1963 Open Champion Sir Bob Charles, a man still capable of sub-par rounds even in his eighties, demonstrates the importance of getting the fundamentals right in golf
Bob Charles was a friend of mine for a long time before our lives took us our separate ways. I used to hang out with him at a couple of senior events every year. Bob was a health fanatic in terms of health, nutrition and physical fitness. He would go to the fitness trailer after every round of golf, lift weights and then walk the tread mill for an hour. He'd do all of this AFTER already playing his round regardless how hilly or flat the golf course was. Yes, I saw him do this in his 60's and 70's. And that's why he still looks great in his 80's. He and Gary Player have been great friends since their early 20's and they would compare notes on physical fitness. That was a great time for me.
His advice is timeless. Maybe that's why he's still playing good golf in his 80s.
Looks in pretty amazing shape for in his 80s!!! Always liked his rhythm in his swing
