that he was explaining during an interview and made your conclusions using parody based on your "knowlegde". You should watch one of his whole seminar and then make your arguments.
I watched the whole thing, I have a master’s degree, and I’m a published academic in the field of music perception. If this is how much you read the room before opening your mouth, I can’t imagine you’d be a good debate partner.
@@AdamODell Now I know what kind of person you are. I am an expert in Engineering area, but I don't need to use this to validate my arguments. Ridicule somebody does not make you a better person, quite the opposite I think.
I would have respected your position if coming from a more humble spot. As I always have thought, if knowlegde make you more arrogant, it is doing the wrong effect.

Alpha vs Beta, Either Berdahl with his limited knowledge is quoting scientists from NCBI and scienceDirect who do not make sense , or O'Dell with your degree in music and your personal opinions do not make sense! So far you are the less convincing!
You got the brother wrong.
He also has some syncopated songs like Joy to the world.
But what he is trying to emphasize is that syncopation should not be done throughout the song.
Check out his 10 serie seminar explaining all this. It's called Distraction dilemma.
If you want to disprove him, first watch those series.

I watched the entire series before making this video. Just because it doesn’t appear in the video doesn’t mean I haven’t read/watch something.
Again, there is absolutely zero proof that anything that he says about syncopation, whether built into the beat through or it only happens occasionally, is true. These are entirely culture-specific opinions that he is irresponsibly treating as fact.
And the irony of you telling me to stay humble when this is my area of expertise because you watched one video series is not lost on me.
@@AdamODell I respect your expertise in this field but however you may be having the theory and no personal experience of these syncopated beats in the voodoo worship style.
I personally am an African from Uganda and I know what syncopation can do to a person because I was a dancer to syncopated beats.
This UA-cam channel was a dancing channel but when Christ transformed me, I deleted all the dancing videos and am dedicating it for Christ's gospel.
I feel very sorry when you as a learned person from developed countries supporting something which could lead to rebellion against the Creator.
Don't forget Music has body language and that body language can mock the Jesus lyrics.
Syncopation is a powerful tool in body language as in making someone to dance to the rythm instead of thinking about glorifying God according to my personal experience.
Christ's agenda is self must decrease and Christ be seen.

Christian Berdahl's presentations has been a blessing to me and my christian friends and family. It cleared up many questions I had for years. I'm a black person by the way.

I have found truth in Christian Berdahl’s ministry. I have watched his 10 hour presentation which thoroughly points out his extensive research. There’s always going to be haters. Jesus was never the popular choice especially when making a stand for truth. You are entitled to your opinion, but any Christian relying on this man’s opinion, understand that there are also many non biblical principles he was displaying and promoting. Especially on the vain use of God’s name at the end of the video breaking the Ten Commandments repeatedly. Very sad. By their fruits you shall know them Matt 7:16. I pray you will be encouraged to do more research before you through your own stones.
Rhythmic syncopation or polyrhythms are evil according to European cultural preferences and is prohibited and imposed on all music genres as a biblical commandment; When in reality, it’s a European cultural opinion.
@@kwameoluwanyame7650 that’s not historically correct. Most tribal music regardless of geographical location is based on those rhythms.

Christian Berdahl sings songs on 3ABN that include syncopation. He either doesn't know what he's talking about, or he's intentionally misleading people. Either way...
