Beat it solo on a tele
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- Recorded on Aug 3rd 2022. One afternoon, I was nostalgic about MJ and Eddie so I decided to revisit the Beat It solo on the Telecaster. Why the tele? Because it was just sitting there in the corner and I was too lazy-a$$ to pull my Ibanez RG (with trem) from storage.
Update 2: When it's around 35 Celsius (or 95 Fahrenheit), I sometimes wear shorts. I think I'm not the only one. Feel free to comment on the musical aspect of the video. Thx.
Update 1: It's been pointed out I may bear a resemblance to the vsauce character guy. I assure you, I'm NOT him so no need to comment on that.
Gear: The guitar is a Fender Player Plus Nashville Telecaster. My model is a few years old so I don't have the push-pull switch on the tone control. However, the rest is just as described on the Fender website. It was plugged in a Boss gt-100 board. I use very simple effects: normal disto at about 70% gain, slight delay, slight reverb. Nothing fancy otherwise the tone becomes garbage. I think there was also a 2db boost at 1k freq to cut through the mix. The amp is a small 10w Yamaha thr10x (green) on full clean. This was recorded with my iPhone sitting straight on the amp.
Didn't even finish the song because he had to go out and mow the lawn. My hero.
Hahaha!! Facts!
This is what every dad thinks he looks/sounds like when he picks up a guitar. This guy is literally representing the dream of tens of thousands of fathers across the world. 🤘
As a guitar-playing dad, I can confirm this is 100% true.
I think this is what’s known as DAD-GAT 😌
You’re welcome 😇
Very few of us can nail the beat it solo
Every Dad needs to be Home Alone once in awhile. That’s when greatness occurs.
Your right but don't forget most proper rock stars are Dads and some are much older than this guy.
When I saw the shorts and the slightly high up guitar I immediately knew this was going to be the sickest solo possible.
Bro ripped it up like a God, stopped recording, and headed straight for the garden centre. So much respect.
Your right. This guys knows how to pick some flowers for sure
Awesome comment ! 👏🏻
😂
No
This comment wins the internet
Didn’t know V Sauce plays guitar, you learn something new everyday.
omg
Damn he's so right 😂😂😂
exactly what i thought right when i saw the thumbnail so i checked the comments to find someone who noticed tha lol
That's exactly what I thought 😂😂
You learn something new every day......or do you?
This was an example of how the sound is in the players fingers well done.
The TECHNIQUE is in the fingers - the sound is in the PICKUPS!
Roflmao
Love the emotion! That one has some fire in it.
Well said, no frills just skill lol
Also a great example of how you can pretty much do anything on a Tele!!!😀😀
Wow, thank you guys for all your comments. I never thought so many people would see this, let alone like and comment it. It's really appreciated. Read the description for details and updates. Take care!
I even had to let the wife hear it. You look a lot like my middle daughters fiance, glasses and all.
He's a bit smaller with light brown hair though.
The eyebrow raise at the end was priceless. 😎
Cool.good job !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
People enjoy watching someone having a good time, and you obviously had a blast playing this solo. Keep having fun and jamming out my man
Post more of this goodness man. You obviously crush on the guitar.
Get ready for more views cuz I just shared this with everyone!
You didn’t even need a Whammy bar that’s actually sick
Yeah, well in my early days, I could not afford a guitar with a whammy so I had make do. So that is how I learned it 20 years ago. Plus it has this nice little twang tele sound that is kinda growing on me... Thanks for the comment! ;)
@@zulumika1 I might try to learn it with no whammy bar cuz it does sound awesome
@@zulumika1 As soon as I saw the guitar, I thought, "how's he gonna play Beat It with no whammy?!"
You sure answered! 🤩
Dude that’s just sick. Millions of us all around the world must salute you.
“You can’t play that kind of music on a Tele”
“Plays it on a Tele”
Love that look at the end. You killed it!!
Heard that pinch harmonic at 00:07 and I knew it was gona be good.
Three reasons I like it:
a) it's not note per note (it could be good, but boring)
b) You kept a good timing during tapping (I heard some guitarists who were a little "late")
c) You showed one more time how versatile a Tele can be 🙂
It sucks as a whole but some parts were good on their own
@DRJTUBECHANNEL Link to yours please😮
@@DRJTUBECHANNELyou have no idea what you’re talking about, this was awesome
@@ZL1LoVeR ok
You can do anything on a Tele. I bought one off a guy at work for a steal he needed the money. I never wanted one but I couldn't pass up the deal. Anyways I haven't played my Jackson, Charvel, Kramer or my Les Paul since. I can't put it down.
I love your tone and your variation, but most of all I love your passionate feel - you’ve either got it or you haven’t, and you’ve got it in spades. Rock on
That tone man sheesh
Awesome. Didn't just mechanically copy the solo but played it artistically with feel and soul.
Bro ripped the living shit out of this, emptied the dishwasher and still ready for story time. Pro skills.
Dad burning down the house when left alone with his rig…😂 love it❤ respect 🎉
Almost ran out of fretboard there!
Absolutely nailed a whammy-less version!
This is some of the cleanest playing I’ve seen in a while
Awesome 🔥
Holaaa, ¿Que haces aquí slayer?😮
el verdadero conocedor de buena musica:
The eyebrow raise at the end of the solo is what makes it
this is the type of video that just makes you laugh because of how good it is and how happy it makes you
I didn’t expect to like this when I saw the thumbnail in my feed but decided to click … because who would be crazy enough to attempt this iconic solo on a tele??! You crushed it dude! So much joy in your playing … I have a feeling EVH himself would’ve approved. Bravo 👏👏👏
And without a whammy bar!
There's no other word to say rather than incredible.
Your pinch harmonics are sounding superb 👌🏽
Amazing tone. That sounded pretty damn splendid. For any non-guitarists what he just did on that particular guitar can only be described as witchcraft.
Because he did it on a tele? Explain please.
Superb witchcraft
Cringe
Nonsense.
@theroundhousekingofthemidw1705 yes, tele has no whammy bar and single coils. Solo is normally played with a Floyd rose and humbucker
This dads been editing all morning for the baby to take his nap before his wife gets back home to rip this solo 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 killed it brotha!!!
He looks old to be a first time father if you suggest that.
I see so many ppl on youtube just shredding their scales without feeling or relation to any chords. Because of this i rarely like the guitar solos. But yours must be one of the best ive ever seen. Technique, feels, passion, relation to the melody... just perfect! Keep rockin 🎉
As soon as I heard that tone on the rhythm part I knew this was gonna rip 🔥 Great job man!
It was that first pinch harmonic for me. Instant upvote and sat back knowing this was going to slay.
@@yacobz Same!
Just appreciating the fact he did it without a whammy plus my man was standing all the while🎸🎸
I am 23, and due to certain responsilbities unable to pursue this passion. Regardless, I dream of being this age and having same passion and talent. Thank you for posting this, brings a smile on my face everytime i watch this.
How in the hell? How you did that without a whammy bar is beyond me. Seriously impressive.
Why? You don’t need a whammy for any of this lol.
@@Drtydeeds There is alot of wammy on the partition. I agree that you dont need one but I seriously doubt that you would sound nearly as good as this guy doing it.
He used slides in parts of whammy bar
Do know banndings?
@@Drtydeedsyou’re such a nerd seriously
Smashed it. Surprisingly accurate tone from a telecaster - one of my axes of choice 🪓 🎸
There is a lot of personality and feel in your playing. I really like your version! Awesome job rock on
That last pull at 22 was amazing
I think I have watched this 20x back to back.
One of my favourite interpretations of the beat it solo. Been binge watching lots of versions of this and it’s by far the best. Definitely put a lot of soul back into it :)
Damn my brother! Doing this solo without the lever made Eddie Van Hallen turn over in his grave with such perfection! Congratulations! September 20, 2023, Ibicaraí Bahia Brazil!
Just a friendly heads up; what your comment actually means is his playing would disgust Eddie Van Halen, which Im pretty sure wasn’t your intention.
If something makes someone “turn over in their grave”, it means they would dislike it, at least in the US. Maybe it’s different in Brazil, though.
Blown away - the technique, the tone, the feel, pseudo-whammy bar acrobatics…Wow 💥 🎸
Never judge a book by it's cover. For some reason though I knew you were gonna kill it. Well done sir.
The soccer dad she told you not to worry about.
What the actual f.... you nailed it, the tone, the spot on intonation... wow
The fun you’re having … nailed it!
Guitar Hero Dad for the win! This is outstanding! 👏👏👏
Legend has it that Mika here started learning the solo when he was twelve. 25 years later and we've just witnessed someone reach inner peace
Wow, you really nailed the most hard to play guitar solo on a guitar that doesn't even have whammy bar? Amazing
I'm sold. You did a great job. The tone is out of this world, too.
Absolutely insane. Wouldn’t even be able to tell that wasn’t the original if my eyes were closed.
This man has been waiting and practicing his whole life just to give us this wonderful video. Amazing job brother!
Goes to show you ,Never judge a book by its cover … you fucking killed it great playing dude
Bloody brilliant mate! Beautiful solo, and without a whammy bar? I’ll be damned. Never stop playing you absolute legend!
So sick!! Really love the way you made it your own, whilst still keeping it unmistakably Eddie, AND all that with a fixed bridge! Killer!
A proper live solo. Fantastic.
Well done man. I think it's safe to say that people will look to this video as an example of how to play the solo. Incredible job!
Wowser, when you started off I was thinking, "yeah, I could learn to play that" then all sorts of Van Halen craziness went down and I changed my mind. Will done sir, loved it!
That was really good! You nailed the high energy of Eddie and that awesome tele tone, together! Well done.
popped up on my recommended...you slayed that sh*t man! well done
Most of the fun I get from playing this song on drums is getting to that solo section. It's such a time capsule piece
I didn't know I needed to see some dad absolutely shred it but here we are!
This is the coolest Panera Bread manager.... EVER!
Man that Tone is on point! I don't think I've heard a version where the tone is this close to the original... Both in the low end and the high end, great job!
Dude!! When you come out of the solo, back into the main riff.... So fecking clean....seamless!!
I went to your channel and you didn’t seem like you wanted to pursue the UA-cam thing for guitar’s but I’d encourage it. I think I speak for all of us when I say we need more of your content. You completely nailed it. This was so satisfying to watch.
I think you finally ran all the kids off your lawn with that blistering ending note and rocket slide.
the dance after the solo made my day
raw, organic and just pure jamming vibes! None of this overly compressed forced, chopped and edited pre planned videos!
I loved this
You killed that. That was awesome.
Okay, anyone who can even get close to playing this solo well gets a solemn head nod from me. That was the nuts. Damn, brother!
0:35 😮 I’ve been wondering for years! GENIUS
Aww man. Dude didn’t even explode at the end of that awesome solo…
Such a good version. And you performed it so clean, hands down
Great tone! I love your energy and presence, it flows and you can hear it through your music.
Bru that phraising!! Phenomenal playing.
Whoever first said “You can play anything on a Tele,” wasn’t kidding!!!
Sick bro! You just whipped me back to my 1986 skating parties in Boise Idaho! Skateland for-EVER!!🛼🛼🎽😝🤘
É uma das melhores versões que já vi , pelo fato de não ter lavanquinha
Mas os harmônicos soaram lindamente, diria até que foi uma versão mais refinada
Parabéns!
Strangled the shit out of that thing. AMAZING.
Wow... This is super amazing... Speechless😮
From one guitar dad to another: if I see you playing this (like this) on a tele, I’m buying you a beer.
Goes to show when they say that the tine is in your fingers. That was amazing.
Damn man! This was inspiring!!! Grabbing my guitar now! Thanks for sharing!
That. Sounded. Fanstastic!!
You even recreated the door knock, with perfect timing! This was very beautiful! You weren't playing it note for note, but you got the soul of it down to a t.
Blew my expectations out of the water.
GAD DAM! Hats of that’s a really good display on the Tele mics and how to use it to re-imagining the solo and some rift. Keep rocking pops!!!!🫡🫡🫡🫡
Bro way to go, just killed it yeah 😅🤘
Hell yeah man! That was clean, the tone was spot on, and the way you came up with variations on those whammy bar parts sounded great.
Killer technique and tone!!!❤❤
That tele bridge pickup just sounding killer through whatever else you're using. Such a versatile guitar.
Eddie would've had the biggest smile seeing this.
Phenomenal timing and phrasing🤘🏻🎸
I have to admit that your performance was better than I was expecting. 👍👍🎸
I am getting envy! 😂 you got both technics and spirit, it looks and sound astonishing! Love your play so much!
LOVE THE CONCENTRATION ON THE FACE!!!
As a Tele player myself dude I’m seriously impressed that sounded the bizz 🔥🎸🎸🎸🎸
You nailed the out-of-shape-dad look for being a true guitar rockstar hero!❤
Dudes not out of shape
And even if he were - which he isn't - why would that even be important to say? It's mean-spirited for no reason.
Great job, dude! I love the way you're feeling it and having fun while you play!
You killed it! Great tone and articulation. More fun than Mozart
These specific Nashville Teles are killer! The pickups in them can indeed cover that EVH Brown sound.
Well, I tried learning that solo on a Tele years ago and concluded it was impossible. Clearly I was wrong. That was bang-on
Superb dude , absolutely nailed the tone and the playing was the business
The AK-47 of guitars.
