Using the tv remote for a snare mute is peak chad
So punk. He's a badass.
that's 93 years of experience as drummer right there.
My dude arrived on the jazz scene just as it got started, before TVs or remotes, surviving wars just to bring you this innovation. 👏👏👏
That's his Life Alert. In case he falls and can't get up.
Side bonus of a century plus old alpha chad: watching a documentary on the great war ("feeewww I got that close to being born during this horrible mess") while playing "All of me" like it ain't a thing.
I don't think most people realize just how old this man is. Being 104, he has lived through almost 42% of America's existence. And to be able to keep a beat and be mentally aware enough of his surroundings to actually play the drums is actually insane
Thanks for your astute perspective and observation - check out our jazz album just released open.spotify.com/album/1kOCeKNNKP19NWYTCcjmJK

To reach 103 years old is incredible.
To reach 103 years old with a lucid mind to remember parts of a song is unbelievable.

Even with the brushes he uses the traditional finger grip. I don’t even do that myself. I hold my brushes the same as with my sticks, 10 and two position. He kept the rhythm perfectly! @@monicaclark9581 That's not fair to say. A lot of Rock music is upbeat and creative, too. Take Rush or Pink Floyd. It's not very nice of you to go around saying rock music is inferior.

imagine living 100 years and having the chance to see your sons grow old too haha, that's amazing
Wouldn't that be kinda depressing? You know them first as a baby, then a toddler, then a little kid full of life... and then they grow old and decrepit. Sounds horrendous to me
@@lennylennington I think that the circle of life is not necessarily depressing. A healthy person shouldn't grow old decrepit (proof is in this video), plus your children will probably have children and grandchildren too at that point, so then you will be able to rise your childrens, grandchildrens and even great grandchildrens, that sounds incredibly beautiful to me!
@lennylennington Well if you aren't aging. You're dead. So I'd much rather this. I get what you mean, but it's also touching that you're still seeing your sons grow. Still playing with you, still loving you as much as you love them. ❤️
Thanks to a horrendous attitude, some people are already decrepit and just don't know it yet ...
I see my son at 40 starting to go grey. Yes it's shocking when u don't see them for years. But then many leave us in the wrong order, and no parent should have to suffer that. So grasp the blessings of life.

@@krob5375there's a study that music, even with profound cognitive decline, is one of the last to be forgotten. music has also been known to unlock memories. i've seen dementia residents that can't even remember their families, a song from their youth plays and they can have a memory triggered - a birthday party or even a song played at their child's wedding with so much detail. sometimes even as far as saying... i remember this song from....1946 for example.

Instilling the love of music to one's children is the greatest love of all. Dad you are great😊
spot on - my mom asked me -when I was 13- if I would play the piano if she bought one and I said why not - and she said "you'll thank me later" and it is 60 years later !
As a 56yo man who grew up in the 80's with heavy metal this thoroughly enriched my soul. Sounded so sweet. Thank you for posting this.
Thanks for your share and kind words - It is a musical conversation - the one I have with Steve is over 30 years and with Dad over 60 - all based on listening. Follow and discover more of Dad and a slew of original music in several genres
Beautiful! This video is pure love, thanks for sharing.

This melts my heart, reminds me so much of my great grandmother.
Thanks for your heart felt share - hopefully this and other videos of Dad can bring you closure and joy
We need more jazz again, the world would be a happier place 😊
I am 78 now so that means that I need to keep going for another 25 years at least.
❤ You can do it! 🎶
I will be a 103 still playing my guitar. This is absolutely incredible!
Listening is the key so thanks for listening to us ! David and Steve have been having their musical "conversation" for 30 years and Dave and Dad for 60 years -Be sure to check out David Bluefield on Spotify and/or SoundCloud for more of the same (albums with the word "jazz") and alot more ! (Dave toured with Three Dog Night and played with Prince on Stevie Nicks' hit "Standback"! )-And of course, MORE OF DAD on the channel!
I played professionally as a rock guitarist and singer 45 years ago, and over the years I've grown to love jazz. Why? Because I can't play it, but I can understand it. These guys are great. Good for your grand daddy!
Thanks for listening. We are, of course, overwhelmed by the attention and to that end have included more jazz with Dad (soon to be 104) on the channel (so please follow) as well as original -other genres- songs on Spotify. open.spotify.com/track/6Osj2QruTWqgmC5vTbfPRJ?si=4a9c1c7a1cf640be
This was absolutely beautiful and I'm glad I got to experience it with you all.~

Thank you so much for the video. We're incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to listen to this gem. I was born in 88, experiencing the artistry of a 103-year-old jazz drummer is truly a refreshing change. After immersing myself in the intensity of heavy metal, with its complex polyrhythms and relentless blast beats, listening to this jazz drummer play brings a sense of peace and authenticity. His music has a soulful simplicity that transcends technicality, providing a deep connection to the roots of rhythm and melody. The gentle swing and subtle nuances in his drumming tell a story of decades spent perfecting his craft. It's a reminder that music isn't just about speed or complexity-it's about conveying emotion and creating a lasting impact. This jazz legend brings the heart back into the music, offering a timeless sound that rejuvenates the soul. May your dad lives another 100 years old more
Loved this performance from all of you! Wonderful. Thank you for sharing this.
I am a 71 year old drummer, singer, and KUDOS to your dad!! Keep on keeping on!! 🥁❤
