I really feel bad for Wei throughout the game. He lost his family before the game and started seeing Winston and his gang as his new family, Peggy would have been a great sister figure to him, and Uncle Po a great father figure and mentor. It's sad and really sucks that they all die throughout the game and after losing Jackie he pretty much loses everything. It's' good that he avenges them all and get's to live a normal life in the city but I think he deserved better.
He might be the Asian version of Niko Bellic, I think.

The story was so dope, and I like how it’s more fighting than guns like most games
True. Plus, their fighting mechanisms is really epic. I enjoyed fighting without guns in this game.
And some of the Hong Kong movie reference, like the Hospital mission which reminds me of "Hard Boiled", Zodiac Tournament which is inspired by Bruce Lee's iconic "Enter The Dragon". I truly love this game, one of my favourite games of all time.
Wei is the most durable character i ever played. He was seriously hurt, bleeding all over his body while being captured by mr tong. Then he go straight to lee's compound. Without going to a hospital or something. Survived a clear shotgun fire in the chest, crashed the boat. And someway, he still able to kill lee at the end. And that guy even asked " you okay?" In the real world wei would say
" What do you think sob? I got shot by a freaking shotgun right in the chest" LOL

In one night this undercover cop had been beaten up, cut up, had his foot slammed in with a hammer, had his leg drilled in and now took a shotgun blast to the torso followed by being in a fiery boating accident and yet he still managed to kill a faction of the Triad.
That’s some freaking dedication to a job and to the friends he’s lost!
... And what exercise & diet routine did he go through to be made of freaking iron?!

Very underrated game..... shame they didn't come up with the sequel..
I remember seeing so many of those badass trailers--- *(I think one had showed the bike from the game in real life with the liveries and everything lol that was sick.)* ---for the game around 2011 or so, I'm surprised that level of marketing didn't get a bigger amount of people buying the game. Then again, when I saw the trailers I was like "Eugh that game probably sucks and is more than likely a copy cat off of GTA like what Saints row seemed to have been trying to do at first." Maybe that's what a majority of others also thought.
Finally, years later... I've bought it and I just finished it a few hours ago, DAAAAAAAAAMN IT WAS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD! It was like a movie! No other game like it! The story was great, the characters all had meaning, the story was at a minimum a 8/10. One thing that stood out too to me was the way they did the camera angles during cut-scenes , they looked so cinematic and smooth and towards the end of the game, the missions starting getting more wild and more realistic-looking IMO. So bad-ass... It NEEDS a sequel. I hope that movie of SD makes a sequel pop out a couple of years later.

This game is gorgeous with car + rain.
I know right, I just got done playing it and at 4K res, the most "beautiful" looking mission *(especially during the cut-scenes!)* to me was that one near the end where Wei is getting tortured in that high rise building, the lighting, the rain on the window, the way the weather was outside with the thunder lighting up the clouds as the torrential rain almost looked like you could feel it actually hitting you as those pieces of blue tarp waved around violently.... So beautiful. I think I'd take a SD sequel over a new GTA first and I thought I loved GTA.
That's with a lotta games, I'd say.

I’ve had completed the WHOLE campaign of Sleeping Dogs.
I been doing a lot missions and everything, even the most powerful dangerous criminal organization in the world is like a journey.
For once, Sun On Yee would never end, it’s just about loyalty, discretion and honor.
This game is just awesome and underrated for real. With everyone Wei cares about dead, he took down every Triad that got in his way and going out for blood.
I like about Wei Shen as an main protagonist. The moment that he lost his loved ones… Had a relationship with Jackie, Winston and Uncle Po.
It’s just definitely sad that Wei been through: Winston and Peggy were murdered at their own wedding, losing Jackie. It’s just so very emotional, hurtful, depressed and sad. Even Uncle Po died as well…
I’m just glad that Wei avenged everyone and killed Big Smile Lee for good… That gets to live a normal life.
I’m saying that the campaign of Sleeping Dogs is just fire tho. IT’S JUST AWSOME. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 What a total masterpiece of this game. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

this is a game where i played the story 3-4 times, played every DLC, completed everything... yep, ive always been a true crime fan fro mthe start and this game delivered. definitely my fave open world game, even more than GTA5
This game and the Yakuza series dominates GTA.
The punishment for betraying the Triads is death by a thousand cuts, and Big Smile Lee, a man who was completely disdainful of tradition and triad rules, was thrown to an ice chipper, basically, being killed by a death with a thousand cuts. Remember when Pockmark Cheuk said: "When you betray your brothers, you die a thousand times in the darkness."? That's what happens to Big Smile Lee.
And despite being ousted as a cop, Broken Nose Jiang leaves Wei alone, because she is wise enough to let the sleeping dogs lie.

Jiang actually accepts Wei as both a red pole in the Sun On Yee gang and as a cop, as she says that Wei has a purpose.

This climax is one of the points where Sleeping Dogs beat GTA 5. No BS, no over complicated plot, just a dynamic chase, fight, "fuck you" and ice chipper. Much more satisfaction than ending of GTA 5.

Man the rain in this game is so beautiful. Wish they are working on a 2nd one.
The closest they devs got to making a sequel was presenting design documents as a pitch, which would have had us playing Wei Shen or a new character, solving and stopping crimes with branching paths.
Sleeping dogs is a masterpiece, true movie caliber story. I hope they do right by the film adaption, it’s too good to have a crappy movie.

But at least Wei has finished off Lee & put Pendrew behind bars
Most great games don't have good story and good ending but this one had both, super underrated

Big smile lee is the easiest boss in the game as all you need to do is counter his attacks
He isn't a boss, he's just a antagonist. Killing him is hard because he is heavily protected, but he is almost as easy as a regular enemy when alone.

The ending was lackluster. He should've become a triad for good or we should've at least gotten the option
You can feel for way. Even though he is a cop, that didn't mean he didn't care about Winston, jackie, and everybody else in the Gang. Guess that's what makes the story as good as it is.

Sleeping Dogs have many character as important role but Charles Ho is also important role for Wei Shen and Triads as he is key role for Wei Shen's balanced loyalty of Triad and Police and Sun On Yee's loyalty involvement with Hong Kong Police.
Completed the game today I will definitely say it is far better than gta in gameplay, fight action, story,hopefully there will be a sequel.. I like characters like wei, Jacky, Winston, Conroy, sunny, ricky, uncle po.. And whole sun on yee members.. 5-5-21
