Hi Robbie Duffy, it is personal preference and I agree it would be less restrictive but I always put my pads on last and now think it is more based on superstition. Thanks for your comment though as great to get others views 👍
Tips: It's always hot in season I mean especially where I live and as goalies we overheat faster, so get ICE. WATER. and a bigger bottle helps as its hotter in gear. Sit while putting shoes on and put them on before chest cover. Wear long socks where your knee bends is perfect to prevent painful chafing from straps.
Hi Clare I have also started putting my leg guards on before the body armour. I did this in the first game last season and we then won most games so I stuck with it, thanks for commenting
While you can do what you wish, is it not easier on anyone if they put the lower gear on first? Also, are the gloves for those times that you want an extra grip on your stick hand? Some ice hockey goalies will use thin sports gloves to help to keep sweat off of their playing gloves. Lastly, an abdo guard that is hard like steel is your best friend as most cups are plastic and we know plastic can crack. Even with the padded cups, I know of some who double cup depending on sport. All depends on your personal risk so act accordingly.
Hi Don Crocker Love the commenst, thanks for taking the time to leave them. True, much easier if the lower gear is put on 1st. I use a pair of wicket keeper inners to give me extra grip on the stick and in the left hand glove. It also helps keep my hands warmer during the wet and cold months. I took a blow to the umentionables wearing a plastic box a few weeks ago, the pain was incredible and took days to wear off. At least I had some protection. I would suggest the padded guard to be used in addition to the plastic box.
Hi Phantmninja 101Thanks for your comment. I do find it easy to put the elbow pads on with this brand. The previous version I had wasn't as easy though.
Hi, my 10 yr old son first tried as keeper this weekend. We watched your vid. Very useful, thanks. He loved it and as his Dad, I loved the opportunity to smash some hard plastic balls at him 😆
That's brilliant, it is the best position on the field. If he enjoys it, he will hopefully show no fear when the balls used are harder. I have moved into coaching the ladies at our club and I would stress the need to work on kicking technique with both feet, from an early age.
I hope this video was helpful to new and old goalkeepers, if so please leave a comment or give the thumbs up
I’ve just volunteered to be a goalie at school in the upcoming sessions. I’m a bit nervous now 😂
Hi Fingram Good luck. It is the best position on a hockey pitch and gives you an excuse to be slightly eccentric in later life.
Its really fun i play as goalkeeper
Same thing happened to me and it was fine. You will do great 😊
I’d recommend putting the leg guards on before the chest plate so ur movement isn’t restricted from the chest guard

Consider a throat guard. I use a boxing water bottle with a big tube. On hot matches I take it out with me with PC masks for a quick sip at PCs
Great tip!
Useful
It's way too hot when I put the goalie gear, just make sure to stay hydrated and maybe a ice cold water drop on head if things start getting worse.
Thank 🧘♂️
I hate how with his kit and my kit that the vest is not a single piece. I always struggle to put the elbow pads on!

Sportsballshop thx so much.
@@SportsBallStu What brand is your chest setup?
I'm considering wearing one of these in ice hockey. I absolutely hate how bulky they are these days.
@@LenWhalenX I think Obo
I need goal keeping kit
I need to update mine but it is so expensive so feel your pain
