I've been trying to set up Amplitube 5 with my AXE I/O and my Midi Commander & Mission Engineering SP-1 and was looking on how to change CC settings for the Volume and Wah switches. What I'm tring to achieve is to use the SP-1 for both Volume & Wah. When I switch the Volume OFF the Wah turns ON and vice versa. Cheers.
I have that Charvel burgundy mist! One of my favorite guitars, amazing neck. I just bought the MIDI Captain to control my FM3, thank you for showing us this. I just need to get the right mapping for my own device's CC now.
The new firmware 3.0 has two presets for FM3, maybe it is a better fundation for you to change and build other needs by CC control. The FW3.0 can also assign the LED color in normal mode, and the Scene control can have better LED display action. Need to set an extra parameter for the keys which are used for Scene control.
@@Wilson-PaintAudio thanks Wilson! I ended up with a set of CC commands associated with each footswitch, so that the layout is all 8 scenes, and tap tempo and tuner at the right hand side buttons. I do have a question, when I restart the MIDI Captain and it's connected to the FM3, the FM3 changes to preset #1, which is not good because my live presets are in around 300 or 400. Is the MIDI Captain sending a reset command to the FM3?

Big question!? Sorry if it’s not self explanatory to me, I am very exited about this product I just ordered a Fractal FM9, I suppose I would be able to control it with the Captain. MR. Wilson paint audio seems like a genius! The question is Does any of you know if it would be possible to map the slow-playback options of UA-cam with the captain to use it to practice guitar kinda like the Vidami blue or the Airstep play do? I suppose you wouldn’t be able to create loops though - unless! it could control the Airstep play-software from Xsonic with The MIDI Captain??? Would this be possible?
Great video Wilson! I have the unit now but I have an issue with my BIAS FX 2 software. If my CC Pedal light is on for PC A when I change to PC B it carries over the light on status which sometimes can be inconsistent with the actual value on that CC Pedal light in BIAS. Any guidance?
You made the TS Mega?? I have the Harley Benton version! I use it live at church all the time! I want to get the Paint Audio stuff, but if you’re planning on releasing a TS Mega sequel I may wait…
@@Wilson-PaintAudio I see the lights now! Very cool! I perform live with AmpliTube and it amazes me to this day how midi controllers haven't matched even the most basic multi FX units. Lit pedals when engaged is part of it but knowing the patch and bank you're on is also important, hence my plea for a bigger LCD. I use the Morningstar MC6 and I'm looking at the Luminite FX pedal. The latter is great because it has Bluetooth built in but like the MC6 it's only got six pedals (I think 8 minimum is fair to scroll banks) and no lit state on the pedals. If someone could just join all these things into one unit with a nice editor they'd do very well. As it stands I can't believe anyone designs them is a gigging musician.
Hey Wilson, I tried accessing Support via your website but for some reason it was not loading for me. Quick question, I am using the midi captain to control my quad cortex. I am wanting one button to cycle through the three gig modes, stomp/scenes/presets. I know it is CC value 47 and 0=preset, 1=scene and 2=stomp. I am familiar with the toggle feature to go between 0 and 127, but how do I get CC value 47 to just cycle through the three values as I continue to push the button? Thanks Derek
Wilson, did you really say that you have plans or are working on an audio Interface/MIDI pedal like the TS MEGA but BETTER?? I have been wishing for one since I found the limitations of the TS mega to be a bit frustrating, like no momentary switch mode. I (and many others) are using a fantastic looper app on iOS called Loopy Pro. To have a combined MIDI pedal and audio interface for this app would be fantastic! Mic input and instrument input. Even an Aux input, and maybe a couple of extra USB ports for keyboard etc. A USB C interface would be a dream come true 🙌🏻

I briefly looked through the instruction manual for this device and didn't find any content related to "favorite" in the MIDI control table. It's possible that it cannot be controlled in that way. However, there are still many other functions that can be controlled. Your question has sparked an idea in me to implement favorite PC control on a MIDI Captain.💡
Sadly this does not work out of the box with BIAS FX2 - only buttons ABCD work but the moment one assigns buttons 1234 to a function everything stopped. Mine is going back to Amazon, shame cos it looks like a good piece of hardware, but the manual suggests I need go in and edit CC's on a text file on my MacBook. That's not happening I'm afraid,. I gave up programming hexadecimal midi in the 90s and I'm not about to start now. You need to write a simple screen editor if this level of integration does not exist out of the box. The bank up down buttons do not send any data whatsoever, no CC.

Thanks for your reply. But it's not just BIAS FX - I've checked this in a DAW and the bank up/down pedals are not sending any CC messages. So the unit is either faulty, or badly programmed. Understand. Sorry for what you feel. For the bank up/down, it is designed as only for PC, and also has a control bit in normal mode (BANK_SEND = [OFF] # OFF means when PC bank group change No PC send until A B C D pressed) at the global setup. It is like a pre-load to the next or previous bank, and after the A B C D pressed, the PC command is sent. In geekmode, bank up/down only used for the configing page change. So it just work as it should be but I know still could be improved. Thank you!@@simonscardanelli
thanks for replying anyway, it's a shame, I feel this is a great unit but with incomplete features! I really wanted to like this and use it this weekend but it's going to have to go back I'm afraid. I did look at geek mode and managed to get a bit more functionality, but Geek mode needs to have a save as function so that patches can be written and stored for instant recall to the unit. And when I switched it on and off in geek mode it changed the settings I made. It's just not stage ready yet, for me, but I'm glad others are having fun with it.@@Wilson-PaintAudio
@@gionatascrofani7283 Geek mode will have more LED actions just like normal mode soon, still working on FW update about it. Since in Geek mode there are multi-commands on one switch, the led function has to be seperated from the commands, and a special setup will be needed as well.
Hi Wilson. I am confused. I have a Quad Cortex and I have banks A-H. How do you get Midi Captain to select bank A with midi captain button 1, bank B with midi captain button 2, bank E with midi captain button A, and so forth? Midi Captain only displays 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D. I cannot get it to display 1E, 1F, 1G, and 1H.
Hi Jose, there are two level of tone control for Quad Cortex, the normal PC commands control the presets and for each preset there 8 scenes to be switched. Here a popular way is to use MIDI controller for the Scene control which is all done by CC control, CC43 x (x = 0-7 and matching A-H). The Pros of Scene control is very fast and little poping. The display of MIDI captain still shows the PC number in a way as 1A(PC 0), 1B(PC 1), 1C(PC 2)....

Hi Wilson I have a focusrite scarlet solo that has no midi input. My question is, can I use Midi Captain for my pedals and change amps to Amplitube?
Make one with a bigger screen and pedal lights and I'm buying!

Yes. A single MIDI mate is a MIDI-USB convertor as well.

Can you midi control via the usb cable too?
Of course, the USB-MIDI is a main feature of MIDI Captain

Wilson. What do you recommend to use the Quad Cortex in preset mode? That is the mode that I use most. How should I program?
