Great lesson today. I’m actually watching again although I watched when it was first posted. I do want to comment on the watercolor. Complementary colors (opposites on the color wheel) look good when paired side by side (i.e., red and green, blue and orange, or purple and yellow. They’re great when you keep them discreet from each other but they make mud when they’re blended together. When you want to blend colors, it’s better to use colors within the group of primary colors - think blending blue into yellow and the awesome range of greens, while blending blue into red gives you fabulous purples. Think a rainbow. I’ve seen your colored tiles before so I’m sure you know that, but some watching that have never delved into “color theory” may not understand the basics of coloring, particularly with watercolor and other transparent mediums. Again, great lesson and I’m sharing it with a friend that is interested in learning Zentangle.
@@dreamsunltd I'm definitely not a watercolor teacher and I hope I didn't steer anyone in the wrong direction. I tried some more backgrounds last week and thought they looked odd for the same reasons you mention, but when I covered one of them in tangles, it was surprising how good it looked anyway. I'll show that tile when I make my next "Prompt" video (I posted it on IG and FB). Just yesterday I tried coloring more tiles, but this time I used a different part of the color wheel. I picked a color, then found and used the two colors on each side of it. I added more water so the results were soft and very pretty. I'm still practicing and now I have several colored tiles to use. I appreciate your comments. I'm still not great with color theory, but I'm having fun. I hope your friend enjoys Zentangle! Thank you again for your reply! 🥰❤
Thanks for always showing us something new so we will have a new tool in our zentangle toolbox. Barbara Duel Johnson seems to do a lot of flowy organic tangles. I have found a number of hers in the When Life Gives You Lemons Tangle All Around book. It has been years since I have done any watercolor so it was nice to get the paints back out. But after putting the watercolor on, it seems like I was pressing down on the pn nib too hard…so another nib worn down. Not sure if it was the paper that I was using (watercolor sketchbook from Moleskin) or that the watercolor made another layer that my pen had to overcome. Maybe it will work better on zentangle tiles or smoother watercolor paper.

Just search there for Barbara Duel Johnson. The Micron PN is usually a little stronger than the other pens, but I do find that some paper is more textured than others so it could have been that also.
