You are both right with Dripping you can do roast potatoes in Dripping and there is nothing like beef dripping on toast but it should be the dripping from a large beef joint and then when it sets then you should have it on fresh bread or toast and you want to get some of the jelly from the bottom of the dripping then spread it on fresh bread the put plenty of salt on it. It’s not that many years ago when London pubs served dripping on door stops of fresh bread it was about £1 per slice

I could be wrong but expect they were able to open a cinema in Campbeltown before Edinburgh or Glasgow because of how affluent a place it was due to the whisky boom at the end of the Victorian era coinciding with the dawn of cinema. It all went to pot in Campbeltown as world war 1 hit and the Johnnie Walkers of the world started sourcing whiskies from Speyside as they were less remote and cheaper to produce. 30+ distilleries quickly became 2 (Springbank and Glen Scotia,) who toughed it out for 80 years until Glengyle was reopened in 2004. Rough history.

When you cook a joint of beef you get the fat from the meat and also the juices....if you let it set it settles with the juices setting in jelly form and the fat sits on top. You would spread that (set meat jelly and fat) on your bread. The beef dripping sold in the butchers is just the fat without the meat jelly. It's perfect for roasting potatoes...similar to goose fat.

Bread & dripping, now there's nostalgia lol. Not had that in years. We also used to like bacon dip butties when we were kids. Lovely photography at the beginning of ya video. 😉👍
