- Collecting has been a part of Hubert Neumann’s life as long as he can remember, starting off with quintessential classics such as baseball cards and matchbooks. But when Neumann observed his father’s fascination with the masters of impressionism, he too, took an interest in art. It has always been the art that transcends Hubert’s understanding which he is gravitated towards. Neumann says, “When you commit to love something, you have that love for the rest of your life”. For Hubert Neumann, that love is art.
How the hell that man 90 years old? He is VERY well preserved!

I VERY RARELY accept myself into a world of jealousy. This gentlemen sent me to the stratosphere.
Interesting viewpoint, as an art collector myself and continually looking at these high-end art collections I see many of the same artists but with many different views, reasons, and motives. As I look at the collection of way lesser renowned and status I find a greater and greater degree of diversity of artists and less and less of the same artists from collector to collector as one moves down the echelons.

An interesting man with an exceptional eye, I don’t know if it’s ever been done before but I think there’s a buyer out there for such a collection who will buy everything at a very good price in one full shot.

Gosh I have to find out more about this guy, lives in a modest apartment or what looks like a modest apartment, it sounds something like the Herbert and Dorothy Vogel story but a bit different. I would like to know his background.
Neumann is a Chicago-based cosmetics heir and a billionaire. Very different upbringing and many more square feet than the Vogels had.
@@BW-81 yeah, I was checking out his background on the internet, apparently he is having quite a row with his daughters who are suing him about the artwork.

You´re missing the point... he is a collector and he loves art. When that´s the case, why refraining yourself from living with what you love?

@@IMAInteriors I think there's a difference between collecting and hoarding. He can live with them all in his room and love it, but it isn't aesthetically pleasing.
@@nottart331 well... it´s just that you see his way of living through your perspective and we are all very different. To my eyes, I don´t think he is hoarding... so who is right? no one.
You might think there is such as "too much artwork in one room" but maybe in person, you see that´s been curated and that it makes sense.
I don´t know you, so can´t call you a minimalist but let´s put you aside... a lot of people think that having a few things on the wall is "too much" and in reality, they just don´t have a passion or the money to collect =)
Well it certainly is packed, but here's the deal. He has great works of art and he wakes up every day surrounded by a lot of it.
