If you want to work on your catch look to engage your lats sooner. As your arm comes over and enters the water stretch out then keep your elbow high as you start the pull then continue through pulling all the way to the end of your stroke. Good drills to work on this is to count how many strokes you do in a lap and look at reducing it as much as possible whilst still gliding through the water. I also like to limit kicks to one or two per stroke. Uses less energy in the distance events but you can still maintain a quick 100 m average If your technique is there.

Outstanding save on the branding conflict.

On the swim your left arm is a long way outside your elbow on the pull through. I would probably focus on that as well as consciously closing the gap between your arm/hip.

@@lachlanearnshaw how many calories? I'm a hybrid atlethe and the first time I started endurance training I ate the same amount of calories as before and felt absolutely fucked. Now I eat way more and account for the calories I burn during training and I feel way better

    Love following your journey!
Just a thought, do you think you might be overdoing the training? I feel like it's a theme like you mentioned that you're struggling to make progress in both swim and bike at the same time. Either way I'm impressed you can do this volume while holding a full time job!

Hmm maybe. The thing is that any time i increase the volume on swim bike or run I improve. Plus I just love training heaps. And part of me thinks that if I can increase my work capacity now that will set me up to make big improvements in the future. I’m trying to be very patient and think about things over the long term
