THIS was the argument I made regarding office for men. People were saying ooh it's a fair price it's similar to Dior or Chanel. They both have a history of top quality fragrances.
Totally fair review.. I think you're one of the best guys to watch if you want a really objective and well rounded review without bias. At 140... I dunno why people would hate him for that price yet buy clones for just as much.. but yeah over 200 dollars is too high for me regardless of the fragrance.. I don't think i ever bought anything over 200 before when it comes to fragrances.. I just rather buy something else than a smell at that price.
This is my stance as well. I just cannot spend over 200 for a fragrance at this point in life. Maybe if financial situation changes, then yes, but under 200 is where I'm at as well.

to be honest, is it a mistake? His fragrances seem to be doing very well for a release like this (without backing from a store or other company). He is already working on releasing 3 more fragrances, candles etc. I'm pretty sure Office & Date are commercially very succesful launches. He's contantly doing half off, 100$ off, 2 for 1 deals etc...he just cashed in and raising the expectations first, but after a while he will sell them out at lower prices. I guarantee you you can buy Date for Men for 100$ sometime soon
The integrity of your reviews just went through the roof. Thank you for a honest review, and not one that has been biased by opinions of him. Someone’s opinion of him should have ZERO effect on the review of the fragrance. You mentioned several times how it’s going to get you flack for giving your truthful opinions, isn’t that sad. Such a dark shadow on the fragcom for allowing emotions to control reviews of what a fragrance smells like.
The process of watching Jeremy's fragrances come to market has been interesting, if nothing else. For that, he deserves a lot of respect. He has to be its brand ambassador as well, along with the hype engine that comes with that. Kudos to him for creating two very interesting fragrances. Thanks for your first impression video, and Merry Christmas.
I like it and think it smells really nice. I agree with you about the oud. I was really expecting a lot of oud from what Jeremy was saying but I can’t smell it at all. After about a hour on my skin it’s a skin sent. I’m just glad I got it at 50% off.
Nice review Ash. I like Ultramale but at times too sweet. I was ready to buy this until you mentioned the ambroxan...just not my thing. Thanks for the honest opinion!
How else will they make money? It takes a lot of money up front to start a business. He doesn't have a large designer foundation behind him to fund the fragrance, and to act as a safety net if it bombs. This is why many niche frags are priced so high...not because they are better, but because that is all they sell.
IMO Jeremy wanted to save on cost hence the basic packaging and bottle design. After having bought Office for Men, I can say that the fragrance smells strongly synthetic and nothing unique about it. It’s a crowd pleaser, lasts 3 to 4 hours in tropical climates and that’s about it. Something an average joe would spray on just to smell acceptable. You’re well off buying Versace Pour Homme compared to this because for one, it smells ‘better’ and it also projects longer.
@@ChainStudios The only fragrance creator i've ever seen attacking critic's are the guys from Dua, Jeremy has made some controversial videos, but to my knowledge they were for other youtubers attacking him personally, i've never seen him beef with someone for critiquing his fragrances, but maybe i'm wrong.
He deserves all the criticism he's new in the fragrance world(in terms of selling perfume) and you have an introductory price of usd245 its ridiculous its almost the price of creed aventus!!!
Great in-depth review, Ashton. I haven’t smelled this one yet. I was tempted to get a bottle with the 50% discount code so I could review it, but then I opted for a 70 ml bottle of Baccarat Rouge 540 EDP (which, by the way, was a little less than 100 ml of Date at full price). I might still get a bottle of Date in the future.
Much respect for you! I appreciate the honest review that you gave, many would drop hate on it for some reason and then we would be confused if that fragrance is for us or not. Until the price point drops drastically i think most of us will avoid it because a blind buy can backfire so bad. Until then designer fragrance's that we can smell in the shops are always going to be a better option.
Like Jeremy a lot, but the fragrances are ridiculously over priced. There’s a difference between being a big youtuber and having a big brand. FragranceOne is not a big brand. Having a big UA-cam channel does not merit the price tag. You could get a bottle of Creed for that. The bottle is basic, atomiser poor, not a fan of the “situational names”, very bland and boring, all with a massive price tag. Not worth it at all.
I gotta think Jeremy has definitely heard the criticisms. If he doesn't change anything then it means it's selling well enough to carry on. If not, he could always make it less expensive to a certain degree.

For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you. Now we let karma do her work for the rest of your days.
Ash. I'm glad (very glad) you brought up the fact that a great majority of the folks who spew hate for this, are those who most assuredly have never even sampled the fragrance. It really is sad. I would like for these individuals to imagine themselves actually having the drive, and initiative to invest in themselves and start a business. Then, when they launch their business (which they have put their passion, time, money, and hard work into) people - who have NEVER even experienced their product/service - flood the internet with hateful, spiteful, derogatory comments about their work. If you don't like him, think his product is too much....then don't buy it! Easy as that.
Pricing it at ~$250 then right away at the release offering it with a 50% discount (which still leaves it quite expensive,) gee seems like a shameless example of "anchoring" (as explained by Kahneman is his great book "Thinking Fast and Slow".) Haven't smelled this yet though, only commenting about that strategy which is plain and simple quite manipulative.
Even at $125 the price is still too high. Jeremy says there's Oud and that you can smell it, but from all the reviews I've seen nobody can detect it which makes me think he's overhyping (Date) his own fragrance. It just comes off as dishonest in my opinion. Now I don't hate the guy he has to make a living like everybody else but at that price it's a no go.
Thanks for your honest review. So many people talking about naturals and niche and how it smells to them... its Date for men. So the key question isn't how many naturals or synthetics, it is how do women rate it on a man. 8.5 and 9 out of 10s speaks for itself. The only question I have is the price. With the offer is reasonable, but it should be that price to start with.
By a mile, the best fragrance reviewer on youtube! I literally wait everyday for ash’ uploads. Keep them coming you do a great job. I always take your opinion on fragrances into account before i purchase
Great review Ashton!! I appreciate the break in the video from spray to final wear and I get the same results when I put this to my nose. Thanks as always - and pricing yup too high @ full price imo
I bought the hype with office for men this time last year with the kick starter... and then felt the fragrance was just “meh”... so yeah... much more skeptical with this release... definitely gonna sample first before committing to a full bottle at that price.
Great review Gents Scents! That's why I love your opinion - you can describe every scent perfectly and be objective, no matter you like or not the fragrance in front of you. I don't know JEREMY FRAGRANCE DATE FOR MEN and I will never know it, but I'm sure now I know how it smells, because of your video. I completely expected something like that - semi-sweet, pleasant, balanced in the spirit of more expensive designer scents. Thank you once again and have a nice Christmas time :)
If I was able to smell the oud in it I would rate it higher and would be able to justify the price but even at 50% off Im disappointed even though it smells pleasant! I was one of the 1st people to smell Date at Scentxplore and it was different when I smelled it that night.....maybe it had more time to macerate and mature but I'm not really sure I guess only time will tell
I appreciate your review, from what I gather your take is that it is a masculine fragrance. I will order it and try it out. I trust Gerami. Thanks for the review.
I took the 250 dollars I had saved up and got a 50 inch LED UHD Smart TV (crazy deal, couldn’t pass it up) for the whole fam for the holidays. Seeing the looks on the faces of my 8 and 3 year old watching “The Flash” on the new big screen TV makes me feel extremely pleased regarding that decision. I think it’s crazy that Date for men costs roughly the same as a nice TV like that. Pass for me! Thanks Ash. 💪👍
Do you think when smelling new fragrances it's harder for you to like them because you collect and smell so many? Like would the average person who smelled this in a club or a nice date be floored and in love with it?
I guess so. I'm just a newbie and I think I really like bad boy. They say it's nothing original, but as for me I'm looking for something designer whose smell (and concept) I really like. So I guess it definitely plays a role in here.
I know this is an old video, I appreciate the work you do here, been trying to find someone on youtube that is authentic in the fragrance reviews etc. and while I could imagine the scent you're reviewing, this is why I always make it a habit of going to a store with testers and make a judgement call of my own personal tastes, so unfortunately for Jeremy, I won't blind buy this until I visit a store and test it for myself to see if I even like it, let alone worth the "hype".
I love it when we get truthful review on any fragrances out there" regardless who it came from or the master perfumer is also! First office for men borrowed from a friend for a week and honestly I've gotten more compliment from wearing Dior sauvage eau de parfum then his product and on my skin same longevity and projection. Lol. So wasn't too impressed with the perfume and definitely wasn't paying niche price for it! Lol. And as for date for men sampled it 2 day's ago and I can honestly say it reminds of two fragrances I own so I blended them together and bingo! Same freaking scent on my skin! Lol 🤣🤣🤣😄😄😄😄😄😄😄 and both bottles together still would be cheaper then this regular designer scent. Anyway just my opinion" I just feel I'd save up and buy parfum de marly, amouage or roja dove fragrances

Not sure if it was me, but at the very end when he commended Jeremy on being transparent and showing the whole process, it almost seemed like a dig at Redolessences line. Have read some very shady things regarding him and that perfume line.
15:13 This is a very valid point in case anyone didn't hang around for the end! Unfortunately some people are just the "face" for a fragrance line and claim they are the creative director.... Jeremy has always been 100% even if some may not like him!

also for his naming idea for the franrances, i think it's deliberately simple to get better results in google for SEO. If you were new to the game, looking for the first decent frangrance, what would you type google? A fragrance for men office/date (because i want a men's fragrance that is suitable for work) or Un Jardin le Boisee l'instant eau fraiche cologne de extrat noir? It's a more intuitive naming though.
Well, sampled this perfume, both before the new bottle color and after. No matter which, this perfume smells like something you buy at Walmart or Marshall’s
Jeremy forgot one thing about his product and that is brand. Need years to pass before costumers decided to buy your product. Ask someone who didnt hear about Jeremy vs Dior or Dolce&Gabbana what gonna choose and mostly gonna choose them becouse its trust brand they dont know for Jeremy fragrance. And finanly its price. Way to high and dont like that buy one get 50% free or what ever. In this case i always gonna buy another brand then Jeremy becouse its price too high for no reason.
I swear in one of JF's old videos, he mentioned that he wants his fragrances to be affordable and available to everyone! I can't seem to find that video anymore.... does anyone else remember that or am I going crazy?
I guess he went for the quality and the name. He could've gone for an unknown perfumer but he went for a famous one. The cost alone for the formula is already enormous without consideration of production cost. I think he barely break-even at half price.
I remember this very well. I followed his channel for years and was excited to see him release his own and was so disappointed when he massively overpriced Office for men
The big thing with the fragrance own fragrances is pricing and packaging. When you look at niche brands they either have amazing packaging with familiar scents that have a twist or simple packaging with unique scents sometimes both.
I can see how difficult that was for you, giving it a positive review! Fair play though, it just goes to show how honest and professional you are. Respect.
For 125$ it doesn't seem that bad, still a bit pricey but reasonable, if he just drops prices he would have a solid brand. I guess the problem is that the people who paid full price may feel ripped off
@@pymcioolbrzym2654 You have to consider that designers produce higher volume of product so they can maximize their profit, I would understand if he charges like 110-125 per bottle. People that really likes the fragrance or just want to support him will probably not mind much about paying those 30-50 extra bucks, they wouldn't be getting a fantastic deal for sure but still not that bad.
Price should be fair that's it and review on UA-cam chanel has to help people to pick something right but support is for poor or weak person not guy going well like Jeremy his not strugling like others trust me
I was going to buy this when it came out, but I forgot the code and wasn't going to pay the full amount. However, with the discount code you reminded me of, along with the review & comparison to Office for Men, I ended up buying it just now. Jeremy gets a little obnoxious now and then, but I usually like his taste in fragrances. I definitely have grown to like your videos more as time goes on, Ash. The clear honesty helps a lot. Keep up the awesome work.
Excellent video and analysis on Date for Men, thanks for the discount code, I 2ish I hadn't bought all my Christmas gifts already, I'd love to smell that new Cologne. It'd be great if you and Jeremy would do a video together over video chat or something
I liked Office - he took an excisting DNA and tried to improve it. Date however smells like a Mix between Ultramale and BDC EdP to me, with a minimal amount of wood. I'm sure girls will like it but it's dissapointing, there are far better options out there especially for that price.
Yes, Jeremy's target are those looking for compliments but those people generally do not want to spend top niche price to attain those compliments. Top dollar consumers generally want unique and complex smelling fragrances, not just compliments. This is the problem in Jeremy's push to sell his brand, there is a disconnect between his product, product pricing and target consumer. The dots do not connect. I do wish Jeremy success though because I respect the motivation his endeavor brings to the world. People bash his pricing based on the idea that Jeremy's pricing is a short term money grab, which it is NOT. His pricing is actually long term thinking. It's a gamble though as the contention it creates is like wrestling a bear. If he wins by maintaining the endurance needed, i think his reward will be success and respect. But without a doubt he needs to work on perfecting his brand, these products now are feeder products.
Great and honest review! Now you need to do a Jeremy vs. Similar frags battle. Office vs. Aventus vs. Savauge and date vs. Jpg and I've also heard it compared to invictus or chmen.
I was disappointed when I got my bottle. Jeremy kept pushing that it has oud and I smell zero oud, it smells like an Ulra Male flanker, just a sweet fragrance with some spice. I was looking forward to getting a wearable oud.
same! I was so disappointed when I first sprayed it on my skin. I immediately thought to my self "ultra male" which i have a 4 ounce bottle of already -_- Never again! So glad that I only bought the 10Ml bottle. I will say that it is a decent scent but very much not worth the price.
That's a hefty price tag without the discount code.He needs to lower his prices for his fragrances. I watch his channel(still expensive though). You always have great reviews.
I would justify the price if oud was the main player being extrait de parfum but it’s not. It would go against his market, easy to wear mass appealing fragrances.
Thanks for your honest assessment as always Ashton. Hope we will see one with your wife and some of her friends giving their opinions too. Merry Xmas from New Zealand 🎅🎅
jeremy fragrance recently did a live stream and made a $100 off code for the first 100 people so maybe some of you can catch it next time, I was about to buy it with the code but I backed out at checkout still $80 is too much for something not proven
thanks for your honest review. People will hate because they are jealous. I agree the price is high, but im sure I will like it just like office for men.
Whats really upsetting is him constantly saying, "30% oud fragrance" and "Oud from Laos" yet no one has detected any oud or substantial woodiness. Instead we got a sweet, Macy's level fragrance similar to Ultra male.
Yep. Jeremy said the reason why it was more expensive because of the natural Oud from Lao. 250 dollars is absolutely daylight robbery. Just be priced at 59 dollars.
Now that I have watched this video. Couldn't agree more with your perspective, Ash. People out there are just being too biased for they're prematurely dragged by prejudice, so thankyou for being objective. However, as you mention, it beats Ultra Male-I can't see anything bad about Date For Men then, except the price. In conclusion, I'm 99% considering to buying it if it's priced 80-90 bucks... If.
Jeremy is great rep for the industry and actually brings traffic to other fragrance youtubers. That’s how i even know about Gent Scents so thank him. I just think he shot too high on price of his fragrances. People who hate on him personally are just nerds.
You're very right, with the first two sentences. He brought me into the fragcom, and because of him I discovered other youtubers, like Gent Scents. All should have some gratitude for him.
I got my bottle a while back using the VIP50 code. I agree with your review, i definitely got the sweet, berry notes on the dry down. I found the scent quite powerful, it fills a room with even one light spray. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but priced a bit high even with the discount. I suppose its expensive to produce your own fragrance line, bottle production is definitely not cheap. Jeremy is bold, unapologetic and successful, so of course he attracts haters.
The smart way to sell this is to offer it in the 100mL size (for those who have the money) but also make a 20 - 25mL size bottle for everyone else. Once the sales takes off, drop the price a little and come out with one or two other ones at a lower price. Business is all about "start small, finish big".
250 and always has discounts that are either 50% off or buy 1 get 1 free. So it is even profitable for them to sell it for 120, or 100.. Than why Isn't it 100 on retail? Maybe I just don't understand marketing but for 100 dollars this could be a much more successful brand IMO.
Lights Out Bro I dont think you understand how incredibly cheap it is to produce a fragrance. Think about how little the oil concentrations are, even though DATE is 30% oil. Still, production is no more than 10€ per bottle. Including the juice, bottle, cap and packaging
Is makes average consumers think they got a deal or that it's a limited time deal so they hurry to get it. It's not a new trick, it's been done in retail for the longest of times
Most say that I feel the same way you do about Date for Men, has the same vibe of ultra male not a clone of it but same vibe. Don’t get any oud, as mentioned by Jeremy but is definitely a compliment getter the lady’s will love this one on guys. Don’t want to sound like a Jeremy fanboy but the guy is doing his thing and he is making his fragrances to be mass appealing and that’s what he is advertising. to be honest, is it a mistake? His fragrances seem to be doing very well for a release like this (without backing from a store or other company). He is already working on releasing 3 more fragrances, candles etc. I'm pretty sure Office & Date are commercially very succesful launches. He's contantly doing half off, 100$ off, 2 for 1 deals etc...he just cashed in and raising the expectations first, but after a while he will sell them out at lower prices. I guarantee you you can buy Date for Men for 100$ sometime soon
@@VikB1288 there's absolutely no comparison... Steve has a well thought out product from start to finish on all aspects..Cheers
Avon’s bottles are more expensive looking. Who does 1/2 off on a new release?
Agree with you on pricing, people always have better similar quality options from 60 to 100 USD.
248 boxes? That's crazy! I could buy 2 Amouages at discounters with that money.
2 very overpriced interesting fragrances i think
@@behindthenonscents3884 maybe he believes they are the best in the world? Simply delusion and need expert help
Finally the video i have been waiting for! Thanks Ash!
I like it and think it smells really nice. I agree with you about the oud. I was really expecting a lot of oud from what Jeremy was saying but I can’t smell it at all. After about a hour on my skin it’s a skin sent. I’m just glad I got it at 50% off.
This brand is not worth the price.
@P Melkin what is that have to do with his comment??
@@RavenValkyrie Clouds form in the sky.
A fair review, in my opinion! I completely agree that the price (without a coupon code) is absolutely ridiculous! Great job, Ashton! 👍🏼
A fair review with no BS. Thank you, Ashton. Too many trolls and Fragrantica aren't truly reviewing the product and that renders them invalid.
Nice review Ash. I like Ultramale but at times too sweet. I was ready to buy this until you mentioned the ambroxan...just not my thing. Thanks for the honest opinion!
I don't see how a start up company can justify charging niches prices
How else will they make money? It takes a lot of money up front to start a business. He doesn't have a large designer foundation behind him to fund the fragrance, and to act as a safety net if it bombs. This is why many niche frags are priced so high...not because they are better, but because that is all they sell.
Then you obviously don’t know business 🙄
Dumb question by somebody who will never have success with start ups... look at tesla, startet with a 90k car
@@sevenLionx Massive difference they were unique cars with no alternatives.
Colm Farrel No electric car alternatives? Lol. You should take a look around sometime.
Way toooo expensive... Again 😊
You're poor.

I appreciate you not bring biased. It's sad how ignorant people hate on Jeremy!
It's overpriced so I don't buy it.

Absolutely spot on
He also had a buy one bottle get one bottle free deal the other day, too.
SuperG50 Zero waiting for Aaron to review it .
So glad to see you’ve hit 70K subs!!!
The channel is growing fast I’ve been watching the subs count last few days and it’s shooting up mate.
Great first impression and I enjoyed it and I can't wait to see full review and have a blessed day
If I was able to smell the oud in it I would rate it higher and would be able to justify the price but even at 50% off Im disappointed even though it smells pleasant!
Appreciate the review. Wish he would seriously review his pricing & marketing strategy. From the sounds of it definitely not blind buy worthiness!
I'm not going to buy it, but I appreciate your honest review.

Nice review and for being honest. As always you do very well with your reviews IMO.
also for his naming idea for the franrances, i think it's deliberately simple to get better results in google for SEO.
Fair reviewer that isn't using their platform to hate on JF. One of the best channels.
@@thaichautran794 this requires too much thinking for the masses to comprehend
I remember this very well. I followed his channel for years and was excited to see him release his own and was so disappointed when he massively overpriced Office for men
He did indeed!
Yeah, he actually sad it in some UA-cam videos.
I got a memory of it when Jeremy Fragrance said that he (maybe) where starting a company.
Respect.
fair review. I find the fragrance rather tiring to smell and not very unique. much like a shopping mall at christmas time.
For 125$ it doesn't seem that bad, still a bit pricey but reasonable, if he just drops prices he would have a solid brand. I guess the problem is that the people who paid full price may feel ripped off
There is no idiot to pay full asking price even half is simply to much for clever buyer with bit of brain
Great detailed review. Was waiting on your thoughts about it. Thanks
@@Fresh_Indeed Is it better than ultra mâle or too close ?
Nice to see someone without prejudice against Jeremy. Im not even his fan but hate the fragrantica comment section.
Office and Date packaging reminds me of CK One and CK Be. Seems like I have seen it before.
That's a hefty price tag without the discount code.He needs to lower his prices for his fragrances. I watch his channel(still expensive though). You always have great reviews.
Thanks for your honest review. I will have to try a sample and decide if it’s worth it over jpg ultramale.
I would justify the price if oud was the main player being extrait de parfum but it’s not. It would go against his market, easy to wear mass appealing fragrances.

Mediocore/alright "designer" fragrance for premium price. No thanks. It should be priced 60-80dollars max
I agree on the price, I would gladly pay up to 80 USD for it.
jeremy fragrance recently did a live stream and made a $100 off code for the first 100 people so maybe some of you can catch it next time, I was about to buy it with the code but I backed out at checkout still $80 is too much for something not proven
You can buy D&G The one, YSL La nuit di lhomme, Mont blanc Explorer & Prada lhomme intense all 4 for that price
thanks for your honest review.
Just be priced at 59 dollars.
well balanced review, you spoil us
Now that I have watched this video.

Sure Jeremy's great...but i've watched many respected Fragrance UA-camrs before him.....
You expect to pay Chanel prices for his fragrance?
buri zaemon I’m sure you and many have, but there are many others like me who watched Jeremy first as shown by his following
Lights Out exposure exposure
Lights Out because he’s a greedy guy.
Lights Out 80-100 would be fine i'm sure he'd make more money doing it

Bro I dont think you understand how incredibly cheap it is to produce a fragrance.
For those who want complex fragrances this will not be it.
You’re review is close to my comments on Redolessence and before I saw your review.....fragrance wise I like it....I said almost exactly what you said regarding...50% discount it’s worth.....$280 nope....I’m pleasantly surprised that my comments were similar to yours!....Awesome review!
I understand his pricing scheme: Price it high and people will automatically think it is better than it is. The problem? He's made a designer fragrance at niche prices.
You said it best, Jeremy is after a mass appealing fragrance...which he understands and does well.
That said, I don't know if people would feel any differently if her lowered his prices. Peolp have already made up their mind about him
