Love this, even though it's a story it's so realistic and raw. And I like how it was just a simple love story, a lesbian love story with no discrimination no hate no neglect, abandonment, abuse, no one threw shame or hate at them. Soul mates falling for each other in the most unlikely situation makes this film brilliant. I wish mutually falling in love, being a lesbian and being accepted was as easy as this film portrays it to be.

I always come back to this short film because it's my favorite one. I'm in a filmmaking class right now and we have to make our own short film. This has been my biggest inspiration for creating my film (the story is different but I'm trying to get that cute love story vibe)

How would that play out?

I guess for some reason I can see that playing out in my head more easily because we've all seen enough examples of straight people rejecting each other as well (especially girls rejecting guys). But not so many examples of a gay person being rejected because the other person is straight. Usually in media if gay people are represented, they go in couples. That is just my experience.

I personally don't see how it's a big difference. You still have to build up your courage to approach the person (but perhaps be ready to run if the person you're interested in end up being a total homophobe! And same goes if you're gay and reject a homophobe...), and no matter gender there will still be a fear of rejection, just different reasons why one might get rejected!
Just the other day I watched a TV show where a girl is in love with her best friend, but all that friend is talking about is a boy she likes. I'd say that gay person falling for straight person is more common than the other way around! Don't think I've ever seen that in film/TV...
In my opinion media representation of queer people is quite boring.There's not much diversity in general. Very often (but not always) the sexuality is what moves their storyline forward. Someone freaking out over the possibility of being gay or their parents disapproving. It happens in real life, but there's a lack of simple and fun!
This video is a great example on how more directors and writers should portray their LGBTQ characters. It's not the sexuality that moves the storyline forward, it's just a classic romantic comedy. (:
ONEX8rec Totally agree with everything you say! I'm looking forward to the day when homosexuality wouldn't be such a big deal anymore, but instead would serve to expand the diversity of love stories that can be portrayed in the media.
(Though I have to admit I might miss the 'big deal' aspect a bit because that is what makes it much more exciting than heterosexual stories right now.... at least for me. So I'm a bit torn in the way I feel... :/ )

I hate the short hair/long hair stereotypical lesbian pairing. As a girly lesbian who likes the same I find this a bit stupid even if well intentioned on the part of Cornetto.
nehagatari and what is the matter with that? I have short hair, and my girlfriend has it really long. You can have short hair and still be pretty girly (look for example Emma Watson when she had short hair). I don't care about the hair types in this clip, it's a good storyline, that's what matters.
Lol most short haired lesbians are manly. The hair type matters to me not by itself, but because of what it represents. Maybe I'm sick of being hit on by butches when all I want is a lovely feminine girlfriend. It would be much better if the two girls were feminine.
While I can see your point, as a strong LGBTQ ally I also am just happy that an ice cream company is getting this content out there. The big take-home message to remember is that there is a marketing benefit to them in this woman-woman cupidity. The butch-femme stereotype can be a little offputting, yet I feel like they might have been criticized if they both resembled Olivia Newton John from Grease, too. This was made to sell ice cream. The marketing intention is to be inclusive and make ice cream buyers see themselves and thus want the product. Short haired lesbian saw herself bigher than life with cupid's arrow stuck hard in her own heart. And so did the most femme too, even if their sexual - romantic attraction isn't exactly the other in this film. There was femininity on overdrive bathed in estrogen in this advertisement. Beautiful.
