Outstanding stretch of the Don. The peg opposite the flats, by the cricket ground, is just magic. A river that is so overlooked. A maggot feeder also works really well on this stretch
Great stuff lads! A great antidote to all those that whinge about you only fishing commercials too. The laughter from J and Andy is just showing the pure enjoyment to be had from fishing

Firstly my condolences Andy, I have been there myself, and so pleased that you found an outlet and a way forward. Secondly - thank you all for another massively entertaining year. So looking forward to 2023 and more mayhem.
Just got into river fishing this year and probably had the best time fishing in over 5 years with the same tactics, so what a perfect video to end the year on. Not a lot of local commercials down south where I am, so I just watch for the banter and occasional bit of sage advice. Told a mate about the channel, turns out he already watches, so got 2 signed copies of the book which turned up in time for Christmas. Cheers lads!

What a splendid video. One thing is that grayling are supposed to smell of thyme (their latin name is thymallus thymallus). Smelt are supposed to smell of cucumber, although all the hundreds I have used for pike baits have smelled of fish!! During world war 2 locals including my dad and grandad used to fish for smelts in the tidal River Nene, the bait used was lengths of wool which caught around the smelts teeth - a bit like eel babbing. Hope all the winning ways family have a great 2023.

Merry Christmas. Grew up fishing the pegs you were in, but gave it up because I got bored of catching trout. Glad you really enjoyed it. Funny the things you take for granted. Used to be some massive (12oz - 1lb) dace and some big perch and the bottom used to be solid with minnows but all the coarse fish disappeared after the 2007 floods. Real shame. Anyway, love the channel and all the best for the new year.

great vid guys... i lived in sheffield for 28 years before moving to lincolnshire... there are some fantastic fish in the don... if you head towards town or just passed the town towards darnall you get the big roach..
Got my book in time and looks fantastic, I’m a designer so I’d know and it was a great Xmas present for my dad. So thanks and thank you all three as it’s not been the best year here ether but these videos have kept me laughing and wanting to get out fishing every time I watch one! I lived in South Yorkshire from 1986 to 1990. In those years the River Don was like a toxic waste site. You would not be catching grayling or trout back then. It’s great to see how quickly a river can (relatively) recover.😮
