    That’s interesting. Jabber is one of my favorite releases and I love everything about him.
    I feel collectors are very spoiled and overly demanding these days. They want 100% cartoon accuracy all around, yet smooth, not-to-complex engineering. Articulation needs to be human-like and everything must be painted perfectly. Lastly, the figure must be affordable.
    Outrageous...

    Ah, another Fanstoys figure to mess around with for five minutes, realize how abysmal the transformation is, then put on the shelf and never touch again.
    Like Rouge. And Koot. And Hoodlum...

    "This would be a $250 toy from Takara" - I think you're bang on the money, it's like Takara's loss of Pokemon caused them to jack up their prices beyond what was reasonable and now 3rd party is producing toys that are as good or better for a fraction of the price. I'm skipping Hound because I think Fanstoys Willis is the better figure. There's a reason Hasbro shut down Zeta's Unicron - they just can't compete in the space they created.

    It is an old design, it was featured at a convention panel quite a few years back now. I believe it was at Vancouver but it seems the knowledge of this figure being shown has faded into obscurity. So I find it strange it appearing now with not that many changes done to it from what my memory has it.

      It falls into a certain category of debate regarding whether figures should be 100% true to their source OR true to their source purely by core design but only to the extent of taking parts that are generally perceived as "oddly proportioned" and making them "normal sized" or "normal looking."
      All it takes is a little bit of spice from the creators who could have changed the crotch piece, and thats probably why people are griping, though I'm with you on the point of toon accuracy. It's not an issue at all. Not sure why people are bothered by it.

  • @rafaelochoa9776

    Butt flap is correct out of the box. He had that look in cartoon and g1 toy. They made it flip up for some that don’t want that look I guess. Crotch while unsightly is also toon accurate.

    Hey Bobby, you used it in your poses, but didn’t mention it: the lovely ratcheted waist-swivel! (360 all the way round) And I am still wondering if the light-blue parts are really painted... Also, to me, when you have them head-on, side-by-side, the G1 toy in vehicle mode actually looks better!! Love the alt-mode though.

    The shoulder and the type writing hands are my only negative. I like the size with the rest of their bots. I wonder now if they are going to make a Wheelie or even a Ultra Magnus. So now what are we missing. A Sharkticon, alligator thing. Scourge is a given. Rodimus. But what I would really like for them to make is a set of Quintessons. All versions in the movie. Judges, Guards, that speaker guy with the arms and the thing that pulled down the level. Diecast and plastic with many interchangeable faces.maybe a light up gimmick.

  • @raziel4435
    @raziel4435 5 років тому +1

    For me there are 3 main factors to any transformer figure but particularly masterpiece style ones, Robot mode, alt mode/s and the transformation. Now in the vast majority of cases one of those is going to end up being sacrificed or difficult somewhat and personally I would much rather it be the transformation.
    If the bot and alt modes are good and it takes a difficult or frustrating transformation to get between them then so be it.

    Lol! Exhaust Ports, "I'll get the other one off camera". You didn't get the first one on camera homie! I'm just playin, love your vids!
    He looks great, hes sitting on my desk and I'm trying to decide if I want to attempt to transform him. It does not look fun so it may just not be worth the risk. There are many reports of breaking the light blue leg parts so I'm a bit apprehensive to try.
    As far as colors go, Dalinj (sorry if spelled wrong) has flat out said that they changed the color. That probably would have been fine if that had been communicated to the consumers prior to release but thats not the case. For my part, I think Jabber looks great but not as great as those promo pics.
    I guess I'm okay with the outcome but the path they chose to get there leaves a bit of a bait and switch aftertaste. I still have a half dozen FT bots on pre-order so I guess I'm a fool.

    How does anyone keep those side panels on Jabber from breaking? Usually Fanstoys is so good at making their transformers strong, but those side panels are so poorly attached. It is a major stress point with those complex hinges on a tiny post of plastic, it will inevitably break. I am selling my broken Jabber and holding on to the much stronger Unique Toys Buzzing.

  • @rjohnson80100
    @rjohnson80100 5 років тому +1

    I recommend just messing with him more and dont force the side panels. Play around with the arm position and pull the knees out some. it will give clearance to get the panels around the arms with hinge room to connect and then collapse. I've transformed mind 6 + times now without stress or breakage.
    And the color isn't dark blue it's "Blurrple"

    Possible SDS or 4Dummies topic: how do we feel about companies that sit on designs for years and years and then release a figure that’s not up to date with the current trends or standards? Should that affect the way we treat or review this figures? I know on one hand they’ve paid for the design and want a return on their investment, but on the other hand, if it’s not in line with your current bar you raised, maybe it’s not worth your reputation to release that old figure?

    My copy dropped over the weekend. It is definitely an older design as having looking at the original concepts and grey prototypes it hasn’t changed. The type writer hands/fingers are the same on Koot and Hoodlum which surprised me but again being an older design and with so much coming out in the near future they likely didn’t want to revisit and redesign the figure. It’s by no means their best but he looks great with the rest of the 86 movie crew especially if they are made up of FT figures. I’m hoping that in the near future they will release their version of Magnus. Great job with the transformation, better than Paik4life I’d say, it’s definitely easier going back into robot mode. Enjoy TFCon.

    I got mine from TheToyGuy as well. Great guy. I like the bot mode. I like the colors, but remember colors killed iGears minibots with their "Salmon" colored Gears. I would like to see a pic of what they showed up until release against what we got as I personally don't see the issue. The hinges on those alt mode parts that fill in the side are prone to breakage, so be cautious. I really don't remember when FT teased their MP Blurr, but I would agree with your opinion that this is an older design. I really, really, really, really, really, really hope they don't release a repaint in the colors that they originally announced or this will confirm what you speculated in your 4 Dummies episode. Good review, but yikes on the just force it statement.....

    My good sir. I have to say that after this review I went on to TFW and noticed that message board for Jabber went from talking about this figure to talking about YOU reviewing this figure. I have to say that Positive or Negative, you are making some waves in the fandom. To see the amount of disdain and anger that went into some of those comments, I have nothing else to say but BRAVO. I love you and your videos Bobby... but come on ... are we not gonna address the fact that FT decided to switch the colour without letting people know before he started to ship? I'm not sure if you misunderstood the problem people have or something, but you said that people are saying it doesn't look like the pictures and then go ahead and say that its because pictures do funny things to colours, but that isnt the point people are making dude :( People are complaining because they changed the blue colour( which was NOT metallic btw) that were shown in the promo pics to this metallic blurple. Not only did they change it to a colour that most people do not like as much as the blue in the promos (now its this weird purplish blue), they went from a flat colour to a metallic colour and on top of that they did both of these things WITHOUT letting the people who already bought it know, and by the time they said something these were already shipping out... sooo yeah, I am not sure if you've understood the issue people have here.

    Good review and breakdown of this 'burple' jibber jabber. Got him on Saturday, and overall he's a great figure, I agree not one of Fanstoys best and as you speculated, he may be from an older design (which I agree with). Maybe it's just me, but I do think they progressed somewhat with their engineering, especially with Motormaster (ok I know, he was Mr FoldMaster with the trucks trailer). Overall, jabber looks the part and as you said, he looks great on the shelf - just ashame about some frustrations in terms of the articulation and engineering. Looking forward to your comparison and hope you enjoy TF con.
