I love living out in the desert it’s so dry we don’t even need dehumidifiers in our safes. I have guns been sitting in a safe over 10 years and are still perfect. 👍🏼 I need to upgrade mine with a nerf gun I have a tub full of them in the garage lol… nice video man.
One overlooked benefit of desert living lol and yes you need to keep those nerf guns locked up
I live in Utah and have had 2 full gun safes for around 20 years. I put a decent dessicant pack in mine when they were brand new... The same packs are still there and have no signs of needing recharge any time soon..
Most of that stuff you have in there can be put in a separate locking cabinet, then you have room for more guns😊
@@davidtimmermann7226 that good sir is an excellent point. Thanks for the idea
Having a safe in the garage is not a good idea. Someone can just put a chain on it and pull it out or just load it into a truck if they gain access to your garage
Thanks for sharing your thoughts
I was thinking the same thing
Nice safe.
Thanks
I looked at the amazon light kit with the link you provided. However, the kit only has a manual on/off switch and I didn't see the "eye" that is shown in your video. Was that extra and do it make the lights turn on automatically when the door is opened?
TORCHSTAR LED Safe Lighting Kit, (6) 12 Inch Linkable Light Bars + Motion Sensor + UL Power Adapter, 900LM, Input 100-240V, for Under Cabinet Gun Safe Locker Closet Showcase, 5000K Daylight a.co/d/1TgklWU
Looks like I put the wrong light kit link in there - here is the correct one ….
Thanks for pointing that out and thanks for watching!
What extension did you buy to fit that small hole in the safe?
There’s a link in the description for it. It’s an outlet for safes
Great information. Have you thought about trying rifle rods?
Yes I definitely have but I just haven’t gotten around to it yet !! Do you recommend them ?
@@FrankChristopherOutdoors used them to help make over my grandpa's safe. We were able to get more guns in his safe and they are easy for him to use.
@@AmandaYeakel good deal I will get them one day to try them out. Thanks for sharing your experience
60% humidity is relatively high. To protect woods you want it no lower than 45% and no higher than 55%. That’s for protecting wood made instruments like guitars that NEED humidity. I’d think you’d want a gun safe to be dry… not 50% +. What’s the recommended humidity level?
You're right! NRA suggests 30-50% humidity.
I think I meant to say usually less than 50%. My safe is usually 48-49% . I had it open for a while when I was filming some videos.
Is the heater running all the time gonna Jack up the bill
Not really it’s worth it ! Thanks for watching
Worth it if it’s keeping your guns from rusting
@@dakota7016 definitely !
Bro you get that humidity to low your wood stocks gonna suffer
The humidity in my safe is usually like 50% or so which is on the high side actually
