My husband left me for a younger woman that looked just like me. His third affair became his second marriage.
He took her to all the places we've been to and took pictures with her where I had my pictures taken. My whole 9 year history with this man erased by selfish lustful desires. I didn't exist anymore. He replaced me, our memories, with a counterfeit.
And he called her the same things he had once ascribed to me.
The "queen of his castle" his soulmate, his angel, the love of his life. His principessa.
    These were all my names.
    And now they are hers.
I only think of him when I hear music like this. It brings everything back.
But it all belongs in the past.
    Everything is the past.
If anyone is "shiny and new", it is you, Anoushka. You had to wash the dirt off and evolve out of your pain into a new woman.
I am now a new woman. Everything that was broken has mended but doesn't move and bend the same way. I move and bend in a different way. Like water. Water always makes a new path when the old path is sealed. The goal is to flow from one place and be in another place. Never be stuck in a place you don't belong.
Belong where you deserve to be.

      > My whole 9 year history with this man erased by selfish lustful desires
It doesn't have to be that way.
My wife also left me under similar conditions. I've many fond memories but I haven't erased them. I'm happy for her instead. Why would I stand in the way of her going after what she wants from her life? The only reason I can think is because I had my own selfish, lustful desires. I don't want to be selfish or lustful. Instead, I congratulate her on the courage she had to pursue what she wanted in her life. I love her very much, and I'd only ever want her to pursue what makes her happy, even if it comes at my expense. That is what true love is.

Does she feel younger than me
As you’re lying in your bed
Does she feel younger than me
Or is that in my head
Does she feel younger than me
    New and shiny
Does she feel younger than me
    But most importantly
Do you call her bright eyes too,
    Too, too, too
I know she’s younger than me
    As i’m in our bed
I know she’s younger than me
Can’t get it out of my head
I know she’s younger than me
    Less pain to carry
I know she’s younger than me
    Darling tell me
Do you call her bright eyes too,
    Too, too, too
Now are you haunted by me
    That age old marital trip
    What’s gotten old about me
    Serpent in my bed
Now this that your pain you see
    Replenished, strung ahead
I don’t know how to stay me
But repetition lies ahead for you
For you, for you, for you, for you So tell me,
Will you call her bright eyes too?

The Sitar is a singer. I love this honesty throughout the voice of the co-singer because for me the Sitar says more than the singer and the way Anoushka plays the Sitar is killing. Usually in this kind of subject (betrayal or cheating in couples) there's a lot of screaming and big/heavy instruments sometimes you have a simple piano-voice but not often. I like the way she expresses the feelings . Pain can be expressed through a pure silence and pure feelings.

  • @dunkim7527

"But repetition lies ahead for you"
Anoushka wrote that out of complete anger towards Joe Wright. His wedding with Rosamud Pike was called off. Joe cheated on Anoushka, then had girlfriends, left them then got married an actress.
This song is extremely personal to Anoushka Shankar and she beautifully expressed her sadness through this song

    Got this recommended today,..
Oh shitt I just liked it and saved it as the music was gradually building and I heard the words "Does she feel younger than me?''
It instantly made me feel for someone I've always been in love with ,who inturn was in a long relationship with someone else and that Someone betrayed her many times and left her heartbroken after 9 yrs..
,..so Today I feel for her again.

dear Anoushka, I can sense deep pain in this expression. Phenomenal artists like you find solace in music as this gift enables you to reach out to the divine in you. In deep acceptance, the expectations drop and life flows like a perennial river and the romance of it emerges. you truly deserve all the bliss. let your music be the purest bhava of freedom, love, compassion, Our world can do better with glorious musical expressions that emerges from you. I had watched your first performance with Ustad Zakir Hussain Ji. In those gleaming eyes, We all got to see hope, talent, gratitude, compassion, pure beauty. please inspire yourself and come back to your peak glory of expression.

Just to the people who are new to Indian classical, it's not complete classical it's a fusion of Indian classical + western.
I am so glad due to these powerful lyrics and Sitar playing by Anoushka people from all over the world getting to know about Indian culture. There are loads of instruments, music and ragas in Indian classical, they are all great and will take you to different world at the same time. 🙂

Enthralled...It hypnotizes all pieces of my mind...
Does she feel younger than me?
As you're lying in your bed
Does she feel younger than me?
Or is that in my head?
Does she feel younger than me?
    New and shiny
Does she feel younger than me?
    But most importantly
Do you call her bright eyes too?
    Too
    Too
    Too
I know she's younger than me
As I'm lying in our bed
I know she's younger than me
Can't get it out of my head
I know she's younger than me
    Less pain to carry
I know she's younger than me
    Darling tell me
Do you call her bright eyes too?
    Too
    Too
    Too
Now, are you haunted by me?
    That age-old marital…

    tears of happiness
    and sadnesss

    The harmony
    between
    angel - voice
    and
    crying sitar
    is
    unique
