As an aspiring missionary to Japan, I first learned about the Lausanne movement during my first year in seminary. Pray that God will be glorified and the Church strengthened during the upcoming Congress 🇿🇦🇯🇵
I turned 7 in 1974. What is most important for myself was that was when I accepted Jesus as my Saviour. I am so glad that my Mom had trusted Jesus a few years prior and was faithful in not only going to church but was faithful in taking me to where I would hear The Gospel regularly. And after trusting in Jesus, I grew. And I have continued to grow. Father, thank You for your amazing faithfulness to me.
So happy to see Dr Oh on here! I remember vividly when he came and spoke about the need for Christ in Japan at the church I grew up in, Covenant Life. It was January of 2011 I believe, right before the huge earthquake and tsunami. He was instrumental in my awakening to the need for Christ in Japan, which I had never known before. I remember sending him an email to thank him for coming, and he replied the same day! Such a kind, humble brother, and I praise God for the love and passion for Christ that he and others have poured into Japan for many years 🙏❤️ I can think of few people more aware of the needs of the people of Japan than Dr Oh. Praying for this work he is doing with Lausanne and Radical!
I was shocked and grieved at these two stats: 86% of the world's Hindus, Muslims, and Buddhists don't know a single Christian. 😢 Every year, there are more unreached people than the year before. 😭
This is such as an insightful conversation, as a Christian living in Africa, I am glad that there are platforms as these that spur conversations on collaboration to further the gospel of our Christ. And I am so glad to see my brothers from other races working as on man to advance the course of the gospel. I pray that our labours would yield the needed results and we would see the prevailance of the Gospel on our day. Amen
You hold a book and say it contains the first ever reports on the status of the Great Commission but Joshua Project, US Center for World Missions, and others in collaboration have been giving reports on the Great Commission for over 30 years in great detail - percentage reached, unreached, churches, bibles, etc. So what is different in these Lausanne 2024 reports?
I looked up who Nick Fury is. Yes, we need collaboration! For example... Americans have lots of money, but the number of missionaries per capita from the USA going to unreached tribes and nations is lacking. And in places like here in the Philippines, the number of missionaries per capita in the Philippines who want to go to unreached tribes and nations is high, but there's not enough money. Americans, use your money to send Filipino laborers into the Lord's harvest! In fact, I could write paragraphs about various situations and places where Filipino missionaries do _better_ than Americans.
Totally agree! I'm a Filipino, full-time local missionary. I wanted to go to unreached people groups, but don't know how or where to gather the resources needed to be a part of reaching the unreached. Local churches and friends can only send me to local missions. And there are a number of us who is in this situation. Been praying for christians who are well-off to send people like us who are willing to be on the frontline to bring the gospel in the field even at the cost of giving our lives.
