Thank you for watching!
This man understands this stuff almost as well as anyone I have ever heard. The funny thing is that Foucault and Derrida themselves accused each other of charlatanism. Foucault was absolutely vitriolic about Derrida. Here's a quote about it: "With Derrida, you can hardly misread him, because he’s so obscure. Every time you say, "He says so and so," he always says, "You misunderstood me." But if you try to figure out the correct interpretation, then that’s not so easy. I once said this to Michel Foucault, who was more hostile to Derrida even than I am, and Foucault said that Derrida practiced the method of obscurantisme terroriste (terrorism of obscurantism). We were speaking French. And I said, "What the hell do you mean by that?" And he said, "He writes so obscurely you can’t tell what he’s saying, that’s the obscurantism part, and then when you criticize him, he can always say, 'You didn’t understand me; you’re an idiot.' That’s the terrorism part." And I like that. So I wrote an article about Derrida. I asked Michel if it was OK if I quoted that passage, and he said yes.”
Thanks for that.
cool experience! thanks for sharing that!
> everything I don’t like is a Social Construction

It seems to me that much of what is called “Postmodern Neomarxism” or what you are calling "Applied Postmodernism" "Critical Constructivism" is just a hash made up of an immature gloss of postmodern and neomarxian pseudo intellectualism. I have over the past 20 years made a serious effort at understanding Postmodern and NeoMarxist Philosophy and it is no easy matter to do so. I do like to think that have a workible grasp of it though. My favorite guy to read on this subject is Jurgen Habermas. =)
Thomas Mull Yep, James Lindsay is shallow garbage.
@@cjaquilino It is Foucault and Derrida which are garbage. Interestingly, they both thought the other was a charlatan. They were both right. However, they were intellectual giants compared to the intersectional IDPOL dumpster fire which it inspired.
Ucok Alpigari I have zero investment in either of those two. I’m making a specific point directed at Lindsay who’s a discount Sam Harris…and Sam Harris ain’t great himself.
I’m not judging by disagreement. I’m judging by intellectual curiosity, rigor, and honest. Lindsay is shallow about his opponents and lacks understanding about those he disagrees with. That’s why I’m dissing him.
@@cjaquilino Lindsay exposed the pathetic grievance mongering mill of the modern SJW university. Great work he did.
Ucok Alpigari You mean the grievance study hoax? LOL. That got exposed.
