I live in Brussels infact i live 2 streets away from where magritte lived. His house is a Museum now and you can still visit it. The Street where he lived is filled with magrittes artwork. Im proud to be from the same neigborhood as him.
I have found the best way (for me) to view a Magritte work is by my gut reaction. The objects are metaphorical, and beyond reality. Concepts in a shroud of mystery to be explored not defined. I have always enjoyed his work. Thank you for this short documentary. It was well done. Next maybe Max Ernst.
I love it when artists leave interpretation up to the viewer. It is what it needs to be at any given moment for any emotion the audience may be feeling. Hello Kitty.
Magritte was is forever as a revealer who opens a door into marvel(s); there’s never been any day in my life that I did not think Master Magritte was a (personal) friend
The world is a physical representation of our collective minds. Magritte is reminding us that the world we perceive is constructed nominally and “the screen” of reality can be experienced without physicalist constraints.
This video brings back my first encounter with Golconde. It gave me a super unfamiliar feeling, indeed.😲☺ It looks like Magritte always used everyday objects, no more, for his paintings, and yet he always seems to have ended up defamiliarizing them all, while still making you feel like you are living in reality. Maybe that partly earned him recognition as a genius painter. 🤔
I don't think though that critical thinking is the "type" of thinking is Magritte used in his creative process. He rather used what is called Janusian thinking, which is a type of creative thinking, an ability to imagine two opposites or contradictory ideas existing simultaneously. Like for example bringing together day and night in one scene, like he did in his The Empire of Light series... In fact, surrealism is known to be contrary to reason and logic, to be intuitive and influenced by the unconscious and dreams, rather than the artists "thinking critically".... I know critical thinking is popular today, but I don't think it belongs here.

@@CuriousMuse I like various ones with a silhouette of a bird with blue sky and clouds inside, silhouettes of a man with a nature scene inside and the train coming out of a fireplace. The pipe I mentioned above is clever as well.
I never like it when people try to explain surrealist art. For me surrealism is similar to escapism. A world without mundane and absurd logics. It teaches us how to go beyond the boundaries of languages and explainations.
is this narrated by AI? tons of weird little pronunciation mistakes in here no human would make. cutting corners? not the first youtube doc channel i've noticed this from
@@CuriousMuse whoever's typing your comments presumeably has a voice and a microphone. if you have a bad narrating voice, find someone with a good voice. if no one on your team has a good voice hire someone from fiver or something. did u think no one would notice the AI?
Hands down my favorite surrealist and one of my favorite painters in any genre.

Great approach! Love how you seek to explore these concepts rather than define them. Thank you for watching this video! 😍

I love this artist, I visited the Magriite Museum in Brussels and did not want to leave!

TFW you realize the voice you're listening to is a artificial because it said "one of a king" instead of "one of a kind."

Great approach - we also believe that skills drive success ☺️
Interesting! Magritte can make you think. He is right that the painted pipe is not a real pipe.
Indeed. Are there any particular artworks by Magritte you like?

Magritte was a witty one.
They say he was a genius ☺️
@@CuriousMuse agree to that 🤩🤩🤩
His face reminds me of David Lynch, quite amusingly
Another very talented fellow! ☺️

I like Magritte on a superficial level and his play with irony but I’m not sure of it affects me deeper than that. Maybe it does 🤷♂️
Wooowww🔥🔥🔥

Could you please suggest another voice actor we could work with?

I have a sexy, personable, calming voice (many 'dames have whispered to me). Where can I send an audition tape?! @@CuriousMuse
Ceci n'est pas un narrateur humain 😉
Well, last time we checked, he actually is ☺️
There is something unnerving about the narrator’s cadence though. Something uncanny valley about it.
@@MattMurphyMusicTeacher Interesting. This is a new voice actor we’ve used so thank you for the feedback 🙏🏻
@@CuriousMuseThe intonation and pronunciation is a little strange in places, which made it sound artificially generated.
