Ya know the Jedi Order in the prequels when it comes to attachments. It's both good and bad. The Jedi aren't functioning the way they should in these films. They're following the will of the Republic instead of the will of the Force. They lost their way. On the other hand the whole attachment is forbidden thing is somewhat justified cause you see Anakin commit atrocities beecause he fears losing his wife.

Exactly. Grievous even says as much to Kenobi, "Your lightsaber will make a worthy addition to my collection."
Oh, and why Grievous coughed? Lucas has the voice actor recording Grievous' dialogue and Lucas was coughing that day. Lucas thought it would be funny to put that in there.
There was a traditionally animated cartoon version of the Clone Wars that explained it that while the Chancellor was being kidnapped, Mace Windu (Samuel L Jackson) choked Grievous using the Force (as Vader would do in other films) and damaged Grievous' wind pipes.

To help further understanding of what Yoda was saying; he doesn't believe that everyone
should stop caring about loved ones nor does he believe that it is a bad thing.
This is strictly in regards to the Jedi order. The Jedi way is to give all of yourself to the light
side of the force as its servant and to avoid the path to the dark side at all cost. It was Anakin's
attachments that lead him to the dark side. His love for Padme lead him to fear her loss.
You can not be a Jedi and represent the order if you have other attachments. To be a Jedi,
the Force is supposed to be your only attachment.
"The fear of loss is a path to the dark side"
“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”
    - Yoda.
There are many examples in the history of this universe in which jedi had turned to the dark side and
wreaked havoc. The Jedi masters know of these instances and have a moral/ethical obligation to
destroy any member of the order who strays from the path of light. They train them and make them
dangerous so it is supposed to be their job to put them down if they sour, although this isn't always the
    case.

You could also add that in Ep. 5, Yoda explains to Luke when he has visions of Leia and Han being tortured in Cloud City that he should not run off to save them, even if it costs them their lives. When Luke questions that (as most would who value life), Yoda explains that instead of grief, you should rejoice that they have become part of the Force and that's it's ok to let go and not become attached. As a Jedi, you have to uphold to the greater good - even if it comes at great personal cost. Which is why they teach at an early age about letting go and not forming romantic attachments.

The closest real world philosophy the Sith come to would be Satanism (the secular branches, not talking about real Devil worshippers). It’s not a 1:1 comparison though, as the Sith acknowledge and believe in the supernatural Force, they just inflict their will onto it to utilize it, instead of synchronizing with it like the Jedi do.

And, best of all, it removes Ep 1, which is basically useless outside of establishing Anakin's role in the prophecy.

I don't think there's anything canon to back up my theory on this, but I've always thought that it was actually Darth Sidious (the Emperor) who killed Padme. The medical droids said that they were losing her, and they can't explain it, they assume she'd simply lost her will to live, but her dying words are not the words of someone who lost their will to live due to a broken heart as the droids said, her dying words which she doesn't complete were, "there's still good in him."
Earlier Darth Sidious told Anakin about an ability some Sith have to save those they care about from dying, mind you this is a Dark Side ability, so what I think really happened with Padme is Darth Sidious used that Dark Side ability, but being that it's a Dark Side ability it requires the life energy from someone else, to preserve the life of the intended person, so I think Darth Sidious was draining Padme's life to keep Darth Vader alive after his fight with Obi Wan.

Not going to lie... this is more than a little painful to watch. Let me suggest to anyone looking forward to sharing their favorite movie series with family or friends that you follow one simple rule - the only way to watch ANY movie series for the first time is in original release order. Even in the case of Star Wars which "appears" to have been produced out of sequence, it's simply foolhardy not to watch them as they were shared with the original, contemporaneous audience. Watching in any other order inevitably derails critical plot points, diminishes virtually every meaningful character arc, and is all but certain to leave first-time viewers in the worst of all possible worlds; exposed to spoilers AND utterly confused by what are, at their core, extremely simple stories. Is it fun to view the series through a slightly different lens? Sure... and once you're familiar with the story and characters, have at it. But to suggest that *any first-time viewer* watch Star Wars in either the chronological or Machete order (or, for that matter, the MCU viewed in chronological order) is simply destined to fail. In addition to the issues noted, they are unlikely to ever appreciate the essence of the franchise nor will they ever be able to build the shared memory and experience that are such a big part of what brings the fandom together... and that's just not fair.

Every "spoiler," "call-back," or "in-series," reference is created with that viewing experience in mind, and watching the films in any other order simply defies the intent and purpose of the creators. Second, to ensure an optimal Star Wars experience, it's far, far more entertaining, and ultimately, satisfying, to watch them as follows: #4 Star Wars (A New Hope), #5 Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back, #6 Star Wars - The Return of the Jedi, #1 Star Wars - the Phantom Menace, #2 Star Wars - The Clone Wars, #3 Star Wars - Revenge of the Sith, and then, if the first-time viewer wants more, to jump to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Mace uses a violet lightsaber because it is the actor Samual L Jackson's favorite color. George Lucas allowed it because Violet is a combination of blue and red. This fit in with the character of Mace Windu who uses a fighting style that taps into the dark side without fully giving in to it called Vaapad. Of all the Jedi outside of Anakin Mace was shown to have those dark side type actions.

It's a whole other backstory that doesn't get explained in this movie but just shortly before the opening of this movie Mace Windu used the Force to crush his lungs and that's why he's coughing. There is a shitload of supplementary media that explains little things like this, especially media set during the prequels, though it's not all canon since Disney bought the franchise.

Lol my dude gaslighting Yoda here. Yoda wasn't telling Anakin he needed to forsake others and focus on himself, he was stating that growing attached to others in truly significant ways would lead to issues for a Jedi. Jedi philosophy is one of selflessness and harmony with the force. When one acquires possessions and bonds they become susceptible to the grief and sense of loss that comes with losing those things as will inevitably happen, and with the power they wield such grief can lead to travesty, thus they try to remove such things from their motivations in order to remain pure and unbiased, rational, and pragmatic. The Sith are on the polar opposite of that ideology, they are the ones who wield the force for the sake of self-gain and personal reasons. Emotion drives their decisions and motivations. In the greater philosophy of the Star Wars universe both Jedi and Sith are somewhat devoid of humanity on account of how they view the way they should live as users of the Force.
Luke actually faces this same issue in The Empire Strikes Back when he's forced to choose between abandoning his training and saving his friends. He takes the selfish path over the logical one and winds up losing his hand on account of it. In that moment of weakness though Vader offers to him the same thing he himself was tempted and ultimately consumed by. Luke fortunately remains defiant enough to not accept it.
