You can buy hinges that make the door overlap or not with your cabinet structure, there are three types. It's called like overlap, half overlap and something else.

What a brilliant transformation, no one would guess that this is an Ikea Pax, looks like an bespoke wardrobe. Love that you just DIY along the project following your vision.

Thanks so much for making this video. I am about to embark on this process in our bedroom but I also have a really old house and have been so torn about trying to cut our old baseboards. This definitely seems like a good compromise. I’m not sure how I, going to navigate our molding at the top yet but I might end up doing some similar up there too.

I really like to respect our old house when it comes to thinks like that… also in our kitchen reno I realized our baseboards are so old that there’s nothing similar. It would cost $1000 to get a millworker to make a template to make more 😅
For the top you could also just add crown moulding to it if it doesn’t reach the ceiling. That always looks nice!

Perfection as always! Forget the stencil you used to make the circles. . . You freehanded to colour them in! 🤯. I love the just go for it attitude as well! Something I definitely need to try more. 🙃

Hahah the first one I didn’t and then I started to become worries that I’d smudge the black everywhere if I kept pulling the stencil all over with me. Thank you ❤️

Those shelve holders you can push in by using a screwdriver and than gently hammer it in. Save your fingers :D

Looks great Emma, as usual. Love your videos. I am going to try this in on my bathroom vanity in the basement as a first try. You have given me the courage to try. Look forward to your next project.

Hi! I have some melamine built in closets that I'd love to redo similar to this, but I'm wondering, has the paint chipped or has it been on issue painting on something so smooth like those doors? Maybe I missed it, but did you use some sort of primer? Thanks!

No it hasn’t chipped! I used the red can of BIN zinsser

I love watching your videos, you are such an inspiration!!
After 2 IKEA Pax hacks I feel encouraged to try it myself.
And I also love your decor tips. I never used to check on H&M but now it has become an habit (I'm from Portugal, so the other stores you mention I can't find them here, unfortunately).
I look forward to the next video!
    Sending love from Portugal.

I would love to start a project like this, so I am trying to understand all steps :) could someone explain why you need the spacers in the back ?

    • @EmmaCourtneyHome
      @EmmaCourtneyHome  Рік тому

Because I didn’t want to remove the original baseboards in my house - my home is 130+ years old and who knows if I want to remove the wardrobe in the future. If I didn’t put the spacers behind, the wardrobe would be leaning/a gap at the top (when you push the wardrobe against the wall, since the baseboard at the bottom there would be a gap at the top). The spacers allowed me to anchor the wardrobe to the wall so it can’t move, tip etc. I hope that makes sense 😅 if I had a new home I’d just remove the baseboard all together, but I try to respect my old home 🥰

My experience, with the pigments Farrow and Ball uses it’s next to impossible to colour match. The colour you chose looks fabulous. Looking around for where I might use it 🤔

That’s good to know! Thank you so much. Love this colour, my runner up choice was Killarney by Benjamin Moore

Hi, can I ask please what colour you went with in the end after the French grey didn’t work? Thank you x
