Bio diesel emits exactly as much CO2 as regular diesel. The difference is that the carbon came from the air in the first place rather than from fossil sources. So it's not increasing the CO2 in the air. Like the difference between burning coal and burning trees.
Lots of garages mix it with regular diesel as biodiesel is so cheap here in the UK. No one uses biodiesel because it ruins modern turbo diesel engines. It's fine in a 20year old Volvo but will kill a new Ford Focus. The acidity needs to be controlled too as biodiesel eats the rubber seals and fuel pumps are not cheap. We can already make SAFE & CHEAP synthetic oils and diesel fuels, so why does SHELL, ESSO etc rely on the Middle East so much? We could stop buying oil from them right now.
In my plant we have an anaerobic digester to deal with the food waste, then the biogas produced is burnt using CHP engine to produce power and heat. We use this to power sre production and we also recover a lot of the heat for other processes on the plant
Good God, how long have they been using that oil to cook with? At about 0:30 looks really nasty coming out of the bucket. We change ours once a week and it never looks that bad.
All we need to do is to extract fat from the average American body through liposuction and we will have more bio fuel than what's needed to reduce our dependency on foreign oil.
Well, in 2011 biodiesel sure NOT costed "more than fossil diesel" at least for the end customer. Higher price - is a sure show stopper for any BD producer.
@bchbear539 Probably over 2 weeks bars are known to used there oil for that long without changing it while chinese restaurants change it pretty much every day...!
well. as a fair comparison you have to consider the energy and cost of extracting crude oil from underground, shipping it to wherever you are, and the energy used to turn it into usable oil as well. I think fundamentally the argument is that biodiesel is more "carbon neutral" as it introduces less CO2 into the air.
Ronison Souza Permanganate or Chromate probably, they are strong oxidants. Or perhaps Sulfuric acid, as an acidic catalyst. Has to be one of the three.
We need in all over India Grampanchayat (Proprietorship Company in joint venture ) & Taluka level Establish A Public Limited Company For Manufacturing Crude oil and Crude gas From Biomas & Open our own Petrol Pump,Cng Station,Organic food & etc... in Joint venture. So pls. Intrested person contect on my WhatsApp no 9320866617 Kishor Pandya.
Sooo, they want us to believe that it is good for the enviroment to have a large diesel guzzling tanker truck drive around to various restaurants Collection a few gallons of oil and use lots of energy to refine it. Seems to me that the amount of energy wasted on Collection, filtering and processing of the oil will be larger than then gained energy.
How do we know that the oil collection truck isnt run on biodiesel? There are far better and more efficient ways to go about producing biodiesel but still this is likely far less expensive than collecting, refining and transporting regular diesel all over the country (being that this could be made locally)
Imagine the smell from the tallow factory
Lol

Or else all the folks that died in our wars would have died for nothing. Sadly.
that mercedes had sweet rims
The rims are the outer part of the wheel. You're talking about the wheel. You are right though they are nice.
I should not have watched this during my lunch break.
use solar powered factory for making biodiesel or sea waved energy

mrtigretiger Really?
Yes good idea.. Mail your ideas to Whitehouse
Isn't that the same plot from one of the sketches in the 1977 Kentucky Fried Movie?
AND ALL ENGINS WILL FAIL!!!
In million years, lots of oil wells will be found in america. They came from the fats of obese Americans.
Well, in 2011 biodiesel sure NOT costed "more than fossil diesel" at least for the end customer. Higher price - is a sure show stopper for any BD producer.
very interesting, I won't see the left over oil the same way
Humanity should have done much more with this technique. You can run your diesel 100% clean on it. We would not need Tesla's and lithium batteries.

You're right. it COULD be more envirounmental friendly than traditional fuel, but most often is not.
true
wow. thanks america for super sizing your Mcmenu
Actually since about 2008 Bio Fuel has been cheaper than regular diesel but finding a place that sells it is hard....!
Great concept on fuel substitute ....
It's not a concept you fucking moron
What kind of catalyst it was used in this reaction between oil and methanol?
Ronison Souza Permanganate or Chromate probably, they are strong oxidants. Or perhaps Sulfuric acid, as an acidic catalyst. Has to be one of the three.
Monkey D. Luffy I thought that they used some alkaline catalyst, but, I guess you're right.
+Ronison Souza ethanol is also used fairly commonly
Sodium or Potassium Hydroxide
Use egg shell
I am seller of biodiesel
still selling? Please contact me via my email. Makhalerialivhuwa@yahoo.com
makhale rialivhuwa im seller
So am I, I sell mine at around $1,30 per gallon. 97% purity.

The present problem is Competition from oil rich countries.
Methes Energies hosts the How It's Made team to film the production of biodiesel.
use the formula for glucose molecules making artificially with chlorophyll synthetic and other petroleum products
Интересно что за катализатор используется?
put hydrogen peroxide or hydrogenation will turned oil into ghee or solid and easily transport
Paradigm paralysis
Excellent manufacture engine's which works in kerosine
first
@bchbear539 It was that color because it was already cooled. Notice no towels to hold the pot?
do we have many competitors in this field?
Amazing
whats the catalyst made of [3:28]
There's a few different catalyst that can work. I think the most common is sodium hydroxide (caustic soda, lye).
biodiesel will be forbidden :) 2030 stoped in the EU :P
Don't think so. Check your facts, it's usage is highest in the history of EU this year.

They aren’t saying how much it’s worth 😂 dig a little deeper then you’ll see the point
