I am not against Meitei brothers but Manipur Police are aggressive and made me feel like a foreigner entering Manipur during ILP application. Having been to Nagaland and Arunachal (both ILP states) their attitude was intolerable demanding random documents and numbers and got into an altercation with them.

Let me explain the context. See around at 1:00 min in the video, you will see 2 armoured trucks blocking the police station gate, and 1 on the road. Assam Rifles forcefully parked those to obstruct the Police from performing their duty. All while the neighbouring village was under heavy firing by Kuki militants. Those armoured cars were parked there so that the Police could not respond.
This is not the first instance this has happened though. Only its the first time its been caught on camera. This is the reason why a section of the people are demanding the withdrawal of the Assam Rifles.

Army in civil areas is meant to just act as a force like CRPF.
CRPF handles such situations better as compared to a force that has something to do with local matters.
Local Police works under political pressures but external force is meant to pursue peace keeping operations without any bias.
I respect Assam Rifles but I want to reiterate that something which makes external forces(mostly PAC from other district in case of district level violence, CRPF , Army) is that they have nothing to do with local matters nor they live there so they can work with a free hand.
But a force based not too far and has to deal with local militant groups frequently is no better than local Police.
(Difference in physical combat skills in such situation don't make much difference)
Conditions like this are not new. They happen from time to time. And they resolve it themselves.

Army in civil areas is meant to just act as a force like CRPF.
CRPF handles such situations better as compared to a force that has something to do with local matters.
Local Police works under political pressures but external force is meant to pursue peace keeping operations without any bias.
I respect Assam Rifles but I want to reiterate that something which makes external forces(mostly PAC from other district in case of district level violence, CRPF , Army) is that they have nothing to do with local matters nor they live there so they can work with a free hand.
But a force based not too far and has to deal with local militant groups frequently is no better than local Police.

For those who don’t know why the standoff took place.
The Manipur Police and commandos helped the rioters, Meiteis since day 1 in attacking Kuki villages, looting their houses and killing innocent people. They didn’t stop the mob or anything but in fact they were the ones in charge and drawing up plans and strategy. But then the AR got deployed in various parts of Manipur to act as guard incase of any further problems.
The AR knows the involvement of these commandos and Manipur Police and they don’t trust them so they were ordered not to come out of the police station and the AR were sent to stand guard in the gates to restrict their movements. But since these Police and commandos are the main force leading those mobs they were angry and started harassing those Assam Rifles…they were planning to launch attacks on sugnu areas but the mob needed the police to led the charge but since they cannot come out the frustrated police came up with such dramas.

Since these ARs restrict a lot of their movement and plans you will see many Meiteis in the News blaming the ARs for siding with the kukis. The truth is the AR warned that anyone attacking whether Kuki or Meiteis, they will be shot at sight. But so far these Meiteis ignored their warning and kept attacking the Kukis and when the ARs shot a few of them, they’re pulling up the victim card that Kukis and ARs are working together lol. They’re so good at acting and dramas.
You’ll see many Meiteis in the comment section coming to defend the police and blaming the AR for siding with the Kukis. AR parked their vehicles in the entrance of the police station and blocked the road unlawfully. They disregarded and disrespected the Manipur police when told to move their vehicles.
And I am aware tht the police personnel’s behaviour looks threatening and unprofessional but there is a good reason for it. They are frustrated and exhausted from defending the villages from militants attacking and burning down houses. And one of their personnel recently died during the attack. They were even more frustrated with the AR because they refused to provide any help.

This is really sad to see 🙈. When the Manipur Police acts brutally towards the armed Indian Army, I can't imagine how they're going to act to the unarmed civilians particularly the tribals people. The news about the Police supporting the Meeteis volunteers and radicals@Arambai Tenggol @Meetei Leepun in torching the Tribals houses instead of controlling the mobs were indeed proved by their actions today. Bhai let's try to understand what was happening, this was happened at Sugnu police station, the police station gate was blocked by AR vehicle during the time of militants burning the house of civilians instead of defending civilians if AR blocking the police station what will be your reaction if you were police. Most of places where AR was protecting civilian house were still burning after 20 days the reason they can't fight with SOO militans. And making interference like this blocking police, I hope this should never happen to your house.
