As for shelding gas in the wind, I use a old welding apron and some welding magnets to secure it. Also carry a few large mud flaps, for shelding or to Neal on. Farm welding mostly in muddy fields with lots of wind, though as you said stick would have been my first choice..in Canada I have repaired 7 of these camper frames. Subed
Love it dude, I’m 2 years in and running a Ranger 250 and an Everlast Imig200 with Lincoln NR211mp wire. That Everlast with the fcaw works great in windy conditions or if you’re caught in the rain and really want to get the job done that day!
You're definitely right about that. Thanks for watching my videos and giving me good advice. I don't know everything I'm learning everyday and I love getting advice from you guys.
Yes I did. In fact I had the same theory. I brought it up to the customers attention And has since been replaced. Thanks for confirming my suspicion. I love to get a 2nd or 3rd opinion✊😁💯
Suitcases are the best option hands down but they're very expensive!!! They don't become financially viable until your doing larger industrial applications where your burning wire steady or far away from your rig. For small contractors a $500 mig with a 220 extension cord running of a parent welder like his mpx is the best option. When your 100 feet up in a hopper at a mine a LN-25 is definitely the way to go!
How can someone charge $500 for putting on a plate that doesn’t even cover the crack and weld it on with spit basically?! Good of you to fix the problem and show what a real welder does 👍🏻
I would’ve pulled the Stick Welder leads out on this one…I wouldn’t have used MIG…wasting money letting my shielding gas get blown around…either way…good work!
Got dam who repaired that 😂 U made the repair look easy , arc welding would of done it , crack wasn’t that bad , nothing like testing your skills in the field when u battle the elements .
poor work. even if your weld was full pen-doubtful with mig and wind, the HAZ weakened the frame near the weld, you should have put on a fish plate over the weld....putting a repair like this on the web may put you at a liability risk.
First off, it was a full penetration weld as I maintained the keyhole all the way through and ground out the weld when I had to pause due to wind I welded hulls in shipyards which requires 💯% penetration for years my guy👌. I also ran stringer beads. Your better off talking shit about 1st repair the other welder did. My repair holds to this day✊
@@DannyWeldz why didnt you put a backer plate on the channel like you did in the shipyard...even worse if you knew how to do it correctly and didnt...did you do a lot of short circuit mig on those ship plates? i saw a keyhole for only a little of the work. stringers dont involve starting and stopping every ten seconds either....hmmm. better to not document poor workmanship on film where you say outright "i should have used stick". in the video. tell us about your nuclear work now....lol tell your viewers about the HAZ that you didn't use a fish plate to strengthen. didnt see any prep to the back of the channel--no porosity there then???? at least with fcaw you would have had some chemicals to remove some of the crap from the weld.
Don't need a backing plate my man I could clearly tell there was full penetration by look at the backside and because I could tell what I was doing. Lay off the meth my man it's a camper frame not a nuclear reactor. I can tell your one of those guys that kiss ass to boss man for a raise. Take that shit elsewhere my man. Go on someone else's channel. You want to give advice then by all means do that but don't criticize my work like you're king shit of ass mountain. @@peetky8645 very nice setup my man. I did a simple frame repair today and laughed because I thought about you because you'd probably want a backing plate on it. It's a frame crack on a 79 bronco I'll post the video up tommorow night or Wednesday morning. No hard feelings my man. Let's go out there and get this money💰 Skitit!✊🤘💯
Ok first repair wasn't a repair!!! You'rs was better. But Leaf was broken. No fish plate??? Bad choice... And pretty sure that frame was a tube frame. So gotta say good try but still a fail. Cause you only kinda fixed it. Wasn't a TOTAL fix.
Yes leaf spring was broken customer replaced that. As far as fish plating goes that wasn't necessary as it was welded @ full penetration with multiple passes. And relief holes were drilled. Its Still intact to this day 🤷♂️

Nice 👌 that's a pretty good idea. I always l9ve to here these small tips and tricks from fellow welders. Thanks for following my man💪💯
Well done
Thanks my man. Work hard and safe out there will ya?!

Nice man I'm about 2 years in myself and I love it. Do you do this full time? Have employees?
Glad to see you drilled the ends of the Crack,
Nice work.
Jg
Get that active 8 and run flux core, you won't have argon/wind issues
You're definitely right about that. Thanks for watching my videos and giving me good advice. I don't know everything I'm learning everyday and I love getting advice from you guys.
Always always plate!
Wasn't needed.
Good job on the repair. Did you notice the broken leaf spring? That's probably what caused the frame to brake in the first place.

You did good the other guy did a nasty patch work I hope he's watching how a welding repair is done the right way
It's was actually pretty comical bro. It's like how could you even charge for that and sleep at night?
Flux core and a suitcase (Miller 8 or 12 or a Lincoln LN-25) is the way to go. Great repair work you did. The other guy shouldn’t be charging
I ain't got LN-25 money yet. But I'm going with the Active 8X wire feeder for the Ranger 330MPX MPX

That's what I'm running at the moment but I am going to upgrade to the lincoln Active 8x

True facts I should've went with my instincts and stick welded. The shielding gas kept blowing out
