    I am NOT car savvy and this video made it possible for me to start doing the oil change for my 2015 Toyota Corolla, so thank you so much! I’ve only done it once thus far, but today I’m performing it on my wife’s Corolla! I will definitely be throwing you some thank you tip money at some point!

    Glad to see someone that isn’t trying to clean the old oil out of the housing. All unnecessary cleaning is risk of introducing dirt to the clean side of the filter.

    It makes me wonder if some of the little independent oil change shops actually have that tool lying around or if they just drain and fill the oil without changing the filter whenever one of these Corollas comes through.

    Great video, I have a 2014 Corolla with 42,000 miles. I change my own oil as well, Ive been using Castrol GTX Magnatec synthetic 0w-20 and change it every 5,000 miles (Phoenix AZ), I used GTX synthetic blend 0W-20 for my last oil change and noticed it burned a half of quart of oil at 4,000miles. Went to Walmart, they sell GTX Magnatec synthetic for $20.00 and a Toyota OEM oil filter for $5.99, definitely a bargin compared to the stealership.

    Please folks, don't go by the "dumb" warranty 10,000 intervul! This intervul is a "selling-point" to make you "THINK" you are worry-free and have no need to worry about oil changes -- NOT! If you care about your "investment" and want to keep your car, think about the cost of an engine vs. oil changes. In the scheme of things you'll want to change every 3k, and if you absolutely need to stick to a budget, then at least change your oil at minimum, at 4,000 to 4,500 , miles. Where this guy is coming from is "highway miles", but this is not normal, most of us drive city and highway. Bottom line, change your oil at least every 3k -- you'll rest assured your engine will last, and it only makes sense to not go cheap will oil. Use Mobile One 0-20 or the Castrol brand 0-20, and either an OEM filter or a Mobile One M1C-154A (THIS SIZE FITS 2015 COROLLA), AND IS ACTUALLY A BETTER FILIMENT THAN THE OEM, JUST SAYING. Other than this statement, this is a good video that shows how to get to the filter and change your oil. But remember, most all these corolla cars have little differences here and there, just because it's a 2015 does NOT make them all alike. For example, my 'S' model does have a retainer clip on the filter housing, where this guy's Corolla does not. Just be aware of this. Now, get to changing your oil. :))

    Great video, but if you drain the oil first, it would take the pressure off and so the housing would come off easier.

    I'm lazy with knowledge. My mechanic moved on me and now he's at an inconvenient location, the other place is rude and pissed me off. So now it's back to doing my own oil changes. Used to have an easy truck to do oil changes now I have one of these with 4 inches of ground clearance. I know the importance of oil changes yet my actions or more accurately inaction has me as a dumb blonde girl who knows nothing about oil. I have non-synthetic oil with about 8000 miles on it. I have to change it before I become the first fully knowledgeable idiot to kill a bullet proof engine. Thank you for this video.

      Jack Howell I agree, I’ve heard too many horror stories of the mistakes that mechanics make. A friend of mine brought his car in for an oil change and they forgot to put the cap back on and he drove for about an hour with it off and it made a complete mess under the hood.

    If you ever want to covert the oil filter housing to be able to fit on regular spin on filters you can order the parts from Toyota. I did that on my 2010 Corolla. Looks like mid 2015 production they switched oil filter housings to get rid of the canister/cartridge type filter and went back to spin on metal filter.

    • @robmulero3554
      @robmulero3554 Рік тому +1

      It's hard to read after an oil change because the oil is so thin and clean. I usually fill it up with 4 liters of oil which is about 4.2 quarts and let it run for a few days that way, then let it sit overnight to let the oil settle and pull the dipstick to check the oil level.

      TheDavePhan they did cartridge for a while then when back to screw on type more recently. If I had to guess I would say two reasons they went back to screw on type. One, it saves the dealers a lot of time when they were doing tons of oil changes, and two, enough people probably complained that the cartridge ones are more involved and messier.
