I don’t know if I’m just weak, but it won’t just let me slide out the coin mechanism. I am 100% sure I have the same model.
same here!
Yea I have no idea how to do it either
Same.
There’s a screw on the bottom side you need to back out a little. I just tried on mine and had the same issue. Open the bottom cover by removing the screw holding the plastic base (mine was grey). Next, on the coin mechanism, locate the screw positioned at the lowest part of the machine. The screw is barely accessible with a screwdriver because of the angle, but it is manageable. Back that out a couple turns and then try pulling the coin mechanism out again. Should come out with a little force.
After removing the two pieces, I flipped them both around and screwed them both back in for safe keeping in case I decide to use the coin function again for whatever reason.
@@HiThisIsMine thank you for this reply, I had the exact same problem and this fixed it!
Thank you for this video. This really helped! Please consider adding a step about the screw holding the sliding coin mechanism in place.
Thank you for the input. We'll add it to the list for the next version!
This video saved my nieces candy themed party!!! Thank you for posting.
Thank you so much! This video was perfect, even for my new dispenser, which had a plastic piece glued in instead of metal screws. I just used a flat-head screwdriver to pry up the metal piece from the glue and it dispenses for free now! Thank you so much for reassembly directions as well. Very helpful.
One word of advice, the piece you take out of course will most probably get lost so my suggestion is that it seems there is room to screw that part back in again below as there seem to be enough space for it providing it will not interfere .
I just bought two big candy machines and watched your video. I was able to take the mechanism out to make it where my children don't have to put money in the machine. Thank you very much for sharing. I'm very happy.
Your video was awesome!! I just purchased a machine and wanted it to be free. I appreciate you sharing your wealth of knowledge all around!! Thank you!
Thanks! We like being the goto people for gumball machines; thank you for your comment.
Im gonna put cat treats in mine!!! Thank you for this!!!
I put mine at the sidewalk where everyone with their dogs walks by. I put little dog kibble in mine! :-)
Well, that was a lot easier than I anticipated. Thank you!
Thanks! This is just the info I needed! Be blessed.
Thank you for the helpful video! I thrifted two of these machines that were like new but the petite mechanism wouldn't turn the right way + we wanted it to free spin anyways and this video helped!
Thank you!! Couldn't figure out how to do this but know I got it.
*now
This is what I need….
Thank you so much. Now i can use it for my kids birthday.
Thanks!
If you've bought a plastic recreation recently from somewhere like Canadian Tire, this works as well.
Hello Joshua. Nice to see you. What does the red canvas in the background represent? Why is it there? WHY?!
It's part of the decoration in the warehouse where this was filmed and has no relevance except the composition of the picture.
Thanks so much for the tutorial! I'm actually trying to do the opposite of what this video shows - I inherited a similar gumball machine from my great grandparents and the "dog arm" piece that you refer to in this video is missing. My goal is to make the machine no longer free-spin, so that it *does* require coins. I haven't had success in finding a "dog arm" replacement part yet. Do you know where I can purchase one? Thanks so much!
Hi, Christina. You are so welcome. Unfortunately, it's not customary to sell the sub-parts of the coin mechanisms, at least not within our knowledge. I'd suggest if you have a friend or handyman-type who could recreate the dog arm, that might be a solution. Thanks for giving gumballs.com a try!
Ebay might.
I just bought a gumball machine from someone and it free spins- meaning all my gum balls are stolen by kids!!! How do I get it to take coins?
To make a machine free spin usually requires you to remove a few pieces of the coin mechanism. If you no longer have those parts, you'll need to buy a new coin mech. See instructions on how to make coin mechs free spin: www.gumballs.com/how-to-convert-vending-machine-coin-mechanism-free-spin.html
For mine the arm part was just turned upside down so it was out of the way. I just flipped it around and it worked
Easy peasy. My kiddos sugar intake thanks you.
had to get a rubber mallet and lightly bang out the coin mechanism it came loose and slid up, the rest was easy.
Hello, I am writing from Puerto Rico, I am currently a university student and I am trying to pay for my studies. I recently bought an Acorn old machine but it only accepts 5 cents and i wanted to change it to 25cent, I wanted to now it if has some specific wheel or if any replacement works ?
I don't have a link, but I am sure you can find one. My newer bubblegum machine allows for different size coins. Depending on the (size) coin you put in determines the amount (# of pieces) you get. Hope this helps.
Great video thank you🤗
Is it possible that I can get just a dog arm sent to me? I took it out a while back ago and I can’t seem to find it, I now want to make it where you have to have a coin to get candy. Is there any email I can talk to you about my situation? If you can’t send one to me, do you know where to get one?
Hi, Larry. we carry parts here www.gumballs.com/king-carousel-gumball-machine-parts.html but unfortunately the solution we can offer is to sell you a whole new coin mechanism which yes, would include the little gold piece. You can contact our company at info@gumballs.com, but I think we may have had a text conversation about it yesterday
I need that same part
Can you make it only receive one type of coin ?
It will only take one type of coin depending on what coin the mech was made for.
Thank you
You are still missing a piece of the machine. Looks like four springs and it takes two screws to attach some where. Tell me where please.
I'm not sure what piece we're missing, but if you know which one it is, please tell me. And please send pictures of your machine to info at gumballs dot com.
I am curious if there is any reason the grease the coin mechanism? Thank you.
you made this look so easy but I can't get that screw out at ALL. it's like very stuck. I think i've just stripped the screw too.
please email pictures of your current situation to info "at" gumballs dot com. Thanks
What if I want it to only take quorters?
I took mine apart and cleaned it but after putting it back together it requires 3 pennies before dropping any candy (although the first two spins it'll give like 1 m&m each instead of the max amount I set it to) how would you fix that?
Couple things: 1. does it require 3 pennies /turns continuously? or just at the beginning? If just at the beginning, then it should clear up over time as the wells fill up that measure out the product. 2. If it continually requires 3 pennies there might be an alignment problem. I can help, go to our contact page via the link above and send an email with pictures of the machine, namely the bottom of the storage area where the product sits.
My coin mechanism wont come out what should I do?
I had the same problem so I used a hammer at the bottom lip but used a wooden block against the coin mechanism. It was laying on it!s side to make it easier.
Would you guys be so kind as to post an image of the various dog arms with their accompanied springs next to a scale, so that some of us might recreate them? I can't find a good image anywhere.
Yes, so I think I have some screenshots & links to help you. CAn you go to our ABOUT page and contact us through our website, please?
Hello guys I need help with assembly of King Carousel coin mechanism behind the "white free wheel".There is a Gold piece and 1 little spring that I need to put back inside.Due to a coin being jammed.any help is greatly appreciated.
I don't have the dog arm I'm trying to make it so the candy only comes out if you put a coin in. Where can I get one?
Hi! Unknown. We only offer the complete coin mechanisms when they are in stock, but if you know a handy metalworker, perhaps they could recreate it. We don't carry "sub-parts", Thank you for checking in!
@@gumballscom I checked y'all's website and the complete coin mechanism is out of stock is there any other place to get it?
Where can I buy the restricter part without buying the whole mechanism
Sorry, we don't know. We only sell the whole coin mechanisms. A savvy fabricator might could create one for you?
How the heck did u just slide the coin mechanism off like that? Mine seems like it is welded on or something.
They can be sticky. A couple suggestions: 1) try pulling apart with someone different holding each part, 2) WD40 (but clean everything real good after) or 3) run hot water on the coin mech outside; the heat normally would expand the metal slightly & help it possibly pull away from the red body. I'd try #1 first, then #3 with #1 and WD40 as a last resort. Thank you for commenting.
are we able to buy the separate gears within the coin mechanism?
Hi Sarah unfortunately the gears are not sold separately, however you can buy a replacement coin mechanism here www.gumballs.com/vending-machine-parts.html
Does this process work for a Carousel from 1985?
Yes. It's precisely for those machines that this video was created. They say 1985 and a circus tent in the top left of the coin mechanism.
i have carasoul gumball machine but i need the coin mechanism replaced where can i get parts
www.gumballs.com/catalogsearch/result?q=carousel+parts if you have a 15" or 12" machine
what size gumballs does the mini take?
mini gumballs.
Can you make it take specific coins?
No. Best option for that is not to tell that it takes any coin & put a sign on it for the coin you want it to take. That will work for a while for many youngsters!
@@gumballscom I appreciate the quick response.
I'm completely new to all this, and I'm getting my first machine today.
@@justinlorenz9686 Congratulations. We're here to help.
That thing won’t come out ;-; so like how do I get it out
Which "thing"? Please can you send some pictures to info@gumballs.com & I can try to help you?
You forgot to put the nut back on.
I have the king
It bothers me so much that you did a great job on the video, yet you forgot to put the nut back on. Also, the minor nitpick about not truly aligning the brush off plate. Thanks for the video.
