I love my Canyon Elevation. Had it for a week and get 20.3 overall mpg. I got tired of driving a full size Sierra pick up truck, it is so huge its like driving a Bus to work everyday and the new Canyon pulls the same as the V8 while being more manageable on the road. Stops better and is much easier to park.
As great as the new canyon and Colorado are, you know these aren’t going to be produced in the numbers that they should. You know GM would much rather you go to full size than mid size.
Great video I love my gmc sierra with my 3.0 duramax idk why more manufacturers don't use small diesel engines I love getting 28mpg and still have good power in a full size truck would love to ask higher ups why not more small diesels in more vehicles
@@streetmuscle215 You're truck would get even higher mpg without emissions choking controls. The EPA doesn't recognize how efficient diesels are. I fully support diesel and did my thesis on biodiesel over 18 years ago. Unfortunately diesel is viewed as the enemy by the EPA and refuses to accept what is "clean enough" and still economically viable. Manufacturers have to go to such complicated methods to reach emission targets that it hurts efficiency as well as long term maintenance and reliability. Take care of your truck and enjoy it. It may be the last of its breed.
Odd that the 4wd 2.7 4cyl tops out at 21mpg hwy. The Gladiator, with the aerodynamics of a brick and a V6, gets basically the same at 22mpg with the automatic (23 w/manual, funny enough). The ford ranger is an older platform and is rated about the same as well.
The Ranger has been redesigned for 2024, but it will most likely get the same engine and transmission as the current one, at least in North America. So I don't expect fuel economy numbers to change.
The Sierra 1500 gets the exact same engine and gets 19 city, 22 highway. How is the half ton getting better MPG than the midsize with the exact same engine??
@@galacticvol moving those off road tires and extra weight and drag from off road equipment and raised suspension. An actual task very few will ever do.

I like the looks of this truck. BUT, why would I buy a mid size truck with a 4 cylinder, when I could pay the same amount of money and buy a Ram Rebel with a Hemi, get the same or better gas mileage, haul more cargo, tow more, carry more passengers, etc. That's why I never considered these mid size trucks when I got my Rebel!
Is it crazy to say I would consider trading my Tacoma TRD Off-Road for a GMC AT4? I am 4-wheeling fairly lightly now, and as much as I appreciate the Tacoma, I rented an older Canyon and was struck by how much nicer it was to drive
Imagine if they dropped each of these trims by $3-$5k, they would still have a strong profit and would fly through them on the dealer lots. Sadly, they’re trying to compensate the lack of reliability by blinging/tech-big them out. I feel like they’d see great profits still by pushing out more units and then seeing more customers in the repair shops/oil changes over time ya know? Sad, but true.
Love the look but not a fan of the relfectors on the fender flares or the 2.7 ltr engine. I can't see that engine lasting very long if you're towing with it.
Price out a full size with similar equipment/tech pkgs and you are going to be well above the price of these trucks. Just a well equipped LT 1500 silverado with the same engine is going to be 8 to 10 thousand more than a z71 colorado.

I, too, really like the new front facia on this Canyon. GMC has done a nice job with this update. A very nice review, Mike. 👍
Thanks David!
Thank you for your thorough and informative review. It’s a nice pickup overall.
Thanks for watching, Joseph!
Great review Mike!😸

I'm confused are the 4 wheel drive models using AWD ?? when not in 4 WD or are they 2 wheel like and old school 4 WD?
Cute and modern little Truck 🛻 !
Crazy how this considered “little” now. This was a full size truck 10 years ago.
Modern, yes. Cute? Aggressive. Little? If you pick the longest bed available it might be longer than the Sierra.

Great looking good review thanks, BUT will the 4bangerturbo go 200k miles without problems like a Ridgeline or Toyota ??
Time will really only tell, but this engine is the L3b, which comes with a forged crank, rods and hardened pistons. Take that for what it’s worth.

What a beautiful truck, but I may have to pass on a 4 cylinder. The midsize truck market was founded on having a V6.😕
The 2006 Colorado had a 5 cylinder engine.
The original mini trucks had 4 bangers. The 2.7 has more torque than the previous generation V8s. The future is now

Nope, headlights are in the wrong place.
Why go for a turbocharged 4 cylinder if it's going to be less fuel efficient than the V6? Typical GM making poor engineering decisions🤦♂️.
It’s due to emission requirements set by the government WE put in place. If it were left up to GM they’d be stuffing V8s in every thing 😂
Good luck getting 430 ft lbs out of a N/A v6
