Didn't start using UA-cam till last October after seeing the documentary on Ms. Ronstadt. I wanted to track down the clips I saw in the film. Only now are clips that were posted over 10 years ago showing up in my recommendations. Last night, I revised the video of her singing Different Drum at the Bitter End in NYC in the late 60's, and this morning I find a video of her singing this magnificent song the year she turned 60! She felt the difference in her voice as that insidious disease began its onslaught, but my untrained ears only hear that beautiful, textured, and tender voice that is now as familiar to me as my own mediocre one. Yes, God blessed her with a sublime vocal instrument at birth, but she worked tirelessly and endlessly to use it to perfection.
This video was my "joy fix" for the day!

It´s hard to believe that Linda is in her sixties and her voice is still a miracle!
    God bless her!

I wish I could have attended one of her concerts during her classic standard ballad era.
I’m glad she quietly still is with us.
Linda Ronstadt is a genuine gift of vocal magic in the annals of music history - much missed and never forgotten!!!

What an unbelievable talent. Linda Ronstadt is my idol and a great influence on my music today. From country to jazz to pop to motown; from original songs to remakes-an absolute unrivaled star that is still one of the best selling singers of all time.

I've been bewitched, bothered, & bewildered by Linda Ronstadt since the Stone Poneys. Still am.

The raw talent is unbelievable. And nobody talks about her anymore....probably because she doesn’t prance around the stage half naked singing with auto tune, or even worse, lip syncing.
    How times change.

Fantastic....The Stones, Ms. Ronstadt, Rod Stewart, and even some cats in their 90's here in NYC more than hold their own. Sixty is YOUNG and gets younger every year, no?

she is always gorgeous to me, audio sounds if recorded of a "wild sound mike" in the room, but can not lessen the clarity of her voice, a female Sinatra if there can be such a thing..

I saw Linda in concert in Las Vegas the infamous night and she did NOT say those things she was accused of saying. She said OTHER things that The Aladdin may not have seen 100% eye to eye with (think I know what it was--and trust me, it was an insignificant deal, but an executive's ego (!) likely got bruised over it). I LOVE her pop/rock work AND her jazz work!!! ;-)

Even heavy, she is beauty and pitch and tone and tune. Never needs to force it really, just at the end for sustain and impact.. Damn I still would..

Her voice is as good today as it was when she did Different Drum 41 years ago! She was the sexiest woman alive in the seventies, but like all of us, age did a number on her. But not that voice!!!!
I have every album she recorded from 1969 up to 1982. If ever anyone deserved to be in the R&R Hall of Fame AND the Country Music Hall of Fame, it is Linda Ronstadt!
Feel free to disagree but those are the facts!

you knew she would get fat, she had that early 20's cheekyness that usually turns to mid 30s obesity, and it did, she's been heavy since 36

I would rather see Linda with weight on her compared to the trash they call singers today that roll around naked who COULDN'T HOLD A CANDLE TO MS. RONSTADT

Wrong. Linda got Hashimoto's, a thyroid condition, in the mid 1990s, when she was 50, and that stayed with her until she wasted down due to Parkinson's PSP as the disease progressed. Linda is now a fragile, thin, elderly lady in her late 70s.
