I wouldn't say "Each Lethal Weapon gets "better and better". In fact I would say the best "Lethal Weapon" was the first one (imo). Which is this one. It has the best combination of action/pathos/ humor/ darkness/ emotional complexity of all the "Lethal Weapon" movies. But I would say all 4 movies are good movies worth seeing
Regarding how they got Murtaugh's daughter. They found her on a date with the teenage boy with dimples. Killed him and grabbed her. Murtaugh got the radio call about a dead teenage boy near his house with dimples and he said "I think they gave a description of my daughter's boyfriend." The dead body is the boyfriend, not Mr. Joshua. They didn't go to the body. Instead they went to Murtaugh's house to check on his daughter, who is missing, and they got the phone call.
In 1968, I was stationed "in country" (Vietnam) during the Tet Offensive. A couple of weeks prior to the start of Tet, N. Korea hijacked the USS Pueblo (a U.S. spy ship). Combat forces including a squadron of F-4 Phantom II fighter jets were immediately dispatched from S. Viet. to S. Korea (Operation Combat Fox). At the end of Tet, troops were sent to relieve the original force. I was part of that troop movement. We were eventually relieved by National Guard troops from Ca. We were told to return to S. Viet. in small groups of 6-8 men. Since the Operation was classified, we were give very vague Orders without any specifics like how we were supposed to get from S. Korea to S. Viet. Instead, we were directed to a small shack at the end of the runway with a sign on it that read "Air America". We discovered that Air America was a covert U.S. airlines run by the CIA. We were told that they couldn't get us back to Viet. but would fly us to Tokyo. The next morning when we arrived at their shack, there was a corporate (Lear) jet parked in frt. that flew us to Tokyo. We spent a couple of days at the Tokyo Hilton before catching a C-141 transport to Viet. There is a movie titled "Air America" (1990) starring Mel Gibson & Robert Downey, Jr. you should check it out.
A noteworthy thing about Lethal Weapon that most people miss - the nature of the soundtrack. Whenever you hear that lone blues guitar riff that sounds Clapton-Esque? The guitar plays whenever it's a scene about Riggs or when there's a focus on his character. What about Murtaugh? You'll notice Murtaugh is always scored by a saxophone. In their respective scenes before they meet, they'll only have their 'own' instruments playing, but by the time they start working together (like the pool house scene), the instruments start playing in a duet, playing together. Framing all of this, the string section frames the narrative and adds necessary suspense in action scenes. And that's why the soundtrack for Lethal Weapon is a freaking masterpiece. Thank Michael Kamen and Eric Clapton for that!
Very good point! So much attention to detail, yet the mood seems light on the set of this movie. I remember seeing this in 1987; big blockbuster, must see film. Good date movie, too.
Sorry Die Hard, but this is my Christmas movie. I’m glad you guys have finally started this franchise. Enjoy the videos. Keep up the good work, ladies.
Mr H. (dead blonde 's father) was involved with "Air America" . "Air America" is a movie about "Air America" from 1990 that stars Mel Gibson and Robert Downey Jr. It also has in its cast Michael Dudikoff who was quite an action star in 1980s ("American Ninja" series, mostly).
Fantastic! This viewing made my afternoon . This film is the gold standard when you got the saxophone playing off-screen with great importance and being the real star and a character of the film, while being heavily integral into the complex emotions of Mel's and Danny's characters through and throughout the story. Bring on Lethal Weapon 2. Based enjoyment you two!
Fun fact: Murtaugh’s house is where Julia Louis-Dreyfus and her husband lived in Christmas Vacation (next to the Griswolds). On the other side of Murtaugh’s house is the Bewitched house. All of this was demolished within the past year or so, sadly. Lots of TV and movie history going back to the 1950s.
Murtaugh says the Huntsacker saved his life in 1965 in the Ia Drang Valley. Mel Gibson was in the 2002 true story movie "We Were Soldiers" about the Battle of Ia Drang. The comedy "Loaded Weapon 1" (1993) can be watched anytime after "Lethal Weapon 3"
Another weird/funny coincidental movie match up with Mel and Lethal Weapon, is how Huntsacker mentioned he got tied up with the whole Air America conspiracy, which was a movie that Mel starred in too.
The wonderful Darlene Love playing Trish Murtagh ... " Today I met the boy I'm going to marry " and " Baby, please come home " amongst her greatest hits ... now 83 and still singing !!
As others have said, the Lethal Weapon series is something of a unicorn, as each film is very solid, and even adding new characters flawlessly, Not many series can actually claim that all the movies are good, but the first 4 (havent seen the newest one yet), are excellent.
The ultimate buddy cop movie, no comparisons and the fact that throughout 4 movies we actually see relationships grow, the perfect quadrilogy. Please, DO NOT STOP AFTER THE FIRST! I beg of you, the relationships, growth and conclusions are really worth it! Also, Mel Gibson absolutely crushed it in this movie. The suicide scene is so raw and so real, GREAT acting.

The greatest soundtrack of any movie series of all time. Score by Michael Kamen (composing and keyboards), Eric Clapton (guitar), and David Sanborn (saxophone). The only bad song is the title end credits song for the first movie. Second movie has a song by George Harrison, third has two Eric Clapton collaborations: one with Sting, and one with Elton John. 25:39 Funnily enough, Mel Gibson ended up being in a movie called “Air America,” although it was even less reality-based than this wild ride.
Jackie Swanson made her feature debut in the opening scene of Lethal Weapon. She played Amanda Hunsaker, who falls to her death from a building onto the roof of a car. She performed this free-fall stunt from 35 feet into an airbag under the training of stuntman Dar Robinson.
The pinnacle of buddy cop movies that could have looked very different. Mel Gibson and Bruce Willis were both offered each other's roles in Lethal Weapon (1987) and Die Hard (1988) because both movies were produced by Joel Silver. In the end, they made the right choices. Great reaction!

Natalie, the furthest distance on an indoor range is 50 yards. I used to shoot metallic silhouette handgun competion out to 100 yards and military iron sights rifles out to 1000 yards. I gave up shooting guns when I discovered archery. Longest distance with a bow in NFAA competition was 80 yards. Longest distance in Bowhunter competition was 105 yards. The bow is incredibly accurate as are modern handguns. You should try them. Something about hit a target with precision that is so satisfying.
Thanks for the flashbacks. I still wonder how this is a first time seeing but that's my age showing. When Michael Hunsaker mentions 'Air America' by chance that is a 1990 movie with Mel Gibson about unofficial flights into Vietnam. It's a comedy action like Lethal Weapon and is also very good with some recognizable young faces. Really fun and enjoyable reaction and again Thanks for the memories of watching this on the VHS video. And always Cheer's Beautiful Ladies.xx and I'm glad you got your topless Mel.
The 2 ladies are good to look at, but, more importantly to a movie fan, their comments on the film are thoughtful. Also, interesting to see Mel Gibson before he was radicalized!
Michelle You are correct about Donner. He did direct 1978's Superman with one and only Superman, Christopher Reeve. He directed a bunch of movies in his career up to his death in 2021. His widow, Lauren Shuler Donner, producer helped produced all X-Men movies plus Deadpool & Wolverine.
Interesting note: Cocaine Dealer wearing red plaided jacket is played, actor named John Michael Kiedis aka Blackie Dammett. His son is the lead singer, Anthony Kiedis of Red-Hot Chili Peppers.
When Riggs is going to eat his gun, the safety is NOT ON. You can tell by the red dot below the safety on that Beretta 92.model. If a firearm has a safety, and if that safety is pointed toward, or is uncovering, a red dot, red letter F, or some other marking in red, that means it is ready to FIRE. Lets not make that mistake folks. Also, for clarification, Russian Roulette is "played" with a revolver (because you can spin the wheel like in Roulette) with 1 round loaded in a chamber, and 4 or 5 other empty chambers. You have a one in 5 or 6 chance of self terminating. Using a semi auto means the only chamber is loaded and there is a 1 in 1 chance, or 100% chance of solving a temporary problem with a PERMANENT solution.
And you all can thank Mel Gibson and Lethal Weapon for changing what the police carry before this movie most police officers carried revolvers. After this movie is when the change started where police officers started choosing to carry a gun with a magazine over a revolver. And this movie is also the reason why Beretta became so popular if you had a 9 mm in the 80s and 90s it had to be a Beretta or you were just made fun of.
Or a Glock. Revolvers previously dominated in police forces because cops did not actually find themselves in extended firefights very often and when they did they would usually be up against a knife or maybe a saturday night special that their standard issue police special .38 revolvers outclassed in accuracy, reliability and stopping power but that really started to change in the 80s when criminals and gangs started replacing their switchblades and cheap handguns with much better automatics and even machine pistols and submachine guns. Police started finding themselves outgunned and in more extended firefights against groups so they had to adapt or find themselves outgunned by the higher grade weapons criminals were starting to commonly use.
Ooooh I am here for this ride... This came out when I was 12/13... Rented on VHS... Only got to see 3 and 4 in the theater.... Excited to see you fall in love with this series. Everyone does!
The story here is by Shane Black, who also did "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," "The Last Boy Scout," "Last Action Hero," and "The Long Kiss Goodnight." If you have seen the MCU movies, he also did "Iron Man 3."
This is one of the better buddy cop movies out there. A little over the top but heck is was the 80s. The chemistry between Gibson and Glover elevates it.
Why do you younger Generations keep calling that a mullet. Joe Dirt Billy Ray Cyrus those are mullets. Big hair was very very common for men and women in the 80s and 90s
This movie did not invent the body cop genre, however, it refined it and perfected it. The sequel is just as good, the rest decline in quality as they go.
Hello ladies. I have always considered Lethal Weapon to be an action movie. Loved Gibson's intense combat veteran character along with Danny Glover's straight man. Busy was definitely a bad guy you love to see meet his end.
For those unfamiliar with guns, Ricks pulled the trigger on the gun at 15:10. The trigger was pulled, only because of his partner's reaction, the firing pin did not hit the base of the cartridge and the shot was not fired. That was the only thing that prevented Ricks' death.
Great reaction to the first and in some ways the weakest of the Lethal Weapon movies. I call it the weakest only because it was the mid/late 80s so martial arts films were big again, so they sutured a long martial arts fight into the end. But even with that annoyance (and I love martial arts movies. I just thought this was unnecessary) this was a pretty darn good action comedy, and it had some deep moments too, so absolutely a great movie. I knew Mel Gibson only from the Mad Max movies, so seeing him absolutely selling the scene in the beginning where he's teetering on the brink of just getting gone and following his wife into the great beyond was unexpected. That was absolutely an amazing performance that made me hurt for him even as a callous teen. They both are skilled actors and capable of giving great performances no matter the material and Gibson actually showed that clearly here. One of the things I like about these movies is that they stay coherent and connected. A lot of modern movie series I expect a character to be terribly heartbroken over a tragic lost love in the first movie and that never gets mentioned again in future movies. Martin's late wife will be included in the story going forward as she is already established as a significant aspect of Martin's life, and I loved that about these movies. I've only really seen the first three movies but I've heard nothing but good things about the fourth. They are all absolutely worth watching and enjoyable as heck. Plus, there are other things that remain consistent from movie to movie, like a sticker on Roger's fridge expresses a viewpoint that will be explored more deeply in the next movie, but I shan't say more about it. 🙂 Side note: it slightly annoyed me that my best friend could grow the Riggs full flowing long luxurious hairstyle when we were teens (and through our twenties) while I with my unruly curly hair could only mimic Lyle Lovett on a bad hair day at my best. 😀 His Native American bloodline was kinder to him than mine was to me. 😛
Lethal weapon 3 & 4 are my favorite. Leo( joe pesci) was my favorite side character, but love the main Duo cops You are correct RICHARD DONNER did indeed do Superman Those two had great chemistry together. I wish it went forward after LW 4
Hi ladies. For a really good (and I think under rated Mel Gibson movie, if you haven't already seen it, you might give Conspiracy Theory a try. Co stars Julia Roberts and a fine cast. For another, with a little more comedy again, Maverick with Mel co-starring with James Garner and Jodi Foster is a good watch also. For one with Danny Glover try Silverado co-starring Scott Glen, Kevin Costner, Kevin Kline and Linda Hunt. Really good western. Enjoyed you both very much in this one. Hope you both have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. Y'all stay safe and well.
Thank you for always keeping it clean in your videos. It's refreshing for sure. I enjoy the channel because you really seem to be having fun. Blessings.
This franchise ranks second in my franchises only to the Rocky's. It has storyline and character progression to the end. Natalie we've all made that mistake a time or two. 😂 Great reaction ladies.
Love this movie. I just find one thing wrong or silly or absolutely far fetched is in the scene when the guys on the roof threatening to jump and Riggs gets him down. That safety air bag or whatever wasn't very big. If the guy jumped he would've had to pinpoint it. He had the whole roof to jump from and he picks this one 20 foot, at the max, spot to jump off of. Quite convenient.
48 hours changed the whole buddies cop action comedy thing, but this made it huge! And Richard making huge movies since the 70s!. The Omen, then Superman, thr comedy The Toy is with Richard Pryor, then the fantasy cult classic, Ladyhawke!
Great reaction! I love this film, it's one of my top 10 favourite Christmas films, but it's actually my least favourite of the 4 Lethal Weapon films. My personal favourite is the second one.
NIce going ladies , Its a great start to this 4 film series. MOst like this one but i have found the next one to get into more of Riggs past and it introduces JOE PESCI in a wild role. YOU 2 will really enjoy the journey with these two and their arc.
Might I suggest the 1991 movie "Oscar" with Marissa Tomei, Tim Curry and Sylvester Stallone. A comedy. It's a good time hard by all. A very under rated movie!
All of this franchise is excellent. You need to watch all 4. If you haven't already seen it try another Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts movie from about the same time called "Conspiracy Theory". Gibson plays crazy really well. Good reaction. Remember, don't do drugs or try to fly without wings.
Little Useless Trivia, this movie was the first time a cell phone was used in a movie. Danny Glover's character carries a Nokia Talkman NMT450 in his suitcase

Natalie was right. The reason they burned Mr. Joshua was to prove how loyal he was to the general.

@25:37 Air America starring Mel Gibson and Robert Downey Jr is a forgotten flick.

The 80s was a decade of some great action flicks. You'll enjoy the sequels.
Can't wait to watch this later and hear y'all's thoughts! Take care, Michelle and Natalie!!
Ooooh I am here for this ride... This came out when I was 12/13... Rented on VHS... Only got to see 3 and 4 in the theater.... Excited to see you fall in love with this series. Everyone does!
My second favorite Christmas movie, right after Trancers.😎👍
I cracked up when Michelle thought Riggs was going to play Russian Roulette with an autoloader. I just love these two. ❤❤😂😂
That was Natalie 😂
@@ForceOfLightEntertainment Sorry about that. People confuse me with my sister.😅
The story here is by Shane Black, who also did "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," "The Last Boy Scout," "Last Action Hero," and "The Long Kiss Goodnight." If you have seen the MCU movies, he also did "Iron Man 3."
We have a reaction to Long Kiss! Check it out!
Definitely recommend Lethal Weapon 2. It's better than the 1st and a lot of fun.
The whole series is really good. Can't wait to see you react to all of them.
This is one of the better buddy cop movies out there. A little over the top but heck is was the 80s. The chemistry between Gibson and Glover elevates it.
Ok the redhead (*Natalie) is the fun one and Michele with one L is practical. 2:13 That tracks.
It's Michelle with TWO Ls. Natalie has one L. 😂
@@colormedubious4747 M-I-C-HELL-E Ok got it!
Actually, ladies, my apologies there’s four of these movies and all of them are really good👌💐
Bird on a Wire...with Mel Gibson and Goldie Hawn is a fun watch ; )
I love Bird On A Wire. It's is my fifth favourite Mel Gibson, after 4 Lethal Weapon films, and my second favourite Goldie Hawn film, after Foul Play.
The western "Maverick" has a little Easter Egg cameo of the two stars of this movie. Worth a fun watch. (Also directed by Donner)
Hello ladies. I have always considered Lethal Weapon to be an action movie. Loved Gibson's intense combat veteran character along with Danny Glover's straight man. Busy was definitely a bad guy you love to see meet his end.
Do you like any of the other movies?!
@ Yes I do. I enjoyed them as well
Great Trilogy 👍🏻💥☃️Enjoy🎁🎄
Thanks!
For those unfamiliar with guns, Ricks pulled the trigger on the gun at 15:10. The trigger was pulled, only because of his partner's reaction, the firing pin did not hit the base of the cartridge and the shot was not fired. That was the only thing that prevented Ricks' death.
Your right Donner directed the best Superman movie and the original The Omen.👍🇬🇧❤️
Side note: it slightly annoyed me that my best friend could grow the Riggs full flowing long luxurious hairstyle when we were teens (and through our twenties) while I with my unruly curly hair could only mimic Lyle Lovett on a bad hair day at my best. 😀 His Native American bloodline was kinder to him than mine was to me. 😛
Lethal weapon 3 & 4 are my favorite.
Leo( joe pesci) was my favorite side character, but love the main Duo cops
You are correct RICHARD DONNER did indeed do Superman
Those two had great chemistry together. I wish it went forward after LW 4
Joe Pesci is such a perfect addition 😂
You'll REALLY like "Lethal Weapon 2"!! Can't wait to see your review of it! Oh, and it's Shane Black, not Shane White! LOL Love you ladies!
Blessings.
Thank you so much!! ☺️
This is a fantastic movie, ladies one of my favorite action movies from the 80s
This franchise ranks second in my franchises only to the Rocky's. It has storyline and character progression to the end. Natalie we've all made that mistake a time or two. 😂 Great reaction ladies.
Interesting tidbit: The Beretta 92 pistol used by Mel Gibson in this is the same one Bruce Willis uses a year later in Die Hard. The same actual prop.
My favourite role from Danny Glover is forever that of Deets in "Lonesome Dove" (which is a must see if you haven't).
Saw at the theater! Great series, it’s a Christmas movie! Thanks Y’all!
Before hunsacker was shot he mentioned air america, which was a real thing, and also the title of another mel gibson film. Have you seen that yet?
48 hours changed the whole buddies cop action comedy thing, but this made it huge! And Richard making huge movies since the 70s!. The Omen, then Superman, thr comedy The Toy is with Richard Pryor, then the fantasy cult classic, Ladyhawke!
In my humble opinion, all four movies are worth watching and reacting to. The characters grow as the franchise continues.
Thanks!
Fun one, Ladies! You both look Lovely. 😊
Thank you! ☺️
Great reaction ladies to a richard donner classic Big thumbs up. Many sequels to go
Thank you!!
This movie brought me back to my high school days 😊
Whoa this was a great movie! I enjoyed your first watch reaction
This is an Action/Christmas movie. The title song is a Christmas song, Jingle Bell Rock
The best buddy cop movie series made. All 4 movies are fun and worth the watch. 2 and 3 are my favorites of the series. Fun reaction Ladies. 👍😎👍
Great reaction! I love this film, it's one of my top 10 favourite Christmas films, but it's actually my least favourite of the 4 Lethal Weapon films. My personal favourite is the second one.
One of the best franchises in movie 🎥 history. You will want to watch them all. Please do. If not for the channel, then for yourselves.
Dint worry, Natalie, when I was a little kid,I thought I could fly too, though I only tried while on the swing set.
NIce going ladies , Its a great start to this 4 film series. MOst like this one but i have found the next one to get into more of Riggs past and it introduces JOE PESCI in a wild role. YOU 2 will really enjoy the journey with these two and their arc.
that's how men counsel each other today!
Might I suggest the 1991 movie "Oscar" with Marissa Tomei, Tim Curry and Sylvester Stallone. A comedy. It's a good time hard by all. A very under rated movie!
Other great action movies
Commando
Tango cash
Die hard 1,2,3,
Point break
Shootem up
Predator
Terminator 1,2
Cobra
Total recall
The four movies are worth watching. 3 is the best in my opinion, but all are good.
The golden standard of the Buddy Cop genre. The whole franchise is worth checking out
All of this franchise is excellent. You need to watch all 4. If you haven't already seen it try another Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts movie from about the same time called "Conspiracy Theory". Gibson plays crazy really well. Good reaction. Remember, don't do drugs or try to fly without wings.
Another great movie from the same era with Mel Gibson and Kurt Russell and Michelle Pfifer is "Tequila Sunrise "!
Little Useless Trivia, this movie was the first time a cell phone was used in a movie. Danny Glover's character carries a Nokia Talkman NMT450 in his suitcase
Cool!
