- I replace a front wheel bearing on a 2011 Toyota Sienna. This procedure should be the same for at least 2011 to 2019 and maybe more.

If you turn the press plates vertically you can use a bearing splitter to press off the inner race. Usually they aren’t on tight enough to bend the splitter
Good work and good ideas, thanks for sharing
Thanks for the tutorial !
Today I was able to do it on 2004 year model.
Few pro tips, next time, you should use a slide hammer to remove the hub after removing the spindle nut while the knuckle is still in the vehicle and bolted to everything else. It would have saved you a lot of time. Also, you should invest in a bearing removing kit because it comes with a bunch of adaptors you can also use at the press to press in and out the bearings. Overall it was a good step by step video, keep up the good work
I have used slide hammers to remove hubs in the past but currently do not have one so that isn't an option. I have wanted to get a a bearing remover kit but I don't do enough to justify the cost.
HB: When a front bearing is going bad will the whining noise be obviously LEFT or RIGHT while driving? The sound I'm getting appears to be coming from Both L/F and R/F - and is like I've got snow tires on... Please Advise.
@@737mechanic Since you already have a press, I can understand why you feel the cost of a kit is not justified. Well, I didn't have a press nor the room to spare for one, so I purchased an OTC 6575 Hub Grappler kit. Along with a Milwaukee 2767 1/2"-drive High Torque Wrench, it is the perfect combination for the job--as long as one keeps the moving parts of the kit lubricated with Permatex (81590) Engine Assembly Lube. For anyone deciding to go the kit route, cinch up the kit adapters by hand and with hand tools first, not an impact wrench. It is imperative that one gets the alignment just right are one can easily mar an adapter or bend the forcing screw. That stated, any bends in the forcing screw will be eliminated the next time one presses out a bearing. Trust me; I know from experience. Also, I found adapter 314310, the forcing screw, and a couple of 3/4"-16 nuts great for tapping in the driver-side CV axle seal, making quick work of an otherwise difficult job, the one job that still gives me nightmares ;)
Freeze the new bearing for a few hours and it goes in easy
I have the same symptoms. No play but noise starts at 35 mph. I will replace both sides which is always recommended in replacing wheel bearing.
Excelente video
Thanks so much. Very informative and much appreciated.
What about buying the whole assembly ? Would, the savings in time justify the higher expense of buying the knuckle?
I’m replacing a bearing that was just replaced by Precision Tune. Less than 20,000 miles. When I pulled the knuckle, I noticed that cap/cover at 12:29 was missing and it was pretty grimy.
As I understand, failure to properly torque the drive axle nut to specification can result in premature failure of a wheel bearing. Bottom line, counting ugga-duggas does not get it.
Great detailed video of the process. Please tell me what size of socket you used to knock loose the hub?
I used a 1-3/16 12 point socket. It is actually a 31mm but my 31mm is a 6 point and the nut is 12 point and the 1-3/16 was close enough to get it done.
Can I apply 2003 Toyota Sienna USA back wheel bearing to 2000 model plz sir tall me.
What happens if you knick the hub?
You could weaken it and cause a crack.
Thank you good explanation
you should have some paints tape. you could have taped the nut to the socket. seen it done a hundreds in construction. all professions do it.
It is possible to replace the whole hub, like on rear?
Yes.
Who makes those snap ring pliers?
Hi-tech model 65. Napa used to sell them and I think they are made by wright tools.
@@737mechanic Thanks!
Why you need to change the bearing?
It was growling.
Thanks you! Are you an A&P?
Yes
instead of removing the steering knuckle, why don't you try the forced screw method. no need for an alignment.
You can do that if you have the tooling. I don't. Very seldom do I replace wheel bearings.
Did you get a TSR from Toyota to do this? Also I didn't see any inspector buy off your work. Hope it wasn't RII. LOL
I tried to get an inspector but they were all either sleeping or in the middle of a movie so it is all good.
@@737mechanic Lol! So true. What station u in?

@@737mechanic same here.
24:11 is visible that you cut into the hub 24:54 you realize that
I didn't cut into it but it did touch the surface which made a mark that wasn't bad.
I bought a loaded knuckle from moog. $267 All new knuckle, bearing, hub. I don’t trust anybody else working on my vehicle period !
Where did you buy this kit
Neal H. Where did you buy this kit?
@@CryptoJourneyKs I just bought one from rockauto.com for $247 for my FWD, complete with hub!
Even though you purchased an entire knuckle assembly, torquing and staking the drive axle nut to spec is probably the most critical task in the procedure, a task that is often overlooked. When I replaced the CV axle on my sister's 2005 Toyota Sienna XLE (FWD), I noted that the drive axle nut was not staked, the wheel bearing retaining ring was missing, and a previous mechanic left a deep gash in the passenger-side hub, most likely attempting to remove the inner race from the last wheel bearing job. Yeah, she was okay with hiring meth mechanics.
@@armchairtin-kicker503 Thank you for the advice. Luckily I haven’t had any issues with the assembly. I did stake the nut but only tightened the axel nut until I felt sufficient resistance and then backed off the nut only until the wheel turned freely. No issues.
At around 2 minutes I stopped watching not enough lighting, I have seen better tutorial.
Thanks for watching the first two min. :)

I have read much better youtube commenters as well
