Very interesting presentation. In the whole egg vs white rice amino acid graphic, I think it would have been a bit more explicit if it revealed that in order to get that 40 g of protein, one would need to eat about 6-7 eggs (500 calories) vs 9-10 cups of rice (2000 cal). I'd also like to see a discussion about the number of rice plants/water/environmental impact it takes to produce 10 cups of rice vs feeding one egg-laying hen long enough to produce 7 eggs.

Why only show the impact of getting 25% of our total protein from plants? Why not also show impact for 50% and a 100% plant-based diet? That would surely be a substantial reduction. (I'm guessing it will be as much as b/w 50-80% of all electricity usage).

Using plants as sources of nutrients often doesn't work well because nutrients in plants aren't bioavailable. Protein my be in plants, but that doesn't mean that it's digestible by humans. It's better to eat eggs as source of protein than rice because rice is just sugar.

As someone who is an athlete and a chef, the biggest lesson I've learned is to vary your diet as much as possible. Rice isn't the answer, eggs aren't the answer. It's listening to your body, respecting the environment, and avoiding a rut at all costs.

if the brahmin (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brahmin) diet is not enough to convince people that we overeat and rice&beans are enough to get our proteins, probably this video will! thanks to Prof. Gardner and Panel (very apt family names;)

+Animesh Sharma The problem is that all of the most devout Brahmins that I've known are short and VERY skinny.

@@RonJohn63 The way to combat that is to do resistance training. The path to good health involves diet AND exercise.

17:19 You talk about deforestation because of chickens but ignore that there are 4x as many people on the planet.

I've seen this all before and it seems so easy when someone says "all we have to do". The problem is that it's almost impossible to do. We'd have to up plant food production by 800% at minimum just to get the RDA recommendation of protein. That would mean handing land now owned by the big farm corporations back to small farmers to grow this much plant food. That isn't going to happen. Nor is it going to happen in the rest of the world. As 3rd world countries grow more affluent the first thing they do is up their animal protien consumption.

May be the RDA of protein is incorrect.
