Went I went vegan, I went giant salad vegan. I stopped wasting and throwing out veg, to using and buying lots of veg. My salads are for dinner and include beans, seeds, avocados, seaweed, nutritional yeast and many types of veg. Nothing gets tossed out.
I also like stuff in salads that other people cook... as long as one has good teeth... e.g. good, fresh fennel, diced, is a nice addition to salad, actually it tastes much nicer raw than cooked, to me anyway. Really good quality olives, without much salt or additives, and naturally ripened, are also a nice addition. And I never do "dressing", it's a waste of time for me... also I don't want to make things more acidic unnecessarily. I might add a bit of a good olive oil.

This is, easily, one of the most inspiring and immediately useful vids I've watched in a VERY long time. It will be immensely helpful as I continue to lose weight (49.1lbs so far) and become what I call, vibrantly vigorous health. Best tip: take the time to make your own dressing. Lately I've combined a spoonful of tahini with chili-spiced hummus and avocado. Y.U.M. Thank you, so much, for this vid!
I’m not vegan, but my husband and I eat salads 5 days per week for lunch. Our salads typically are: red cabbage, spinach, kale, carrots, cherry tomatoes, sugar snap peas, pistachios, black beans, hemp hearts, olives, olive oil, aged (thick!) balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper, and turmeric powder. We do mix it up, and he sometimes has lunch meat on his. Or we’ll add avocado. Or a different green. I love them and look forward to them so much!
Salad temperature also is a thing. Some people hate them chilled or just cold. Either let it warm up to room temp or add hot ingredients and mix. ❤ Also: bite-size. Do whatever you love, you don't have to chew on large leaves.
The intro of the video already had everything great. Sarcastic salad eating, fun office reference and a stance against diet culture. Love it and I'm also a salad person now. Restaurant salads usually make me sad with how uncreative they are. Better make my own. Thanks for the inspiration!

just bought your ebook! I hate vegetables but I just turned 30 and need to become a salad tolerater! Hopefully, one day I will graduate to a salad person. I did not know how to cook at all and started watching your videos in 2020 (and bought your instantpot cookbook!). I think I just had this epiphany that salads don't have to be strictly a certain type- that you can do whatever you want with the flavors you want to include. Thank you for the e-book, I can't wait to explore what other possibilities I can create with salads!
I have been in love with salads for a while too. This week I had an Italian style chopped salad with fresh basil, pepperoncini, sun dried tomatoes and roasted chick peas. I got some new tips from this video. I have a big bag of dates right now. Thank you very much !
I love all these suggestions and find that some kind of creamy dressing is what really makes my salad satisfying. I make my own with either cashews, tahini, peanut butter, walnut, pumpkin seeds or avocado. Any seed or nut butter blended up with other ingredients for a balance of tangy, creamy, sweet, salty, aromatic and spicy if desired. ✌🏻💚
I love adding marinated baked tofu to my salads. I make a "bacon" flavored marinade for it and it's amazing. Makes me eager to eat my salad. Agree 100% with all the recommendations - texture, color, flavor are all key. Also, try adding pickled red onion to your salad. Flavor bomb. And I have a pre-made seed-mix that I sprinkle on all my salads: hemp, sunflower, chia, sesame, flax, pumpkin.

My family made our own ranch dressing and we used veggies from the garden. I think I fell into the diet culture boring salads as an adult and lost interest in them or was afraid of eating ones that had "too many calories" if it looked good. Meal planning for next week and will incorporate two days for salads :)
How fun that you had a home garden to grow veggies as a kid! And I’m delighted you’re excited to prep some stuff for salads this week, but even happier that you’ve found a way out of diet culture 👏🏽
I love your disclaimer at the beginning! One of my favorite [first} lessons to start LOVING my salads was to chop chop chop my greens and all other ingredients. My husband accuses me of needing a spoon to eat it. 😋 But I am getting MORE nutrients by getting MORE healthy goodies.
I developed an allergy to lettuce last year. It's been a real struggle! I've found outbrecently though that i can seemingly eat all chicory plants without issue! I've found arugula, shaved brussel sprouts and curly endive to make a yummy green salad mix for me.
Yikes to having a lettuce allergy! 😮 Could you be sensitive to pesticides often used on non-organic lettuce? It may be worth checking into with your MD and/or allergist so you can enjoy all your favorites. 🥬
@@ReillyWilde The first lettuce I reacted to I had grown myself in nothing but soil. I'm allergic to many things. I see an allergist 2x a week for shots.
I too have become a big salad fan recently... it's so easy, throw items in bowl, apply dressing, eat. And it's useful for work when I am on the go and don't have a microwave available for leftovers and such.
Hi, I'm not vegan nor vegetarian but I am really enjoying your channel. I have already tried a few of your recipes and thoroughly enjoyed them ( especially your spicy tofu ). Just bought the salad guide as I'm getting stuck in a rut with them and just love the ideas you have introduced in the video, looking forward to trying some of the textures you suggested. Thanks for the inspiration, love the style of your channel.
did not even bother to watch the ebook description AUTOMATICALLY BOUGHT IT. I fucking hate salads, and i fucking love what you do. If I ever start eating salad because of you, i'm pretty sure you'll earn your definite place in heaven
Hello there ! I just bought your salad ebook, and i read through it and i'm already looking forward to try them all ! I'm french, and the ebook shape works so well for me as i sometimes need to translate some product names ! The promo code was a plus of couse, but your concept of "blocs" paired with the salad is really motivating ! Eventhough we have great food here, it is a bit more delicate when it comes to vegan food as i'm in a country of butter/cream/cheese/milk LOVERS. Moreover, "blocs strategy" enables swaps and local adjustements. i'm still new to the vegan world : i have a vegan mom, but i'm more of a flexitarian person, willing to go on the vegan side as much as possible while living with a non-vegan boyfriend, and, once more, "bloc strategy" is amazing for that too. Soooo thank you very much for your work, passion and positive energy :D It's amazingly enjoyable ! :D
Just bought your book! I’m looking forward to making my own dressings and being more creative. I just retired and I plan on spending more time in my kitchen. Your book is just what I needed to give me a jump start. The ebook price was amazing! Ty💕
My mom would make a hot bacon dressing and red leaf lettuce (grown in our garden). Now I put chili and other hot ingredients over my lettuce in a bowl. It’s a taste delight in every bite. Thanks for all the tips.
This video is so great! Thank you for all the tips! I just whipped myself up a salad for lunch using your tahini dressing recipe and paired it with red butter lettuce and little gem, cucumbers and red peppers from my garden, sun-dried tomatoes (the chewiness from these is a game changer!), falafel from Trader Joe's, and some za'atar sprinkled over the whole thing. I've been in a food rut for over a year now and your videos are helping me get re-inspired and getting back into healthy eating habits.
Thank you for this video, have just downloaded and scanned through your e-book, really useful. Ever since I started making my own salads 60+ years ago in my late teens, I've always made my own dressings, never from a recipe. The only drawback was/is that I've always liked them so much that my salads tend to be dressing-logged, well so my friends complain. Think I'll surprise them and use some of your dressing recipes. This is good timing as we're now heading into spring which is mega salad time for me.
Already a salad person but getting the book for my friends😊🥗 Thanks always for the amount of info you pack into each video❤ There’s always something new that gives me inspiration✨
You’re amazing, thank you for all these videos! I definitely get a little intimidated by the prep necessary for salads and this video helped alleviate that and inspire me to become more of a salad person 🥗
Just bought the e-book! So happy to get a chance to support one of my favorite youtubers while getting a chance to make my life better (tastier!). I love salads too but have never been able to master the art of making them at home. I made a promise to myself to try all the recipes in your book.
Just purchased the ebook. I've never been a great maker of salads in the past (thinking about all of the different ingredients is a stumbling block for me). So, I've steered away from all but the very basic ones. My salads were nothing to write home about. I'm hoping your ebook will finally get me over the hump so I can start enjoying them from now on.
Thankyou for this, I am in my element making soups, stews etc. but when it comes to salads the brakes go on! I find the dressings intimidating and am just not real creative in this realm. Being single doesn't help either as salad fixings can go bad quickly and hard to use them up without eating the same thing everyday. I'm not big on ebooks, prefer paper but appreciate all the tips in your videos.
I'm vegan but I literally never eat salads. Mainly I eat soups to avoid cooking oils. Basically make vegetable soups w/ kale, lentils, arugula, corn, celery, onion, tomatoes, carrots, etc....I like the taste of some vegetables that I dislike like for example celery in the soup form weirdly enough...Though I do want to try a salad w/ chickpeas that sounds good...Considering I only eat chickpeas in the form of hummus...This video is high quality production and information...great vid
I would never think Mmmm I want a Salads but when I'd have it I'd love it. This went on for decades. Now, I love and crave ... not for weight loss for just nutrition and taste and how I feeellll!! And you are helping me see and have them a regular part if my life. 🎉🎉🎉to your disclaimer👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 🎉
the ebook looks so nice!!! I can't wait to get into it. your channel has inspired me a lot this year and brought some joy back into cooking for me. thank you nisa!!
Love this vid. I’m big on vinaigrette or “dry” salads because you can actually taste the veggies. I enjoy the taste of green, but that’s just me. Uh uh! My fave crunch is chopped walnut in salads.
Same here! I love all the tastes of greens and the vegetables within. It's such a nice variety of flavors. I love everything about the flavors of a salad. It's like a palette of color flavors for your palate. Or something like that. Salad has always been my favorite food. My name is Sally which sounds a little like salad so that makes it perfect.
Thanks for another great video. I just ordered the ebook. I’ve been making my own salad dressing for awhile now (store bought dressings make my tongue blister) but I love all the ideas you give for variety. I’m looking forward to tomatoes from my garden to use, hopefully soon.
I freaking LOVE salads. On a whim recently, I noticed that I had a ton of carrot tops. Yup. Minced up they added a lovely herby note to my huge kale salad. Beet greens rock, too. I also toast sunflower seeds or hazelnuts more nowadays as they are less water intense crops. You can also use cooked beans that you spin down with a bit of lemon juice and miso / sesame oil and it can be a salad dressing, too. Thank you for the additional tools for my toolbox, Miss Nisha!
That's a very comprehensive guide. Thank you. I tend to stick to the same salad components, but switch the green base and bean variety. Sometimes I'll add things that need to be used up, but I don't overcomplicate it or try to make them too fancy.
Getting away from lettuce is really key. Salad has been my fav since I was young, but that was probably because I was eating salads that aren't full of lettuce, like horiatiki salad.
I love salads, a lot! The one I'm enjoying at the moment is baked baby potatoes, grilled tomatoes, red kidney beans with raw bell peppers (all of them), radish, cucumber, and red onion. Then adding avocado and sauerkraut gives a really fresh meal. My dressing is very simple: extra olive oil, apple cider vinegar with salt. I eat this but then I have a rainbow sandwich that includes other raw ingredients.
Thank you so much for this video and ebook. It's exactly what I needed. I've been wanting to incorporate more salads and your guide is perfect! Can't wait to prep on Sunday's so I'll have great salads to put together throughout the week.
Great video. Thanks for making it. During watching it I had moments that I considered adopting salads, but they did not last long and they are not affecting anything that will change my life. But hay, it is a start. All I can say salads surely is complex cooking.
So thrilled about your ebook! I'd love to see more of these template-style books. You are without a doubt my go-to person for recipes and watching your channel has helped me become such a better cook. Thank you!
I love these tips! The last one is so important; prepping in advance is key to increase the chances of having a salad during the week. The ebook is very well done; thank you for sharing! ❤
Oh my sweet Lord - a disclaimer about not promoting body ideals and diet culture. Thank you so so much Nisha! Just a few words can mean so much to many people
Thank you. I've been meaning to put together something like this to share with my friends (followers). Thanks Nisha. I downloaded it already and It looks great. Thanks for the inspiration to make great salads! 🤗
Great content....I will keep this video close to my heart and my kitchen......SAlads for me are one of the most satisfying gastronomic experience....exactly how you recomend to do it. Thank you so much!
Love this. Great tips. I personally love chopped raw nuts and seeds in my salad. Tried toasted & didn’t seem to add a difference to taste. I also love to add fresh herbs (basil, thyme, parsley). So good. Or, add leftover veg that had been cooked with lots of aromatics. Once there is salty, sweet, herby, crunchy all mixed in, I don’t even need salad dressing.
Wow this is amazing content. I just bought the eBook, which costs about only a cup of coffee. So worth it. Nisha, I’m looking forward to your next cookbook!
Eat salads everyday- So versatile- easy to throw together- filling and I get good nutrients from them- I love a wide variety -through my 20s, I thought salads were the boring lettuce, tomato and cucumber variety…About 20 years ago, Big Salads came to our area and I got create in trying different variety of lettuces, other veggies, seeds…Now I make mine at home 😁
Thank-you Nisha! I have used your previous video of “My Favorite Formula for Salads” as a reference for a few years and this video provides even more information. I purchased the E-book without a hitch and it is beautiful and so reasonably priced. I am already a salad person but look forward to learning more.
Was thinking I need a tahini salad dressing to use some up and this video came up whilst I was watching a random mix from your channel 😂. Red cos lettuce and raisins mixed with your tahini dressing......yum yum. Thanks Nisha 😁
I think I have realized I don’t like cold salad regularly. I’m okay with it sometimes and depends on the salad but I definitely prefer more room temperature veggies or even warm.
You have so many great ideas, and your delivery is snappy too, not slow or boring. Would hope you have oil-free dressings to share, other than creamy ones. I do not tolerate oil, probably because of newer processing ingredients and my own chemistry.
I love all your great tips and definitely need to incorporate more of the grains into my salad. I eat a very large salad everyday as one of my main meals. I always add thinly sliced cabbage for crunch, and I’ll grate fresh broccoli, cut carrots, and always make my own dressing. Sometimes I simply add the dressing ingredients into the salad then toss. Today I did mix a tahini dressing. But one favorite is after adding spices like salt, crushed red pepper and garlic, I sprinkle on Parmesan cheese, then drizzle maple syrup and balsamic vinegar and toss. The Parm with the maple syrup is so good, it’s one of my regular dressings. I like adding crispy tofu or chickpeas, and will even toss in some pasta. I’m not crazy about quinoa but like the idea of roasting it for salads. I’ve just started using farro beans but only to grind to make a pizza crust, I haven’t cooked it as a bean, I need to know how best to cook those and prepare. I’m definitely going to check your salad ebook. Thank you 🌟
I love mixed raw veg and fruit and other… aka salad… with homemade sauce over and over. Many of mine are delicious And no added fats. Love them…glad you like them too.
You know what! I love you, your presentation from start to end, lots of information, no calling out for like or subscribe, an exposure for us to Global culinery culture, and last but not d least, your 'bye'. :)
I never had an issue with salad but when I was younger I wasn't quite as creative with what I put in my salads so they weren't that exciting. Only in recent years, I've learned to add a sh*it ton of stuff into it to make it friggin amazing :D during the summer months I am alll about the salad every single day, sometimes in wrap form, sometimes just as a salad. But now in the winter time when it's cold I am really craving warm food, so in November/December it's always difficult for me to transition from my salad obsession to actually cooking veggies, but now in January I'm back on track and doing lots of oven roasted veggies or stir-fry type of things. Watching your video just made me realize I could easily do a sort of warm salad variation for now until it gets warmer again, kinda like a buddha bowl type of thing. Thanks for the inspo and for reminding me of my love for salads
My favorite combo with homemade vinaigrette or citrus dressing is hulled hemp seeds. They add a great nutty flavor and help to keep you full with lots of good protein.
Thank you for this fun salad ideas book. I love salads and eat them often so it’s nice to have some extra inspiration in the kitchen. I love your channel and always enjoy any recipe of yours that I make. As I said before, you’re the best!

Bought your e-book yesterday and am blown away with the quality of this beautiful guide. Also, so appreciate the price. An amazing value!!! Thank you.
Vegan for almost 3 years now and learned a lot from your channel, thank you so much.
did not even bother to watch the ebook description AUTOMATICALLY BOUGHT IT.
I fucking hate salads, and i fucking love what you do. If I ever start eating salad because of you, i'm pretty sure you'll earn your definite place in heaven
You are absolutely fabulous. I’m so happy I ran into your channel.
Thank you for this video...I love salad but I now realize how limited I have been...this ebook and your video have inspired me.....thanks again!
Big salad bowls with a variety of textures and flavors for the win!
🙏🎯
Since I've become addicted to Rainbow Plant Life for awhile, my meals are more exciting!
So many great tips. Excited to make some great salads in the coming weeks!
Thanks!
Thanks for supporting my work!
I would never think Mmmm I want a Salads but when I'd have it I'd love it. This went on for decades.
Now, I love and crave ... not for weight loss for just nutrition and taste and how I feeellll!!
And you are helping me see and have them a regular part if my life.
🎉🎉🎉to your disclaimer👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
🎉
Thank you for this video and your e-book! Your videos have really helped me eat more whole foods and prep so I dont get take out
Damn! What a valuable and informative dissertation on salad! Running to get ingredients 🏃🏾♂️💨
Thank you! really good ideas for salads
the ebook looks so nice!!! I can't wait to get into it. your channel has inspired me a lot this year and brought some joy back into cooking for me. thank you nisa!!
Just purchased your salad guide. Thanks for sharing such well presented information.
Wow!No one can run out of salad ideas after this!
I really want to love salads but I don’t. So I bought your ebook. Fingers crossed!
Homemade vegan salads are the best
Danke!
Thanks for supporting my work!
Love your channel and I’m happy to support you in any way I can! Just bought the EBook!
Thanks for another great video. I just ordered the ebook. I’ve been making my own salad dressing for awhile now (store bought dressings make my tongue blister) but I love all the ideas you give for variety. I’m looking forward to tomatoes from my garden to use, hopefully soon.
I could watch your videos all day, it's so refreshing and fun, pun intended XD. Thank you so much for thisss
🥰 I’m honored! And bring on all the puns!
Sold! Just ordered your guide. I love salads, but I don’t make them often enough. Your tips are brilliant and I plan to up my salad game!
I'm allergic to lettuce and love arugula, curly endive, and shaved brussel sprouts together. They are my favorite go to salad mix
Thank you!
Aww I'm so glad to hear that, thank you! 🤗
I put potato chips and pretzels as croutons in my salad. Sooo good😻
I love these tips! The last one is so important; prepping in advance is key to increase the chances of having a salad during the week.
The ebook is very well done; thank you for sharing! ❤
Thanks Nisha for all your hard work. And especially your tips on how to meal prep. Just ordered the e-book.
I like the level of depth you went into in this video
This is so much great information, and the price is amazing! Thank you for putting all of this in one easy to access location ❤
Same here. I really find your videos useful!
Love this video, had a great time watching it!! Thank you for sharing. I always struggle to make salads that I really enjoy. Love your approach here
Wow this is amazing content.
Love to hear that, Eileen!
Loved this vid :) You always give me such great inspiration, thank you x
Was thinking I need a tahini salad dressing to use some up and this video came up whilst I was watching a random mix from your channel 😂. Red cos lettuce and raisins mixed with your tahini dressing......yum yum. Thanks Nisha 😁
Thank you so much! I have my own garden out back and I STILL need some inspiration! :)
I think I have realized I don’t like cold salad regularly. I’m okay with it sometimes and depends on the salad but I definitely prefer more room temperature veggies or even warm.
Thanks for these great tips, love your videos- the toasted quinoa has changed my life!🤩🙏
Just ordered! Thank you! I need all the help I can get with salads 🥗
Thanks for this video and guide. It is exactly what I need at this exact moment.
You have so many great ideas, and your delivery is snappy too, not slow or boring. Would hope you have oil-free dressings to share, other than creamy ones. I do not tolerate oil, probably because of newer
processing ingredients and my own chemistry.
Appreciate this video so much I bought the ebook. Thank you for the quality content!
Just got your e book, so excited to try the dressings!!
Awesome your salads are how i fell in love with your channel
☺️ that’s awesome to hear!
My favorite combo with homemade vinaigrette or citrus dressing is hulled hemp seeds. They add a great nutty flavor and help to keep you full with lots of good protein.
I just purchased your e-book. I love your recipes and now I don’t have to print the salad recipes. You make cooking fun!!
Thank you for this fun salad ideas book. I love salads and eat them often so it’s nice to have some extra inspiration in the kitchen. I love your channel and always enjoy any recipe of yours that I make. As I said before, you’re the best!
I just ordered. I’ve been looking for this kind of guide, especially for salad dressings. I’m going plant based and this will help tremendously! Thank you!
