- The basics of screw and nut starters.
If you've ever struggled with getting a screw or a nut started in an awkward spot (like when building a computer or on some fussy spot in a car), these little things are what you're looking for. Especially useful when it's non-ferrous and a magnetic screwdriver isn't even an option (and even if it is - these are usually better!)

I picked up a Herbrand vintage slotted screw starter a year ago inside a nut and bolt organizer I bought at an estate sale and didn't even know it until today. What a brilliant tool!
Best overview i've seen on these little gadgets, thanks.
Thank you very much. I found this thing on the road and it has been lying at my house for 10-12 years. I didn't understand why this tool was needed. Now everything is clear!
Seriously great videos bub, this channel is gonna take off just keep it up.
Wow these are pretty great, I've never heard of anything like this
They're definitely the sort of thing that when you need one, you NEED one.
@@JustToolBasics the number of times I've hot glued small nuts onto popsicle sticks is embarrassing lol
That's what that damn tool s that's been floating around in my toolboxes for years
Thank you for the great video. Had no idea what this tool was.
Awesome video. I was using the starter wrong... Thank you so much for clarifying.
Wish there was a non-conductive handle/shank version of the step-holder for electrical applications. Feuerman has some that are pencil shaped. Round profile is better.
It's not perfect (and not for high voltage, certainly), but you could perhaps put some shrink tubing on the shank of one.
@@JustToolBasics, excellent idea!!!
Do you think the nutsetter version is as good holding Philips as the Philips specific holder?
but where do I purchase these with your amazon affiliate link?!
I wasn't able to get those done last night when I published, but the description is updated now - Thanks Fred!
where do you buy these?
There are a bunch of links in the description.
Next time set the focus to manual when you're using macro. Quite annoying that auto focus
TIL!
Glad I could help!
