Almost right after the advertisement, Riley drives the Jeep to where it is thoroughly stuck and need the excavator to extract it? Really? Are wise decisions a better insurance policy than the alternative? I normally don't comment in this manner. But insurance in my mind is for IF something happens, NOT WHEN one puts oneself at risk by choice.
look in to how much it would cost to have that part of the road blasted because you could have blast down to were you want it in one go and just brack up some of the bigger rocks left
FWIW: Don't use dry chem extinguishers on equipment because the dry chem is extremely corrosive. best option is a water extinguisher or a CO2. However CO2 does not work as well as water. I recommend keeping a 5 gallon can full of water strapped to machinery so you always have water available, especially if you working in grass that can sometimes catch fire when operating machinery. FYI: not trolling, just trying to provide some useful information from experience.
Our bobcat 337 kept overheating after about an hour as well. New V belt, extreme radiator rinse with normal garden hose and a new fan shroud ( old fan shroud got hot, deformed and sucked against the radiator) had it back in action with the AC blasting nice and cold.
You might add. Just because you can buy equipment, doesn't mean you know how to use it correctly. Each time the dozer blade , jabs the rock side it stress the whole system. 5000 psi hot hydraulic fluid push to one side with a increase of PSI, will blow valve banks. Hurt the hydraulic static controllers. I used to drive a rail road ballast cleaner. 380 feet long, 3 lines of joy sticks, Dozens of pressure gauges, had 3 radios on at all time as I drove, it standing back wards, with 20 foot tall digging wheels 2 feet from my A cab windows, where I climed up 15 feet up a ladder to get to my cab. Point is , there fun to watch, yes R, is smart. But they have no clue what there doing., digging below the ,ega pond aka lake, spring up water from it. He didn't fix the slope. He built in the winter.....a ice truckers slide. Snow and rain fill pond over flow, make the new road a river. Then freeze, wow, talk about sliding. They might add a tow, rope like a ski hill, and charge for rides.
Broken hydraulic hose, equipment fires and rock crawlin. Pretty much a normal day for a roadbuilder. Got a life insurance policy too!!!! You guys are officially 100% PNW roadbuilders now.
Riley, y’all need to add a fire engine build to the upcoming content. Could be very helpful, land on fire, vehicles on fire, wife’s hair on fire, incinerating toilet on fire or was that just the wings?
Compressed air and a long wand between oil cooler and rad to blow it back the way it came, pressure washers toast the cooling fins bending them over easily, I speak from experience working in the bush( forest) .
Riley, My wife and I discovered your videos a couple of weeks ago and decided to start watching from the beginning so we are trying to catch up! Holy Smokes! Work around our house has ground to a full stop because we are busy watching you and Courtney! Back in 2001 we bought a couple of acres in central Indiana and built a house! We should have videoed that! We had many similar adventures to what you are having. Watching the two of you is bringing back so many great memories of what we did! You guys are doing great! Thanks for sharing the "victories" and the challenges! Mike and Deb
Don't worry about the water level in the pond. Just make sure you have a ditch on that side of the road to let any water that comes to the surface flow down without coming up on the road surface.
agreed, and with a culvert it should be fine. By the way, if there is that much water, maybe you found a spring. it is ALWAYS nice to have extra water! I just found another spring in one of my canyons yesterday. I have a few thousand gallons of water a day now, but nice to find another, (probably another 2000 gallons a day)
I think there are a couple of "root causes" to the excavator fires, like: 1) general cooling system, 2) electrical system and 3) hydraulic system faults. The picture of Riley and Oliver is precious.
Stumbled on to your channel while looking at old dozer stuff, I’m an old equipment operator and cut my teeth on an old 65 D6, I’m not easily impressed, but … I’M IMPRESSED. Equipment will try your patience and sanity. You have renewed my confidence in a generation that I had almost given up on. Your attitude ,tenacity, and patience towards machines and their needs is inspiring and to be commended! I’ve always treated mine as if they were family members, talking to them and treating them to fluid treats and regular maintenance , they’ll love you for it. Sounds crazy, I know , but give it a whirl, you might be surprised. I’ve been binging on your vids and they have been great fun to watch from a perspective of “been there done that “ as far as breakdowns and “break ins “ (windshield/door ..glad Courtney was not injured!! , but nothing takes the place of experience and learning from “butt in the seat” moments.) Enjoying channel and thanks again for Generation Restoration, You guys are hard workers and when you look back when you’re older at all your accomplishments, we’ll.. that’s a feeling you’ll never forget. Thanks again and …to be continued… Over and out.👍
You are crazy and I love it! That’s the kind of attitude it takes to accomplish the impossible! I only wish your videos were longer and more frequent. Keep ‘‘em coming.
The road is coming along nicely. That D8 can move some serious material. When are we going to get an update on the Tsunami 500, its real daily production, and how full your cistern tank is.
Boys and their Toys having too much fun 🤩 You guys are literally CRUSHING IT! Thank you for sharing all of this with us here on UA-cam. Stay safe and healthy 😊 Blessings, Carlos ✝️🙏❤️😊🇺🇸
I've seen dirt roads with springs on them. Owners just routed water away and let it run on road side. One of the roads in Colorado had a micro hydro installed front hat spring.
Great video. Love seeing you use the heavy equipment and just casually fixing anything that goes wrong! I'm curious, when did you guys change your logo? I do like the new one, but now you'll need all new decals on all your toys! Good luck guys and God Bless.
Y'all just about need to blast that, then dig it out. I don't see how you're gonna get it done in the time you've allowed without doing so. Y'all have surprised me before though. Name of the channel is perfect for you guys. I see why you chose it now.
Hey Riley, whenever you buy a new, used machine of any kind one of the first things you must do is clean it, pressure washing with a good degreaser is the best plan. Doing this helps so much in preventing unwanted machine fires. I'm happy you didn't lose your machine but please put safety first!! Having an Extra fire extinguisher is also helpful considering your location. Great videos.
Ha... clinometer aka clino. Nice work with the equipment. Good practice for the MTB flow trail and rock crawling challenge course. Keep up the good work and hope the equipment stays together.
Hey, I'm not a super regular viewer, but I'm wondering if you guys could post a "road graphic" of sorts so we can see not only your progress, but how much you have left, different grades and how long the road is overall. Anyway, thanks for the content and keep it up.
Riley maybe you already have this in place but if not I highly encourage you to keep a road rated vehicle parked just down hill of the rough construction area for emergency access to the highway. You have a baby now and fast access to a hospital is critical Sorry old retired white guy from NC here. Love the road construction videos!
Can always move the pond. just image a bad winter and melt off season started, water is going to washout the road. Put a culvert in and direct where you want the water to go (and best time is now due to the road is all torn up). Mosquito are breeding like mad in the water. What helped for me when I flood arrogate was Mosquito Dunks from Summit.
You are having too much Dam fun, man . Wish I were young again 74 and still young at heart . I used to run heavy Equipment For a living and drive tractor-trailer 50 some years.. loved it when I was younger. Lol Have fun. Be careful. Love you guys and the newcomer to the Videos.
even at 15% grade you still will need to have a couple of piles or mounds of sand on hand during the winter months to sand the hill. And, as i said b4 you will need to scrape that snow and ice down as much as possible on occasion and more often as spting is around the corner so your road is not as muddy and dries out faster.
I think it’s blasting time. Of course, that will bring in the professionals but that would move three weeks worth of rocks in a few minutes. And what is left will be manageable with that big dozer. Also views will grow astronomical. ❤ your channel.
It is hard to tell if you are making a road or a highway. :) Until you said 15 feet more down, I had no idea the scope of this project. Wow. Even construction companies don't take that lightly.
Kind of the perfect video to be sponsored by Policygenius, we have fires, and dubious rock crawling. The water is interesting, I'm surprised the water didn't drain down the hill.
I watched ( many times) up to 15 D11’s at a mine site I worked at doing dozer push clearing. A very fast and relatively cheap way of getting spoil off the coal. Draglines re the best option but not always available. I was always fixing radios or networks on those dozers Great to watch for sure. Even let me drive a D11 once!
Don’t forget the water you put in that radiator when cold weather hits. On a side note, we had a cat excavator in the mid 90s that always from brand new had trouble walking and simply would not turn without help from the bucket/boom/swing gear. Maybe a hitachi weakness?
Looks like you're all having some productive fun now! I chuckled at the don't do this at home My bride rolls her eyes when I suggest getting a machine bigger than our lawn tractor 😅 You really do have a lot of work ahead of you. Looking forward to seeing more of the Adventures of Ambition Strikes ❤
The heat, wires & amps they cook. May have to put a new wire-harness in that area. All these earth moving machines constantly need maintenance, there in no way around it. Grease them every day. Check the fluids everyday. GOOD LUCK! Be SAFE!
Great job on the road, pushing rock sure is hard on the equipment. You’ll have your excavator all sorted out once you have the time this winter to work on it. It will make for good content! Have fun, stay safe, move some dirt!
Hammer attachments on the bigger trac-hoes break hydraulic lines all the time! It’s a common occurrence.. nothing you did wrong. I pipeline for a living and I’ve seen them break with as little as 12-14 hours on a brand new set of hoses. Keep up the good work!
Definitely need to get a pre-buy inspection on those old track hoes, it will be the best $350-$500. You will never spend Those old Hitachi’s are nothing but trouble. Slow pumps and weak pumps are the norm. Normally caused by pump outlet pressure sensor. But sometimes the electrical is so bad on the late 90’s up to 2015 models it’s hard to get even the sensors to work anymore. So when all of that happens, it makes the drive motors weak and it cost more to fix them, and the machine is worth, so they get sold as “ good weekend machines” and they barely even have enough power to load on the trailer.
Riley I upgraded all sizes of dozers and pushed earth a quarter of a mile with a bulldozer and sometimes a little bit farther. So don’t be intimidated by the length of them push and handling that D-8 can handle it.
Riley. Dirt can stick to the fins of the radiator and will bake on. In the mines we would have the water truck blast the radiator while running wide open throttle. It would help clean them out but after a few years we would have to change out the radiator. A pressure wash might just give you a longer run time and operate a little cooler. I know it did on the machines I ran.
Honestly been following for a while now Kinda like the new style of your intro’s and exits Kinda “digging” the fresh light to the channel nice to switch it up Love the many split second scenes in the start to show the upcoming episode Turning into a tv show without Hollywood drama Love it y’all be save and enjoy another week of hopefully good weather for you.

I really love your channel. I've seen you guys grow over the years in many ways. Your filming quality has been much improved, I'm sure it slows down your work progress while always trying to get the best shot, but I appreciate it! Keep it up you three! 😁
If it wasn't so far from Norway to you I would spend my holiday as a volunteer and help you out with the Hitachi, as a father , former mechanic and heavy equipment operator for some years it would be a pleasure helping you to get some hours with your son and wife now and then 😊 Have a nice summer and keep up the good work and positive attitude 🤗

@BasiaBoy Dude you're hilarious as fuck!!!
Use a high pressure sprayer on the radiator with engine degreaser. It clogs up with dirt
But be careful not to bend the fins.
Or cross the streams 👻

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Was gonna say exactly this
I'm a sucker for MORE dozer time! I can see in the future a giant pole barn build to house all of your toys!
They really need an equipment building soon, and large one to accommodate the growing fleet, with a preventative maintenance area too!
The excavator lifting the jeep is the coolest shot ever
Oh, Riley - Once a Poly Goat, always a Poly Goat. Your rock crawling days at Cal Poly will always be in your DNA. Love the road building!
