Always loved case tractors. I just bought a 1977 1070 myself. It's nice to see these old powerhouse tractors still being used today and getting the job done.
By far the most impressive thing in this video is the farmers straight passes!! I had to drive for 3 hours the other day and I was glad I was a long way from a road because my line was horrible.
I hear you. I harrowed a field a few springs ago that had been in soybeans the year before and was covered in grass. The field was going to corn and I was harrowing it to knock out the rough surface left by NH3 application. I could not see where the 50ft drag harrow had been. By the time I was finished I was making a big arch across the field rather than going back and forth. I operated a Case 2670 on big wide single tyres ,it was a brand new tractor ,I put over eight thousand hrs on it over a period of time , it had good comfort and reliability with no problems pulling heavy loads constantly in heavy black soil in the middle of summer never overheating with the solid frame and four wheel steer I believe this was one really good tractor made by Case ,it's a pity you couldn't buy the same tractor today . Great tractor
I used a 1470TK. Under load, the turbocharger really sang on the 504 diesel. Tight steering was great after you got the hang of it. I’ve seen one online that someone rebuilt. It’s a beauty!
When I was a kid we had a brand new Case 2470. Seemed really big at the time but not compared to today's stuff. We had 1600 acres back in the '70-80s. I was about 10 years old when I started running it
Very cool. What implements did you your 2470? The 2470 inspired my interest in tractors and 4wds. My neighbor bought a 2470 and a 7 bottom Case 700 plow new in 1977. It was the first tractor I ever got to ride in.
When I was young I looked at a 2470 & almost bought it then looked at an open station 1370 & almost bought it & then ran into a nice cab 1486 which I still have & use on bagger & manure spreader sometimes in winter when I don’t want to hog up my nicer tractors. That 1370 sure did shift nice but I was warned about their tranny by my neighbors & I got scared of them. Ended up buying one of the first big square balers around & wish I had that 2470 on the hills but then I heard they had brake issues. Great video!

The first tractor I ever got to ride in was a Case 2470 when I just a few years old. My neighbor bought a 2470 new in 1977 with a 7 bottom Case 700 plow. They used the 2470 all the way through 2003. Today their big tractor is a Case IH 370 Steiger.

Had 2 in my county here in Virginia. Dad worked for a man that bought one of them new. It was a good tractor but it needed duals and it never had them so it would power hop pulling the big discs but that wasn't the tractors fault. Thanks for sharing the video.
It’s a neat part of Case IH history. Surprisingly there are several of these repaints out there if you. IH, Case and Steiger tractors were all included. Thank you for watching.
I think the stories have gotten mixed up over time. When the merger happened, the existing inventory of white hood/black belly Case 94 and 96 series had the white changed to red and the decals changed to CASE International. This work was all completed in Racine.

Good rugged tractor! Had a 2670 and a 4694. Sure wish you could buy something simple and tough like this brand new, not the overpriced laden down with useless tech stuff we have today.
Got a 2670 kicking around my farm. Doesn't do any work since we more bought it as part of a deal when helping a farmer retire and its in dire need of a cab kit and really a bunch of stuff, still though it pulls way harder than any 250 hp I've seen. Thing hadn't run in 15 years when we went to get it, but with a new battery it started up without missing a beat. The crab steering was certainly... interesting, but it just wasn't as reliable as fully articulated tractors. Had a 4494 and the steering was just a nightmare, like fullspeed on the road and then it'd go crab mode... though the 2670 has the cable steering so maybe that's more reliable (or less), powershift was a big problem on basically all those machines too.
I understand that the models 1370-2470 and now this 2670 have the same 8.3l 504 engine but they have different horsepower, what changes were there to increase the horsepower?

No, Steiger took the easier and cheaper way out. They brought out a main frame tractor but then went with the articulated . I will put a Claas up against ANY articulated tractor of comparable horsepower. Articulated tractors simply cannot provide the built in working weight transfer that a main frame does!
Very cool. The 870 and 770s are fairly rare because they were introduced in 1969 and replaced by the David Brown 1210 and 1410 in 1972. A Case IH 870 repaint I would say is a unique part of tractor history.
